One of the Fruity Ones is a literary autofiction debut about growing up queer in the rural South after surviving conversion therapy, grooming, and the long shadow of religious shame. Told with raw honesty and compassion, it blurs the line between memoir and novel-rooted in lived experience but shaped through craft and care.
Though the novel draws from my own lived experiences, I've shaped Max's story with intention and care—turning private pain into a work of art that speaks to universal questions of faith, love, and resilience. One of the Fruity Ones is the book I needed growing up—and one I hope might help others feel less alone—especially during a time where our rights and identities are being jeopardized and put to question yet again.
