Turns out I’m going to run out of these beads for my current project, and they were from Joann (RIP)

Does anyone have these in their stash that they don’t need and would be willing to send along? 😭😭(Second photo is more true colour; they’re a dark warm silver)

Working on the dramatic hood for Vax! Made with a gorgeous buttery raw silk

This piecing was not in my original plans for this hood but I pivoted because I needed a straight-grain drape all around for it to fall how I wanted. And hey, now I have a sexy intersection 😜

Because some of the inside seams will show in the draping, instead of serging or folding under the seam allowances which would look jarringly neat against the distressing, I’m pinking the edges and hand stitching them down. This way they’re secure, but can still fray slightly in a way that vibes with the distressed look.

I’ve made a start on weathering/distressing at the front, using pulled threads, extra stitches, and fabric paint.

Vax hood mockup! This is going to be in a black raw silk, with ragged distressed edges, and will be detachable from the cape so I can wear the cape with or without it 🙌

It’s wildly lightweight which is actually throwing me off a bit, but the swoosh is still fabulous!

I’m working on the other half of Vax’s cape today! Silk feathers and beads galore!

Starting to add feathers to the sheepskin for some yummy texture! The black/green rooster feathers blend super well, but they can also easily read “costumey” because they’re one of the cheapest feather types (no shade, I do love them) To counteract this, I like adding a few different other colours/styles for a more varied “real world” look.

It’s LoVM season finale day! And that was totally totally fine, amirite? 😅

But I loooove these pics from our Vax/Matron shoot! We really wanted to get a “always just out of sight” vibe for the Matron, and a lil fog never hurts for the spooky vibes!

you have permission to pick that 2 year old "abandoned" project back up. it's not mad at you for setting it aside. and maybe time and distance have helped ease or erase the things that made you put it down in the first place.

How I’m making my silk feathers for my Vax cosplay! These are honestly super simple, but a really effective look especially with certain fabrics!

(I am actively embracing the raggedy effect and not finishing the edges of these because I love a distressed look)
