Seriously, I’m frankly appalled by the idea that a nat 20 has to be “player gets all their dreams to come true.” It’s a fricking 5% chance. That’s huge tbh, and it’s going to happen, and shouldn’t derail everything. Maybe let it save the player from their stupidity? But it shouldn’t be a deus ex machina.

(Same goes for a nat 1: it should suck, but not be so bad the character can’t recover, unless their player was also a damn fool to get into the situation in the first place.)

I treat a nat 20 as a 30 roll, and a nat 1 as a -10 roll.

It removes ambiguity on almost everything, while still allowing sillyness.
