Doubt Academy is a well-thought out game with a certain structure that has given it mass appeal, thus making it popular and in it’s own way, mainstream. However, I do think it deserves to die a quiet death.I love Doubt; I’ve met so many good people and had such fantastic experiences through it. Without the game, I wouldn’t have met so many of my closest friends. I’ve grown not only as a person, but as a writer. Even if I don’t like certain people, I can’t deny that everyone has shown me fantastic selections of writing, chracterization and all of that. I’m happy to have laid out some of the groundwork for DA3, having influenced the tone for as long as I did.Though I do feel like I, personally, overstayed my welcome. Because I was unable to continue a mod for DA3, I should have never tried to come back- all that happened was me feeling mostly confused and upset that I didn’t quite get anything anymore. People tried to get me back in, don’t worry on that. I still spoke to them and I had a thread going at one point - but it just didn’t feel… like I should’ve been there.I really do think that when Kat was telling me the start date for DA3, I should’ve stopped her and pushed it back further. As we were riding on the hype and popularity, Doubt was at it’s peak. And you know what they say about things that had peaked - they burn out. Kids were revving up for DA3. I know a lot of DA2s stopped working on DA2 at one point to work on DA3, towards the end of the game while it game was still ongoing. This was actually kinda good, because looking back, Eikichi’s app was really rushed and he wasn’t as well thought out as he could’ve been. DA4 is kind of the same situation, but I understand it was as such because they wanted to make it in time for the kids on summer break. Hate problems with Doubt, like… they can be separated into three categories. Hate because it’s cool, hate because of what they heard and hate because of something genuine.A lot of people hate Doubt because it’s cool to hate what’s popular. DA is incredibly, incredibly huge. It’s one of the biggest groups in the DR RP community and has set a certain standard that a lot of groups have been inspired by and sometimes, feel obligated to follow. Due to this popularity, a lot of people have the mindset of 'it's just a shitty group/idk why it's so big anyway/etc etc' which… is a shame. But I do get where they’re coming from. You don’t get it and everyone seems to have an opinion, a lot of people are saying negative things about it. It sounds bad, okay fine, I hate it. Yeah. Yeah! This is very much a bandwagon-type opinion which is a right darn shame, but it can’t be help. People tend to sheep, even when - especially when, they don’t know the full story. With that, a lot of people hate Doubt because of what they had heard about it - they have some degree of knowledge of the game because they had a friend who was in it or they read something about it - they had gained some insight that had furthered their opinion. More often than not, though, these are just pockets of information that are incomplete. For example, right - here in Malaysia there was a project a while back that involved sewage or something. They were going to treat the sewage in a certain way, I can’t quite remember. But as it was associated with the government, a lot of anti-government people started shooting it down - in turn, people were getting mis-informed left right center and up the wazoo, it trickled down to my science teacher complaining about it and then my classmates were like “Yeah! Down with [company name] because of that thing!” And I’m just like, okay dude, sit down already thanks bruh. But that’s what I mean. It's pretty much in the same vein - information spreads and becomes gradually more convoluted. A lot of people have the stance of 'Doubt is incredibly toxic because one of the players told someone to cut themselves/the mods harassed someone to the point of an anxiety attack/a mod brought down her own game because of her own personal bs' etc. And I guess I'm at the point where if that's your opinion, okay, cool. Finally, we have the people who hate Doubt because of how they were treated. Really, a lot of these people have legitimate reasons to hate Doubt because of what they had gone through, because they had an unsatisfactory time in the game -- all I can say to that is that I'm sorry. Some of us really liked the game and some of us didn't and that tends to happen with the best and worst of things. My bottom line opinion is that Doubt Academy is wonderfully constructed and has a community of players with different opinions. Talk to some ex-Doubt kids and they will sing praises of the game, talk to some others and they will refuse to spit in the direction of the game itself. Talk to others and they might not have an opinion. Then there's me who just thinks that for the moment, it's run it's course and just needs time for things to die down - then it can come back in a small, neat little package. If anyone needs any further elaboration on anything I've stated here, feel free to ask. As long as you're civil about it, I will answer in kind.
