A WITCH’S COZY BUTTERNUT WINTER SOUP
This soup is sooooo good! It really puts me in the spirit for yule, and the ending of fall, into the transition of winter. Stir in a clockwise motion to bring cozy vibes into your houses atmosphere and dance to some winter songs to release stagnate energy from a days hard work! P.S. Yule Log Cake recipe coming up in a few day so look out for that !
Ingredients:
1 large butternut squash
1 large yellow onion
2 tbsp brown sugar
1 red pepper
2 cloves garlic
Salt and Pepper
1 tbsp tomato paste
1 sweet potato
3 cups chicken stock
Sprigs of thyme and rosemary
2 (28 oz) cans whole tomatoes
2 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp cinnamon
½ tsp ground ginger
¼ tsp ground cloves
½ tsp cayenne pepper
Directions:
1. Preheat your oven to 375 F. Cut your butternut squash in half and scoop out the seeded part. Do the same for your red pepper and sweet potato. Brush with olive oil and season with the spices listed above. Bake for 1 ½ hours.
2. In a deep large pot, cook your onions and garlic until fragrant and translucent. Transfer that into a large food blender and add your tomatoes, pepper, flesh of your butternut squash and the insides of your sweet potato. Blend until very smooth and transfer back into the pot.
3. Add more seasoning to taste, chicken stock, and your sprigs of thyme and rosemary. Bring to a boil over high heat. Then turn it down to a lower heat, cover, and let simmer for at least 30 minutes.
4. Serve with grated parmesan, toasted bread, and laddle into bowls. Enjoy!

MAGICK APPLE THREE CHEESE SOUP FOR FALL
This soup, is actually pretty tasty, so don’t be scared off by the title. Apple and cheese are really good together. And this recipe, from my kitchen to yours, is infused in magick!
Ingredients:
Olive Oil
1 cup apple cider ~ love, comfort, divine energy, healing, folk lore cure all
2 tbsp brown sugar ~ Love, comfort
1 large granny smith apple ~ revitalize, love, healing
1 large onion, diced ~ warding, protection
1 1/3 cup freshly shredded cheddar
Sprig of thyme ~ symbol of Venus, beauty, courage, fairy communications, protection, psychic abilities
Ground garden sage (Note- Do NOT use white sage as it is sacred to the indigenous and should be saved for native practices) ~ clarity, protection, grounding, cleansing, wisdom, nightmare relief
Salt and pepper ~ Warding, cleansing, protection
½ cup gouda cheese
4 oz bree cheese
¾ cup half and half
3 cups broth of choice
Flour to thicken it
8 oz beer (Optional)
To prep: Cook your apple slices till soft, then purée them with a stick blender. Add a big pot to the stove, add oil to heat up on medium heat.
Cooking the soup: Add diced onions, pureed apple, and cook on medium heat for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add in broth, apple cider, seasonings, and beer (optional) into the pot and stir. You’ll want to bring this to a boil, and then turn down to simmer for an additional 12 minutes.
Stir in your half and half and flour to thicken, along with your brown sugar. Cook this enough for the alcohol to boil off if serving people under 21 years of age or if you don’t want alcoholic soup at that matter. Cook for another 15 minutes stirring on a low medium heat.
Now stir in the cheese until it has melted in nicely in the soup, remember you can always add more things to you’ll liking.
Authors Notes: Beer can be substituted for more broth, stir clock-wise for a more effective outcome. You can also substitute beer for one of you other potions, or edible elixirs. Pecans pair well with this, along with walnuts. You add bacon, or even dip apple slices into the soup.
Blessed be~

The Ultimate Guide to Potion Bases
We all spend so much time thinking about the correspondences of the actual ingredients that go into our potions that we often forget to think about what the potion base represents! (At least I do.) It would be nice to have a list of all the various liquids that can be used in place of water. Naturally, I can’t think of everything but I think this is a pretty good starting point! What else can be used? Eventually, at some point down the road, I will compile all these thoughts into a book on potion making and want to include this! Keep in mind that these are my own correspondences. Let me know if you disagree or if you’d change anything up! Let’s see how big we can make this list. Also, I should probably note that not all of these liquids can be ingested. (Obviously.)
The List
Vinegar: Used for cleansing and purification potions. Lemon Juice: Used in hexing, cursing, or revenge potions. Cranberry Juice: Used in love potions. Apple Juice: Used in healing, knowledge, and youth potions. Ammonia: Used in banishing, cursing, purification, and protection Red Wine: Love potions and potions dealing with death and the afterlife. White Wine: Used in platonic love potions as well as success brews. Rum: Used in potions involving spirit work. Whisky: Another good base for potion work. Vodka: A good base for work involving rapid banishing. Laundry detergent: Good for cleansing potions. Oils: Used to speed up a process. Molasses: Used in potions intended to slow a situation down. Rubbing Alcohol: Another good base for cleansing and purification. Hydrogen Peroxide: Used in healing potions. Milk: Used in potions to promote sleep and peace. Sour Milk: Used to cause nightmares or in potions designed to torment. Orange Juice: For potions of solar importance, healing, success. Soda Water: Used in potions designed to encourage laughter and giddiness. Ginger Ale: Used in health or healing potions. Olive Juice: Used in peace potions. Honey: Used in potions to sweeten up another’s disposition. Syrup: Used in abundance and prosperity potions. Beer: Used in potions intended to induce slumber. Clam Juice: Used in aphrodisiacs. Cough Syrup: Used in healing potions and to make someone ‘cough it up.’ Soy Sauce: Used in protection potions. (Thanks Lexa Rosean for this one!) Pineapple Juice: Used in abundance potions and fidelity potions. Coconut Milk: Used in spiritual and magical cleansing potions. Ice: Solid first, then melted for transformation potions. Coffee: Really, a potion in and of itself in my book. Vanilla Extract: In small amounts, used in passion potions. Witch Hazel: Used in communication and cleansing potions.
What else can you all think of?
The Secret Garden (1993)
Aconitum Napellus, commonly known as Monk's-hood, Aconite, or Wolfsbane. ☣💀 This highly poisonous plant has been successfully used to murder throughout history and has a tendency to kill inexperienced hikers. It's been used by soldiers to poison water, hunters to poison weapons, and lovers to take out those unfaithful.
Monkshood is known to taste foul and bitter, often being spat out quickly to avoid fatal poisoning. Common signs of monkshood poisoning include tingling, numbness, nausea, vomiting, trouble breathing, foaming at the mouth, and extreme fatigue. The death is quick and usually occurs within 1-6 hours, with no known antidote. Its rumoured to kill just by touching it, although not enough evidence has been collected/confirmed for this statement. Most confirmed deaths are from ingestion. Gloves are mandatory, but some plant enthusiasts use bare hands (I wouldnt want to take that risk lmao.) Pollinators love it, especially bees. It's also deer and rabbit resistant 🦌🐇 which makes it a popular addition to an exposed garden bed.
Magickally, the correspondences are endless. This plant can be used in spells for protection, warding, healing, releasing, banishing, and more. Flower essences are the recommended path of working with this plant, however it can be handled very carefully with gloves by those that have previous plant experience.
If you'd like to identify more plants within your area, I highly recommend the app "LeafSnap." You can take pictures and search the image through its Leaves, Flowers, Fruit, or Bark. I love it!
The day I woke up, reality was as dull as the day before. And the day before that, and the day before that again. Tomorrow will be the same. If I could sleep for a few years. Maybe I would wake up happy.

**some of these herbs ARE toxic. i didn’t mention which ones were/weren’t, please do some further research before consuming any of these herbs!!**
BLACK SALT (also known as WITCH’S SALT) is used primarily for protection, banishing, and repelling.
Those uses aren’t exclusive—it has also been known to feature in baneful magics, and can be used in uncrossing rituals.
WAYS TO UTILISE BLACK SALT
To protect your property from negative spirits, people with ill-intent, unwanted visitors, and negative energy: sprinkle black salt around the perimeter of your property.
To both banish any residual icky energy that a person may have left in your home, and prevent them from returning: sprinkle black salt on the front step and sweep it away. If you’re feeling more traditional (and brave!) you can throw black salt at the back of someone that is leaving your home also.
To prevent nightmares: use in a sachet and keep beneath your pillow.
To repel negativity, unwanted visitors, and rumours/gossip: sprinkle generously across windowsills and doorways.
To cleanse your home and keep nasties from entering: add black salt to a floor wash and go ham on your floor. Focus especially on high traffic areas.
To undo a curse, hex, or other form of malignant magic that has been cast upon you: use in an uncrossing oil or powder. Learn more about uncrossing [here].
To alleviate any negative thoughts and feelings that you are carrying: add a pinch of black salt to your bath, or to an oil with a similar purpose that you anoint yourself with.
Tip Your Witch: ✧ Buy Me A Coffee! ✧
Things You Do Not Have to Be In Order to Be a Witch
-Pagan. You can be a witch and be Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Buddhist, Hindu or any other religion that does not use the label “pagan” for itself.
-Wiccan. Witchcraft is a secular practice. Wicca is a religion that involves the practice of witchcraft sometimes.
-Religious/spiritual. You can be an atheist witch.
-Female. Men and nonbinary people can be witches.
-White. A person of any ethnicity or race can practice witchcraft and be a witch.
-Straight. Anyone of any sexual orientation (gay, lesbian, bi, pan, ace, poly, multi, omni…) can be a witch.
-Cis. Trans and nonbinary people can be witches.
-A hardcore environmentalist. Respect for nature is certainly never a bad thing, but you don’t have to chain yourself to a tree or live in a building run entirely on solar power or eat only organic food to call yourself a witch.
-Vegetarian/vegan. Witches can eat meat and animal products. Remember, witchcraft is a secular practice. There is no dogma.
-Full of love and light. Witches who do not follow a religion or moral code that says otherwise may curse as they see fit.
-Dark and scary. Some witches do not want to curse anyone, and that is also fine. Make healing potions and yummy smelling tinctures to your heart’s content.
-Fictional. Witches are real, and they don’t all dress, act or believe in any particular way. All witches are valid.
-Naturally psychic(ally gifted). Not every witch was born able to divine, sense auras, or predict events.
-Anti-science. Love and study of scientific fields and technology can complement witchcraft.
-A childhood witch. Some witches start practicing as adults, after marriage, and are great at it.
-A country dweller. You go, urban witches.
You don’t need to have a label to be a witch, either. Get lost in all the Green, Nature, Dark, Traditional etc. Witch labels? Don’t use one. You don’t have to label yourself.
^agreed
So I’m a little confused. What does it mean, then, to be a witch? Sorry if I offend I just now realize I don’t know the modern definition of a witch.
No offense taken! Your question is genuine. A witch, in the modern conception, is any person who practices witchcraft, and is a label that is claimed by oneself, as assigning it to someone else isn’t always accurate. Check out this blog and the blogs I’ve reblogged from for more info, and feel free to send asks!
