So you want the kind of relationship a business owner might have with regulars? And I'm not talking about shopkeeper in a small town, I'm talking about maybe the relationship I have with my barber who I see about five times a year for half an hour. Or to my chimney sweeper who I see twice a year for maybe ten minutes

Yes. Maybe like a barber or bartender. But with porn, instead of haircuts and cocktails.

Straight up strange question: what sort of relationship do you prefer to have with your audience? I mean, are you trying to act like their friend and encourage them to be friendly and personable back (even if you're not going to actually make friends with any of them)? Would you prefer to keep things chill? Do you see us as a boss or upper management or investor class you have to appease? Or would you rather forget we exist, almost like you draw & post pics to the sky and then it rains money?

Polite distance, but more intimate than ‘professional,’ since I view my clients as people who are confiding their personal feelings and previsions with me, and I need to stay respectful of that, which I struggle with, being a moody melancholic artist, and the fact that my patience for certain themes and fetishes isn’t as strong as it use to be. If things get too ‘professional’ or too ‘personal’ with a client, I’ll try to distance myself. I don’t want to end up on some boss-type’s payroll, but I also don’t want to be anyone’s therapist either. 

‘Friend’ is a word I’m really hesitant to throw around. I think in my entire life, I’ve only every had ten or twenty people that I’m willing to give the f-word to.

Cadence's last name is Queen? Wait. Did we know that? No, right?

No, the joke is that the actress playing her is named Queen. Sorry, I was struggling for names. At one point I though about using the names of real voice-actors who I think would be good for the role (Tara Strong), but I’ve got a rule about not referencing real people in my porn, so I had to make something up. 

In the ‘lore,’ I’m not even sure if Cadence has a last name. I’m not sure that convention is part of the story.

He got to live a long life doing what he loved, gained recognition for his work, was financially successful, died at the height of his popularity, and is survived by his work which will likely be remembered for centuries.

Do you think Fan Fiction and derivatives should be totally free-game, or do you support royalties and revenue share setups? Witcher is an obvious example of a derivative (commercially) surpassing the original and the author is trying to go for royalties after-the-fact. Compared to something like 50 Shades which was openly a Fan Fic grown large that Mayer was just fine about.

Free game. I only thing royalties should apply to the production and circulation of  particular pieces (like a story, script, or episode of show) but not to characters, ideas, or settings. I’m just advocating for the eliminating licencing fees. 

Tolkien's estate still owns the whole LOTR, for example, so if someone wants to make new LOTR content, like a video-game, the estate gets some money. I don’t think that should be necessary. I think the estate should continue to gather royalties on the actual works of Tolkien (Hobbit, the trilogy), but if someone wanted to create a work of fan-fiction set in that universe and sell it on the FREE market, they should be able to without needing anyone’s permission. I find the whole concept of ‘intellectual property’ to just be an underhanded form of monopoly. 

This just goes back to the idea that I only believe tangible materials are capital. All nontangible materials belong to whoever has the cognizance to understand them.

How would you feel about people writing fan fiction about your characters, as long as you were credited?

Do whatever you want, and don’t both asking for my permission. I’m a very ‘open source’ kind of guy. I think anyone can create anything they want, using any characters they want, from any source they want. Artists should be unshackled and free to create as they whim. 

If someone wanted to write a Harry Potter book, I think they should be able to, and JK Rowling shouldn’t be allowed to sue them for it, since if her original books are so fucking good, she’d still make her money from her central audience, while the knock-offs are only likely to attract a small minority of the larger customer base. How do you really claim ownership over something ethereal like a fictional character or concept anyway? Even if you ‘invented’ it, none of it is real. Does anyone own Thor? Or God? No. So it’s stupid to me that someone still owns Peter Pan. 

‘Intellectual property’ is a concept I’ve struggled with. On one hand, I’m a die-hard capitalist, BUT on the other hand, I really only tend to consider tangible assets (like stuff you can hold, touch, stand on, or eat) as being true capital. 

Non-tangible assets (intellectual capital) are a different beast. If once company is willing to make medication available to the public for a lesser cost than a competitor, that’s good for Capitalism, because that's competition. But the US protects patent-holders too zealously (in my opinon), which keeps the cost of medications artificially high. And don’t argue with me that the government is “protecting the inventors” since most patent-holders are NOT the inventors, they’re large corporations who purchase the patent like it’s some sort of magical golden ticket . . . AKA, a non-tangible asset. 

Do whatever you want. You may even do it better than me.

WOW! People have been asking for a crossover between two of my characters, Mark the Barbarian and Kee-Va the Cave-Girl. I am not willing to draw it myself since I dislike crossovers, but WOW! I like this better than what I would have done myself.

I'm still have no idea how asking if that was a joke rude. How is it rude? Also how do you feel about blizzard deleting ratings on their youtube channel?

He could have expressed his shock an disappointment with the product without being petulant. I think everyone in the audience was confused and offended by what they were shown, but he could have come up and said something like “Why are you presenting a clearly inferior product to us that is obvioulsy intended for a Chinese audience, and don’t you think this devalues your intellectual-property?” but instead he said “Yo, yo,yo, fam! Is this an April Fool’s joke? LOL! Imma meme dis! Hold my beer.”

I’m not disagreeing with his motivation or sentiment (I share them), and I think it is perfectly legitimate to express anger (a valid emotion), but instead of that he asked a rhetorical question that only indirectly implied his point . . . Which is the sort of bitch-move that someone like myself would do.

Have you heard of/read any of 2000 AD's Slaine comics? If so what's your educated opinion? If not you should take a look.

They’re really good. The first few series are a bit slow, but they really pick up speed once the character of Slaine gets a chance to establish himself. It actually reminds me of the manga Berserk a lot, since the Guts we see in the fist few issues of the manga has a rather different personality than he does in the rest of the series. That’s just because the author was still figuring things out even as the series made it to publication. 

The Slaine comics have the distinction of featuring some of Simon Bisley’s best art, but don’t get too attached to it. The series features some wildly different art styles, like the intentionally disgusting CGI rendering in The Book of Invasions, which is probably the story-line that stuck with me the most. 

I am a bit of Pat Mills fan-boy though. I can’t think of anything he’s done that I’ve disliked.

If you could make an anime, what would it be? Hard Mode: It has to be a harem anime. Dante Must Die Mode: You have to use the tropes prevalent in harem animes in some way or other.

I despise Harem anime. I find them so boring that they are not worthy of consideration. It always ends up being a dozen cookie-cutter archetypes who all fall in love with the boring, flat, robotic protagonist who has absolutely zero personality or charisma, because he is intended to represent the average anime fan, which is the lowest form or nerd. Pathetic and contemptible. 

I like to see a lot of sex and fan-service in my entertainment (a LOT), but I still want some element of chaos, of chance, of diversity. It’s so much more entertaining to see the lovey-dovey couple NOT end up together, or for multiple characters to engage in multiple asymmetric relationships that change as the story progresses. I like to see characters break up, get divorced, remarry, hook up, cheat, and cuckold. I like to see an actual story. 

So if I had t make a harem anime … I don’t know … I can’t. not with sticking to the prevalent tropes, because those are exactly what I’d want to throw out the window first, along with the rest of the anime.

Were you using him/her throughout the Slaanesh post to distinguish from factions and races or because you're one of those assholes who rejects the singular they despite its use throughout the history of the English language and by some of its greatest novelists and poets?

I have no problem with using ‘they’ as a singular non-gendered pronoun, just as I have no problem with split-infinitives. Some artifacts of the English language have (and should) gone away. 

I say he/she and him/her for Slaanesh because of the nature of the character. Slaanesh is beyond mortal comprehension, and is therefore beyond gender, but in the lore Slaanesh intentionally projects an image that in androgynous and hermaphroditic, being a mockery of all qualities both male and female. Since the sexual dichotomy of male and female is itself a form of order and reason, the imagery of androgyny is indicative of decadence and perversion.

This is actually a trope that was once common in world literature, especially in China of all places, where androgyny was once used in action-adventure novels as symptom of evil. Good guys were always very noble and masculine, whereas the bad guys were always girly and treacherous. 

Most modern critics consider this trope to be transphobic.
