After seeing their names paired together on the mock claims list, Mark had felt like he’d been riding a high he might not ever come down from. “Pat...” He whispered, pressing a kiss to his submissive’s shoulder. “They’re letting us be paired for mock claim week. How are you feeling about that?” His eyes studied the other man’s as he spoke. He pulled his lip between his teeth, chewing for a moment before speaking again. “I got you a collar...It’s not as nice as the one I hope to get you in real life but it’s...It’s what I could get for now.”

Margaret Froze as soon as the video started playing and showing the photos of all of what she could only assume was her friends and other students secrets. She knew it was all over,  She focused her tear filled eyes on her phone as her photos popped up. How did they know, whoever they were. She made damn sure to not be fallowed the few times she indulged. Perhaps she got sloppy, She had be come reliant and a lot of her friends considered her their supplier at Parties. It had all gotten so out of hand. She had been trying so hard to get clean for not only her parents sake but for her own, but everyday had been so hard.

She threw her phone to the ground causing it to break, only causing her to burst in to even more tears. Her breathing was hinged and her heart was beating out of her chest. As she sat in the chair in the hall She felt her whole world crumbling, Spinning, and she could get away.

Mark was heading towards the library, hands in his pockets as he walked. He was obviously lost in thought Everything that had happened had taken its toll just like it was intended to, and he was seeking solace in the one place that seemed to make sense, aside from Patrick’s arms. 

The phone as it made contact with the floor startled him, drawing him from his own mind as he noticed the blonde, crying. Stepping over, he gazed down at her, eyes searching for her mark so he could determine how to best help. Noticing the submissive mark, he nodded to himself. “Look at me. I know things are hard right now. Hard, and scary, but you’re going to get through this. We all are.” His voice was as calm and even as he could make it. “Take a deep breath, you’re going to make yourself sick. What’s your name? I’m Mark, I’m a Dominant.”

Isla nodded, “no I get it, you don’t come off as uncaring, I’d say something if you did…” she mumbled softly. She nods quickly and smiles softly, “yeah you’re right we can,” she admitted. She frowned as she looked around and sighed, “I wouldn’t be surprised if whoever did this had some kind of elaborate plan,” she admitted, “I just don’t get who would do such a thing,” she said listening to him as he explained. She nodded and smiled a little, “I didn’t think so, it’s too cruel to be a prank,” she mumbled before she nodded, “yeah i am, thank you,” she admitted.

Mark nodded, pleased to know he wasn’t coming across in a negative way. He hadn’t ever been what anyone could call a ray of sunshine, and his demeanor had only become more sullen under the weight of everything he’d experienced. That didn’t mean that he ever wanted to be viewed in a bad light. “I wouldn’t be surprised either.” He agreed, looking back at her. “It seems like that’s one of the only logical thoughts to have. This whole thing is already so elaborate, and for what? To scare us? Weren’t there other ways of doing so? And, why take the elites too? Did they go somewhere else? Why not keep us all together?” The questions fell from his mouth quickly, and he knew he ran the risk of overwhelming Isla. “I’m sorry, don’t feel like you have to answer all of that at once. Or at all, a lot of it is rhetorical. I’m just thinking out loud, trying to make sense of some of this. But, given everything that has happened I don’t know if there is any sense to be made of it. Ultimately it looks like someone is just...Really mad about us being here. We knew we’d face backlash. We knew this wouldn’t be easy. But this is a lot.” His head dropped as he steadied his breathing. “I’m glad you’re feeling better, Isla. It’s going to be alright. Someone will find us, they have to. For one, I can assure you my submissive, Patrick, will not rest until I- and by proxy we- have been located.”

She may have not actually owed him an explanation but she felt like she did. She nodded slowly and chewed her lip, “you’re right, hold it together… I can do that,” she mumbled, she could…right? “No, I would never think that you’re just trying to calm me down, you’re not doing anything wrong,” she explained softly, looking at him. “No, it can’t, but how long will it last?” she asked more as a rhetorical question than a real one, it was scary and she was terrified, having no idea what was going on. “I don’t remember either, unless we’re in a different place, surely… we must be especially if you don’t recognise this part of this place much,” she explained. Listening she nodded, “I believe you,” she said, it may have been the fear talking but she did on some level believe him about being able to get back out, “you think someone is behind this then?” she asked, “it’s not just some prank but just a really bad one?” she asked.

“I’m glad you understand.” Mark nodded. “I don’t want to come across as uncaring. I know you’re frightened, we all are to some degree. But we can worry about being scared after we find our way out of this.” He continued, gesturing to the room. His eyebrows knitted together while he tried to get a better grasp on the situation they were in. “No, I don’t recognize it but it looks like that’s what they meant to happen. These black curtains everywhere...I wonder what’s behind them?” Walking to the nearest wall, Mark bent to run his hand up whatever was on the other side. “It’s wood. These are wooden walls.” He concluded. “Strange. That isn’t what the rest of the houses are made of. That tells me this is some sort of construction, I think.” He walked back towards Isla. “Good, just keep that in mind. Focus on it, it’ll help you.” He considered her question for a moment and shrugged. “I don’t think it’s a prank, no. It’s too elaborate. Too targeted. Maybe whoever did it hoped we’d see it as a prank but I don’t. I think that’s a ruse. Are you feeling better?” He asked.

Isla sighed shakily, everything was happening so fast all at once. She knew she shouldn’t panic, considering everything that had happened, it was the wrong thing to do in that moment, but it was as though she couldn’t help it. She saw Mark and turned to him, biting her lip and sighing softly, I’m sorry, I’m not usually like this, I can usually handle myself better,” she admitted. One minute she was fine and the next she was panicking and acting like she couldn’t handle herself, when that was really the opposite. She listened to him and slowly nodded, closing her eyes, took deep breaths and counted them, just focusing on his voice, “I know,” she mumbled, listening to his firm yet gentle voice, “Isla, I’m a switch, like I said I can usually handle myself better than this,” she explained before she nodded, “yeah I am…” she sighed softly, before she smiled, “thank you,” she mumbled, biting her lip again.

“You don’t owe me an explanation.” Mark said simply with a  nod. “This is an intense situation. Not one most people think they’ll find themselves in. Whatever your reaction is, it’s natural, but it’s important to try to hold it together, just a little.” He paused, looking her over. “I’m not judging you, I don't want to come across like I am. But, I want to make sure I do what I need to in order to help you stay calm.” Mark watched as she calmed herself, nodding his approval and support. “You’re doing well. It will all be alright. This is scary, no doubt, but this won’t last forever. It can’t.” Looking around, he started to asses the room they were in. “It’s weird, I feel like we walked a lot longer than we should have been able to, given the size of the house. And I don’t remember there being stairs the first time around either.” Turning back to her he nodded. “It’s nice to meet you, Isla. I’m Mark. I might have said that, but just in case I’ll say it again.” Sliding his hand into his pocket Mark pulled out his phone. “I’m texting my submissive now. He’ll find a way to get us out, that I’m sure of. I just can’t help but wonder who did this. This is pretty elaborate. It took some planning.”

When everything had started to happen, Mark’s first reaction was to panic. But, after everything he’d been through and endured in his life, he knew better than to give himself over to his fear. He took a deep breath and looked around before pulling his phone from his pocket to provide light. The message had been loud and clear, and he played it over in his mind. 

When the woman approached it was obvious she was in a state of panic. Although he wasn’t normally one to assert dominance in any and every situation that came along, but it was clear assistance and a clear head was needed. One upset could turn quickly to a group panic, and he knew better than almost any of them that mass hysteria would be the worst possible thing to do at the time. 

“It’s alright.” He said, standing from his previous position on the floor. “I want you to take deep breaths. Count them if you need to, otherwise focus on my voice. Close your eyes and center yourself. I know you’re scared, and I know this is a bad situation, but I assure you that losing our heads is nothing but a detriment right now.” His words were firm but his voice was gentle. “What’s your name? I’m Mark, I’m a Dominant. Are you also a scholarship student?”

Mark had never been one to realize even the most obvious of things happening in front of his face, even when he was being flirted with. He’d always seen those kind of things as others being very friendly. Dense as ever he didn’t pick up the most obvious of wording when Jace spoke back. “Oh, I’ve had a lot more fun recently. I hadn’t in a long time, before I met by submissive, Patrick. Have you seen him around? If you do, you should say hi. But, yeah, he helps. He’s more into that kind of thing than I am, partying and all that.” Mark laughed himself thinking fondly about everything that had happened since coming to Luxe, and how much he had changed. Really, how much his entire life had changed. Looking back at the other, he tipped his head. “So what stopped your partying when you came here? Just not enough to get involved in or what?” He was genuinely curious, he’d always been interested in the workings of other peoples’ social lives. “Me? I don’t. Not really. Maybe once upon a time I went to one or two, but that was before...Anyway, I don’t get out much these days. Didn’t, I guess. But a lot of these Halloween activities look super cool. Have you taken a look yet?”

Do what you want, maybe I’ come. I also don’t really like crowds so...” Mark said while shaking his head. “Maybe I would come if you hosted still. Do you go to big parties like that a lot?”
