Official Review: M1 Platoon | Rippin They Sh*t 2
We pulled up to a small housing complex. You could hear the crashes from Vaughn Garcia’s sample hits from outside.
“I guess this is it.-”
We walked up sinking stairs, tipping past a woman sleeping on a worn-out couch (who later tuned out to be Rayshawn- a standout on the track “Fendi, Prada”), into a small, emptied bedroom with sweaty walls now occupied by: sleeping bags; New Balance sneaker boxes; samplers and a record player; two medium-sized sticker-ridden speakers; and a microphone.
Vaughn Garcia sat on small stool and used a crate as a computer desk. Pausing between sample-flipping and watching Porco Rosso, Vaughn looked up at me through the smoke made visible from streaks of sunlight leaking through the windows.
“I haven’t sent you none of these joints yet?”
What he began to play was some of what we know now as Rippin They Sh*t Part 2; a project that is over a year in the making featuring M1 Platoon (consisting of Chops, Sean D, Scoopay, and Vaughn G.) rapping over industry tracks and original production by Vaughn G.
