August: Osage County (2013) directed by John Wells.

After a tragic incident, a dysfunctional family are reunited to their childhood home causing heated arguments, electric tension and incestuous truths to occur. This film is fueled by performances, led by Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts who hold the audiences attention with every eyelid flutter.

Ultimately, it’s a film about reality, with a strong focus on life and death. It highlights the importance of family juxtaposed to the inevitability of growing old and the impossibility of falling in love under all circumstances.

Highly recommended.

Fashion Moments.

I love Sarah Paulson's attitude towards her sexuality.  She is so relaxed and doesn't make a big deal about the fact that she's open to who she falls in love with. I really admire her.

Plus she seems so cool.

Directed by Park Chan-wook, an artist who I have such deference for, Stoker follows India (Mia Wasikowska), perhaps one of the most idiosyncratic characters I have seen in cinema, whose father dies leaving Uncle Charlie (Mathew Goode) to come and stay with herself and her mother Evelyn (Nicole Kidman).

The experience is simplistic and eerie with characters often being of a nefarious nature, but what striked me most impressive, was the electric cinematography that rendered this film to be a piece of art above anything else.

This reminds me of what Lupita Nyong'o wore to the Golden Globe Awards.

I like Lupita Nyong'o because she isn't just an actress. Before going to Yale School of Drama, she has worked as a crew member and done directing herself. At 30, she has become an established actress after her performance in 12 Years A Slave, but prior to this, she was already an established artist.
