INTRODUCTION.

DIEGO HELSING (HELSING DIEGO) IS A ONE PIECE OC created and written by @gildedhook.

diego helsing is a spanish swordsman known for being the defender of his village from certain attacks by celestial dragons. on the bodies of his foes, helsing leaves a carving of the letter H, the mark of his family who have defended the village for generations.

helsing is a single-ship character and is reserved. this is crucial to his entire backstory.

helsing was inspired by the character van helsing from bram stoker's dracula, and diego de la vega, a.k.a zorro. helsing visits blogs by leaving a 🪶🗡️ emoji combo! he is hunting el demonio de mariejois.

[The world's strongest swordsman anticipates the swipe at his feet, sidestepping out of reach as he wields Yoru defensively, taking on the full brunt of Helsing's attacks.]

[For some reason Mihawk was avoiding making attacks of his own. Most likely out of concern for the fellow Cross Guild members fighting with him but didn't the swordsman know full well that they could handle his weaker slashes? It had certainly never stopped him before.]

[He falters a little at Buggy's words. The clown's attempts at being a distraction proving a bit too effective.]

[ helsing struggled against the onslaught from the cross guild. he was, unfortunately, not the strongest swordsman. being the fastest was not necessarily the best trait to have in a fight with three of the most powerful warlords on the planet. the thing about taking on celestial dragons is they don't help each other or work well together in the heat of battle. ]

[ "our partner". they were willing to fight and die for dracule. he was once too. ]

[ sand in his eyes threw him off balance long enough to take a hit from either the clown or yoru, he couldn't tell with his eyes suddenly going black. he was easily pushed onto his stomach on the ground. ]

[ Buggy had been standing there fairly useless, having run after Mihawk to try and keep him in the den- but that- that's. Dear God. ]

[ It, does make him feel a little sick, but- it's Hawky. There's more important things going on right now. His hands split off at his wrists and float to pull daggers tucked into his shoes. ]

Hawky, we're not going back inside.

[hawkeyes-mihawk]

[Mihawk moves in the second Crocodile's hook is angled around Diego's throat. He had to be so careful with the amount of strenght he exerted now that his two associates had joined the battle. One wrong move and he could-]

[Something in his demeanour shifts as he forces all thoughts out of his mind except for how he was going to win this fight. He swings Yoru, attempting to knock the raiper out of the other swordsman's grip while he was off balance.]

[Right now, with how cold his eyes had gone, Mihawk really did look like the monster Diego was hunting.]

[ to avoid yoru breaking arcángel, he twisted the hilt backward and stabbed down at crocodile, allowing him to fall backwards to the ground, ]

[ and swipe at mihawk's feet immediately. the presence of one more cross guild member made it a bit more confusing, but he focused all his energy into attacking dracule. ]

[hawkeyes-mihawk]

[Mihawk looks down once the raiper is lifted, jaw clenching as the memory of their last duel flashes through his mind, still able to taste the blood in his mouth even after all these years. Still able to feel the sting from the scars on his back]

They aren't looking for me Diego. They know full well where I am. I'm just the the excuse they use to hurt your people.

[He spits out the word 'your' like it was venom. Raising Yoru and pointing her towards Helsing, tensing as Crocodile asks his question but refusing to look back at him.]

[He can't find out. Not like this.]

Go back inside.

then i shall have to kill you. maybe then the celestial dragons will cease their relentless search for the poor lost son of the devil.

[ his lunge is quicker than a natural human's, focusing his first attack toward mihawk on the great black blade. his hands twist carefully to ensure his own blade slides clean off to direct the rest of the attack to the ex-warlord behind mihawk. ]

[hawkeyes-mihawk]

This isn't your fight.

[Buggy and Virginia had not been enough to hold Mihawk back, as the swordsman had finally managed to slink his way out of the den to finally face his demons.]

[... though between him and Helsing they both knew who the real demon was in this scenario.]

[Stepping out of the houses door with Yoru drawn, Mihawk would move infront of Crocodile, glaring at the swordsman infront of him.]

You found me.

[His glare falters for a moment, grip tightening on Yoru's hilt.]

[ he never missed when dracule mihawk came out to interrupt the fight, demanding it for himself. the gold of the wedding band on diego's finger seems to burn, the old desire of the man he did love - and maybe still does - flushes over with the anger he feels at the memory of fire and screams and terror. ]

do not speak to me like i still know you.

[ his rapier's tip is turned to meet mihawk's eyes, and his own eyes seem to water. ]

i came to finally finish our battle. they still hunt my people looking for you - i will either take you with me, or lay your head at their feet.

[signore-coccodrillo]

[ a chill runs down his spine. that was the purpose of the ring, he assumes, the gold band curling around his finger. crocodile shook off the feeling, although he can't help but linger on the fact there was much more to the story mihawk had left out. ]

he is not here. take your leave, i'm a very busy man.

[ he prays quietly that buggy and virginia were able to keep mihawk held back. the image of scars on mihawk's body was burnt into his mind. ]

protecting dracule is not wise. it'd be easy to defeat you in battle. and it wouldn't take me long to tear this island apart looking for him.

[ the world's quickest swordsman grips the hilt of his rapier, removing it from it's sheath. he raises the blade and points it straight to crocodile. he is willing to fight, but he would rather save his strength for his battle against el diablo. ]

[ the ground of karai bari is exhaustingly bright, circus tents and fanfare line the streets, making it difficult to navigate. until he finds himself wandering down a straighter road to a simpler home. ]

[ the man who has just walked outside of the house seems a bit disturbed and furious. diego does not draw arcángel yet. ]

good morning, sir.

buongiorno.

[ he should've pictured someone similar enough to dracule. a man about his age with black hair but light eyes. the closer the man comes to the house, the more in view crocodile allows his hook to be. it seems the two of them were willing to fight without yet mentioning it. ]

there's been a misunderstanding regarding your boarding. you are trespassing.

[ he chooses to walk down to meet the man and takes in his form. he doesn't miss the old wedding band on the man's finger, but doesn't yet mention it. ]

you need to leave this place.

[ he considers the man in full. the alligator leather vest, the hook, the piercing eyes. no doubt of his identity, and yet, diego feels nothing to the thought of fighting the man. diego's hand lingers on the hilt of his blade but he does not remove it. a warning, to his host. ]

leaving is not an option for me. you demand me to leave, you must know why i am here. i assume he told you about me.

[ he stops maybe seven feet from crocodile, standing straight. ]

i seek el diablo. i seek my ex-husband.

[ the castle in kuraigana looked like something out of a storybook. he could only imagine a monster lived inside, a dragon lying in wait for the next knight to slay it. diego had wandered the halls long enough, seemingly knowing every path because he could think like his prey. ]

[ he determined which bedroom was always used, where sword training had been done, and which dining hall saw the most use. a splash of wine stained an oak table, and he knew his prey had fallen back into the habit of swiping bottles from local merchants. ]

[ but, in all his observations, el diablo was not here. ]

[ what was there was a snail transponder, a couple crumbs and paperwork left behind. an odd reptilian creature prowling the grounds, large albeit juvenile. ]

[ he was narrowing it down. ]
