Elaniel, a stonemason fleeing the fall of Eregion, makes her way to Lindon. When she meets Gil-galad, something unexpected occurs. Amid the chaos of preparing for a war against Sauron, their growing love is tested by the weight of duty: his to lead armies into peril, hers to rebuild what darkness has destroyed.
The pull of two fëa is strong for the Eldar. But is duty stronger?

🤓 Regarding the Eldar and Sexy Sex | Textual Analysis of the Laws and Customs Among the Eldar within Tolkien's Lore
A.K.A Let the elves be horny. Textually, there is no reason they can't if we're creative.
Notes: Tone varies between scholastic and sarcastic and back again. Rated mature for use of language only. Sexual activities not described.
The concept I am analyzing: An unfinished Tolkien work, an in-universe essay, Laws and Customs Among the Eldar, describes the elven view of marriage vows which cannot be broken. In sum: Some have interpreted this text as saying that Elves can not/will not have sexual activity (“bodily union”) outside marriage.
The concept I have landed on: “Bodily union,” as described in this unpublished text can be interpreted as an intentional act that elven couples choose to perform. The term is not a catch-all for any or all types of sexual contact. In sum: From my close reading of the text, I interpret that Elves can and could engage in a variety of sexual activities without creating marriage vows if they wished to do so.

Rest assured there will be … words… soo soo many words on AO3 about every single detail I loved about that absolutely gorgeous beast of a chapter. I recall, vividly, being 16 and reading the battle of Dagorlad in either Unfinished Tales or Silm for the first time. I put the book down, stared off 1,000 yards into the distance, and muttered "Why did you all do that? That was so damn dumb."
And so years later, I promised I'd get them all out alive! Very proud that the story "does what it says on the tin" so to speak and they're alive. (Currently figuring out how to get Miriel swept to a small island with a group of Faithful so she can live out her days with her toes in the sand, drinking coconut water. Hydrated, free, favored by the Valar as she should be.)
I ache for the day we get Celebrían and Galadriel together, their near opposite reactions to trauma. Galadriel in her pain and desire for power refusing to return to Valinor, while Celebrían rejects her status as the Lady of Rivendell and yearns for a place she never knew but where she can be free of her pain. Two women who, by all accounts, had an incredibly close relationship, but were ultimately pushed apart like magnets by fate.
Galadriel wasn't explored that much deeply in lore in general but they still gave us this Enigma of a female character who is as much real as she is the person described in lore 🤌🏽
Exactly why I want ROP to give us Celebrian, another character with not that much deep lore but so much potential. I know they can do Celebrian justice because they've shown they can do complex female leads good with Miriel, Nori, Bronwyn, Earien, Disa & ofcourse Galadriel!
If ROP Galadriel is a fire of a woman then her daughter is always depicted like water in fandom & with both of them on screen, the show has an amazing chance to show, side by side, that women can be strong in such vastly different ways! ❤️🔥
All such good points!! I do hope we get to see her. This inspired me to add to that idea of “being strong in different ways” is that both paths these women seem to take are different trauma responses: fight or flight to safety. Both are real, both are valid.
I think there are some lovely and achingly sad parallels here.
And I'm not going to name them or tag them here because you know, reasons.
