Robin leaned heavily against the door as she kept her finger on the doorbell. How did she even get here? The last thing that she had remembered was the long drink of whiskey, she looks down at her hand and realizes she's still holding it. Very slowly she cradles it to chest as she waits for him to answer. "You're my true love." She whispers to it as if it were her child.
Morty stared at the surveillance screen. Part of him wanted to keep watching, amused that out of all the different dimensions and doorsteps, Robin ultimately chose his to slump against.
The other part of him wanted to get rid of her before she puked all over it.
He hadnât seen her in a long time, though, and she may have information he didnât know he needed. One more moment of staring and he found himself at the foot of the stairs. Maybe he should get her water? (But he was at the door by now) Or more booze, since thatâs what Rick did.
He tugged the handle and all his slightly good intentions were destroyed as he watched her flop to his feet and covered them in warm, sour sick-up.
"âŚFuck."
Despite everything, that made her smile. âWell i would need assistance with that. Maybe you could club him for me. Then again that might require you to seduce him and considering how much you didnât enjoy a simple kiss that might be difficult.â She swipes one of his many donuts and practically inhales it. It was actually nice to be clear headed again.
At the mention of seduction, his body went rigid, and he coughed his unease away. Was she serious?Â
It wasnât unusual for Morties to engage with one another. Hell, he himself had his eye set one one particular Morty. But he might have to figure out a really good excuse if she WAS serious.
Besides, he thought, she did say he disappeared. Maybe he was safe after all.
âEy!!! Order your own donuts.â He huffed, disappointed that he had said that with no heart in it. Not like she noticed as she continued to eat.Â
"That was my version of a joke, I wasnât serious." She snatches another one and takes a bite. "Maybe I should sleep around, seems to be working for that woman you live with." She takes another bite as she mulls this over. That wouldnât work either, she wasnât charismatic enough. Then again Mortyâs seemed easy, with the exception of the one sitting right in front of her.
âY-you shouldnât.â He held her gaze, and despite how ridiculous she looked with a half eaten donut hanging out of her mouth, his voice kept a controlled seriousness. âYou shouldnât make yourself do anything. Not for o-other..not for anyone else.âÂ
And that was something he was still working at, too.
She finishes it and looks down at the table as she contemplates his words. âI suppose your right.â Her gaze moves to the window as she stares outside. âIf I followed that advice I wouldnât be in this mess. He saw me as a pawn but of course I didnât realize that at the time. Although to be honest, if he came back I would throw myself at his mercy and allow him to use me again.â Robin looks back at him, her sad almost hollow eyes focusing on him. âPathetic what you resort to when youâre desperate.â
Desperation gets people pretty far, he thought. Look at the Ricks. The Citadel was built in desperation to preserve his ego. Desperation was why Mortysâ like him thrived and exist.Â
âYou know, youâd think less depressing things when you have food in your mouth.â And Morty reached over and (as nicely as he could) nudged her mouth with his half eaten donut.Â
