Abilities:
Artificially Enhanced Physiology, Expert Acrobat, Expert Marksman, Expert Spy, Expert Tactician, Extended Longevity, Gifted Intellect, Graceful Dancer, Master Martial Artist, Master Seductress, Multilingual, Peak Human Immune System, Peak Human Speed, Peak Human Strength, Superhuman Agility, Superhuman Durability, Superhuman Reflexes, Superhuman Resistance, Superhuman Senses, and Talented Hacker.
Biography:
Natalia has no memory of her life prior to her training in the Red Room, of her mother’s voice, her father’s face, or their act of desperation that saved her life. The Romanovas died in a house fire, set by Nazis, and both her mother and father perished in the blaze. Natalia’s survival rested on her mother’s plea with a soldier outside to catch her infant daughter, and Ivan Petrovitch did exactly that. The little, redheaded girl fell into the soldier’s arms and was promptly brought to Department X to begin her training, alongside 27 other orphan girls. Her training included American English training, sparring, weapon mastery, and false memories that made her truly, wholeheartedly believe in the cause for which she fought. Along with those false memories, Natalia was given a serum that prolonged her lifespan and made her more resilient to injury. Natalia excelled in those early years both on stage, where she took on the cover of a ballerina, and behind the Red Room doors. She trained with the best that Department X had to offer, the Winter Soldier being one of those, and quickly rose through the ranks.
At some point in her training, Natalia was arranged to marry Alexi Shostakov, a well-known Soviet test pilot. Memories were implanted in her head so that it seemed that the marriage was her choice. He saw her dancing on stage and fell in love with her and their relationship started from there. Though the memories were false, Natalia did truly fall for her husband in time, and for a few years the pair lived happily. It was the KGB’s decision that the pair would form an excellent Soviet super couple that things spiraled out of control. Alexi “died” on a mission, and Natalia went back to training to become a Black Widow. Due to her time in the Red Room, she proved to be one of the best that the KGB had ever seen and quickly earned her rank. Only, losing Alexi had punched a hole in Natalia’s tough exterior, she started to see the fault in her missions, in her superiors, but she hadn’t the slightest idea what to do about it.
She started to lose herself in assignments, each one more repulsive than the last, and when she was asked to set fire to a children’s hospital Natalia realized just how badly she needed to escape. Of course, how she would do something so ridiculous was completely beyond the spy, and so instead she plugged along, each assignment making her feel dirtier and dirtier. One such mission, in America, put Natalia on SHIELD’s radar in a bad way and Clint Barton was sent to kill her. What he saw was a woman who was shaken though. Somehow the archer was able to see through the infamous Black Widow, the very woman who people thought to be cold and emotionless. She’d been through so much, she’d lost her childhood, her husband, and her real memories, so rather than kill her, Clint brought Natalia back to SHIELD. She was evaluated for her skill and mental soundness and her name was changed, Americanized to Natasha Romanoff. Of course, Natasha was on probation in the beginning. Agents of SHIELD didn’t trust her, and she didn’t trust them either. Natasha had taken jobs of her own for a reason, she didn’t have any interest in dealing with other agencies like the KGB, but what she found surprised her. In time, SHIELD became like a family to her, she and Clint grew close, but she also formed a bond with Nick Fury and moved up through the ranks just as she had in her early years.
The woman started to work hard, at the encouragement of her partner, to wipe the red from her ledger and it seemed as though she was doing exactly that. Natasha became a vital piece of SHIELD’s Strike Team Delta and the Avengers. Alongside her team, she helped ward off Loki’s alien invasion from destroying New York City. Things went south when she teamed up with Captain America more recently though, with the resurfacing of her old trainer and her files being leaked for the entire world to see, Natasha has drawn back into the shadows. Natasha is hard at work rebuilding new covers, finding new safe houses, and keeping a close eye on her teammates and friends alike.

Biography:
High school life was always hard for Billy, the fact that he wasgay and a total fanboy for all things Avengers definitely not making it any easier for him. Funny enough it was because of a bully that he first discovered his powers. Although this time he had been sticking up for another student that Kessler, the bully, had been picking on. It was as Kessler was going to advance on him that his dormant powers came to life and in a blink of an eye Kessler was struck down by lightning. He didn't even have a second to fanboy over the fact that he had powers because now he had to worry about the bully's wellbeing and wasn't that just ironic, the bully ending up at the hospital because of the boy who had been tired of being the victim.
After his mutant powers had manifested, Billy was soon contacted by one, Nathaniel Richards who insisted that he was part of the Avenger's fail safe program that had all his information. This was every fanboy's dream come true, except Billy was no hero he had only just discovered his powers he was nowhere near ready to even start learning how to control them. In the end, he was persuaded and that's how he met his other two team mates Eli Bradley and Theodore Altman. He knew he had made the correct decision after that.
And so the Young Avengers began training to stop Kangaroo the Conquerer, who Nate proclaimed was going to show up anytime soon. When he finally did show up, the Young Avengers along with the help of Captain America, Iron Man, Jewel, Kate Bishop and Cassie Lang took him down and sent him back where he came from. While they lost Nate after that, their team now had the addition of Kate, Cassie and the Vision. It wasn't until his boyfriend was kidnapped by the Super-Skrull that he met his twin brother Tommy Shepherd and he found out that he was the son of the Scarlet Witch and the original Vision. Once his boyfriend was safe, things almost went back to normal as he was able to have Teddy move in with him since his mum had been murdered.

Biography:
Wade’s beginnings are humble but shrouded in the dark. He can’t remember much of them - nothing good, anyway. A mother who lacks a face, and a father who’s a walking whiskey bottle. There might have been a lot of partying. Certainly very few books. Wade knew he always had a mouth, and it got him into trouble. And out of it. the 50s and 60s were prime time for raising kids. There was Eisenhower, cookie-cutter houses, the Korean War, Red Scares. Captain America was put on freeze. So many things.
He knows that he joined the army at 17, right on time for the Vietnam War. And Wade realized he had a skill - a very specific skill that was like the complete lego set of a bunch of other smaller skills. He was an impeccable shot, enjoyed blades too much - and a glory kill was something he could sleep on. His reflexes too, were sharp and on point. Wade did a stellar job fighting Charlie, and after? He was offered to go into the private sector of defense and collection.
Right up until 25, life was grand for him. Just travelling the world, meeting exciting people - and killing them. That is until he started to get terrible pains. He coughed up blood. One check-up and a few tests later? The Big C. Difficult, so difficult. He didn’t know what to do. Desperate to live, Wade heard through the grape vine that Weapon X was looking for volunteers for an experiment. The man didn’t hesitate - he offered himself up to the Science Gods.
He didn’t know that at the time, they were going to be splicing him up with Wolverine’s Healing factor. It was excruciating. Wade thought for a second that Cancer would have been better. When it was over, though, out popped a killing machine. A scarred, dedicatedly crazy machine. Wade worked with and for Weapon X for some time, before voluntarily strutting away from it when the crazy thing went under. He popped around he planet then, just doing what he did best. Merc it on up. Sometimes a villain, often a hero, Wade is morally grey and he enjoys the fact you only know to expect one thing from him - and that’s insanity. The one thing about that is it just means anything is possible from the mercenary. And he does not aim to disappoint.

Biography:
Theodore Altman, or better known as Dorrek VIII on the Skrull Planet where he was born, was born to Skrull Princess Anelle and Captain Mar-vell. The Skrull Emperor mandated that Teddy be killed because of his mixed heritage, but before it could happen Princess Anelle ordered her midwife to take Teddy to the planet Earth and raise him as her own. Thinking that he was human, he grew up believing that he was a mutant because of the powers that he possessed. Of course, that was due to his heritage, but he would later go on to discover that he was actually half Kree and half Skrull.
In school, Teddy used his powers to try and fit in though he had always made sure to keep them a secret, until Greg Norris came along. Wanting to become friends with the boy Teddy revealed to him that he had powers. To Teddy’s relief, Greg accepted him and convinced him to use his powers to turn into the Avengers. It all backfired on him when Greg began to manipulate his every move. Enough so that he convinced Teddy to use his shape shifting abilities to turn into Tony Stark so they could break into the Avenger’s Mansion. What he didn’t know was that Greg intended on robbing the place, Teddy being the huge Avenger’s fan that he was wouldn’t allow it.
It was after this that Nate Richards came along and told Teddy that he was a part of the Avenger’s fail-safe program and became Hulkling. It was like a dream come true for Teddy and upon accepting the boy’s invitation he met his teammates: Eli Bradley and Billy Kaplan. The four of them were dubbed the Young Avengers and they began their quest to stop Kang the Conqueror. They were later on joined by Kate Bishop, Cassie Lang and the newer Vision. Teddy finally found out about his past when the Super Skrull showed up in New York and kidnapped him. That was how he found out that he was actually a Kree-Skrull Hybrid. In their attempts to rescue Teddy from the Super Skrull, the rest of the Avengers recruited speedster, Tommy Shepherd finalizing their little team.

Biography:
Born in Riverside, California, Beck experienced loss from an early age when his mother died. After being gifted with a camera from his uncle, Beck desired to become an actor in Hollywood films, a dream that was openly mocked by his father. Beck’s broken family life left him a self-concious and reclusive adolescent. When he gave up on acting, Beck still held on to the dream on playing a role in movie magic by becoming a stuntman. Over time, he branched off into special effects and eventually became a leading figure behind-the-scenes in the film industry. The dream of being center stage never really left Beck though, and over the years, he grew tired of being relegated to the background. After an actor was burned in a pyrotechnic effect gone wrong, Beck was blacklisted from the industry.
Ruined and unemployed, Beck soon found someone to project his contempt upon—the costumed hero. As heroes like Spider-Man and the Avengers stole the headlines of every major news outlet the world over, Beck believed that heroes were nothing more than con artists seeking the fame and fortune the public eye afforded them. After a fruitful heist with the criminal known as the Tinkerer, Beck had access to high end military and industrial technology beyond anything a Hollywood studio could manage. Fixating on the New York vigilante known as Spider-Man, Beck set about a scheme to mimic Spider-Man’s powers to frame the wallcrawler for a series of robberies and solve his money problems in the process.
Beck’s scheme worked for a time, confusing the young Spider-Man with his assortment of tricks and illusions and obstructing his spider-sense. However, Spider-Man was eventually able to overcome his tricks and Beck was put behind bars. The wannabe actor developed an alias of Dr. Ludwig Rinehart, a renowned psychiatrist, after using his time in prison to extensively educate himself in psychology and hypnosis. Out of prison and unable to find work due his criminal record, Beck prepares sweet revenge for Spider-Man.

Biography:
It was in the early hours of the morning, when the duskiness of night had yet to fade into the dawn of day, that a laborious heist was successfully performed by the marauder known as the Prowler, a career criminal who had been hired by the Roxxon Energy Corporation as part of a corporate sabotage and espionage conspiracy. Unbeknownst to the burglar, the robbery had given a genetically modified arachnid of monumental value the chance to creep unnoticed from the previously impenetrable biological laboratories of OsCorp Industries – stealing away to freedom in a dufflebag, the spider was unintentionally transported to the Brooklyn apartments of Aaron Davis, the man whose life was hidden behind the Prowler's mask.
Scurrying about the foreign interior of its newly occupied habitat with intentions of embarking on an escape, the experimental arachnid soon encountered the young and highly impressionable Miles Morales. Safely separated from the constant chaos and turbulence of the criminal underworld, Miles had been presented with the chance to improve his life – accepted into the Brooklyn Visions Academy, a private and prestigious charter school, he was afforded the rare opportunity to experience a higher education uniquely centred around his personal enthusiasm for learning. Wishing to share his news of acceptance and victory with Uncle Aaron, Miles had rushed off to the infested apartments. Mere moments after his arrival, the spider's fangs had sunk into his flesh.
Miles reacted violently to the unprovoked venom attack upon his central nervous system, his body forcing a seizure as it underwent a mutagenic metamorphosis – by the time he had once more regained full consciousness, his newly obtained arachnoid abilities had begun to manifest themselves, granting him multiple superhuman physical attributes including superior speed, strength, and reflexes. Amongst said augmentations, Miles also possessed a highly responsive "spider-sense" and the ability to camouflage himself to the threshold of being able to achieve an effective form of invisibility in any tested environment.
Quickly coming to the false conclusion that he was a mutant, or Homo sapiens superior, who was first beginning to manifest superhuman characteristics as a result of a naturally occurring genetic anomaly, Miles opted to suppress his newly-acquired powers, fearing the severe social repercussions that would undoubtedly accompany the label – sharing the information of his mutation with only one other, Ganke Lee, Miles was determined to live an ordinary life free of crime-fighting and heroism. Ganke, however persistently encouraged Miles to utilise his powers for the betterment of human society.
After having been quite unceremoniously shoved into a rather expensive and highly authentic Spider-Man Halloween costume, Miles took to patrolling the streets for the first time. As his powers bore an incredible resemblance to the hero whose suit he donned as a disguise, he quickly attracted the attention of Maxwell Dillon, a Sinister Six member otherwise known as Electro – the victorious showdown against Electro quickly caught the attention of Director Nicholas J. Fury Jr. and, having recognised the sheer power and potential that the boy possessed, inducted him into the Avengers as the youngest standing member.

Biography:
James’ life really started when he met Steve Rogers. He took it upon himself to become the protector of sorts of the scrawny blond, who picked fights with far too many people. However he saw past that and the two were best friends since then. After Pearl Harbor was attacked, Bucky enlisted in the army. During this time, he was separated from his best friend. It wasn’t until a year later that he was reunited with his best friend. Hydra captured he and his Howling Commandos and while Bucky tried to keep the officers’ attention away from his men, he fell sick and was taken into isolation and experimented on. This is where the basis of the Winter Soldier was created. It was about a month later that Steve infiltrated the base and this was the first time the two friends had seen one another in over a year. Also, this was the first time Bucky saw Steve after the serum had been given to him, finding his friend that he’d once dwarfed, now taller than him.
Several months later on a mission, the two and the now named Howling Commandos were on a train when a fight broke out. In it, Bucky was lost, falling down into an icy ravine below and considered dead.
However, unknown to Steve, Hydra found James and this is when the Soldier was fully created. He survived the fall due to the experimentation by Arnim Zola previously. He was given the metal arm as well as having all memories of his former life removed, a clean slate to condition him into the Winter Soldier. He was kept for long periods of time frozen, taking from cryofreeze when needed over the next fifty years. With his skills as an assassin and his unknown past he became mostly a ghost story within the intelligence community.
Now fast forward fifty something years. Captain America had been thawed, the Avengers saved New York and the world. Bucky was awakened once more. It was realized that HYDRA had still been active all these years, hidden within SHIELD. And he was sent to help HYDRA’s goal. Yet that didn’t go according to plan as his former best friend managed to break through decades of HYDRA conditioning, resulting in the Soldier saving Steve. Months later they finally managed to track him down, afraid, paranoid, slowly regaining his memories and wracked with the guilt of having killed dozens of people. He’d been told he was helping the world, only to realize he’d just about brought it to an end. This led to months of healing, struggling to remember who he was and weekly psych evaluations. However, now with most of his memories recovered, Bucky is helping his fellow Avengers track down remnants of HYDRA as well as other missions.

Biography:
Born in the People’s Republic of China, Húnán Province, Shàngqì is the son of a criminal genius known in most circles of the Chinese underworld under aliases, such as “Mr. Han,” “Zheng Zu,” or “the Devil Doctor;” most intelligence agencies know him as Dr. Fù Mǎnzhōu. Dr. Fù raised Shàngqì to be an expert tactician and martial artist, using his wealth and connections to allow the young man to train with the greatest masters of combat the world over. After becoming a master in his own right, Shàngqì came into contact with British Intelligence and learned the nature of his father’s work—the international drug trade, human trafficking, assassinations, and political corruption. From that day on, Shàngqì rebelled from his father and worked to undermine his criminal empire.
For a time after the revelation of father’s sins, Shàngqì worked for British Intelligence, hoping to use their resources to disrupt Dr. Fù’s hold on the criminal underworld. In his lifelong battle against Dr. Fù, Shàngqì made connections with major intelligence agencies, like S.H.I.E.L.D. and MI6, occasionally working as an agent to tackle major crimes and international villains. When venturing outside of government agencies, Shàngqì worked with the Heroes for Hire to dismantle a crime syndicate known as “the Corporation” and the Fantastic Four to battle the Nazi terror organization, HYDRA. In his travels, Shàngqì developed lasting friendships with heroes Iron Fist, White Tiger, and Spider-Man, as well a rivalry with Hong Kong-British agent, Shen Kuei, also known as the Cat. When he witnessed his father’s death, Shàngqì retired to a remote village in China and became a fisherman.
After years in solitude, Shàngqì came out of retirement to topple a terror cell in America. He was soon recruited into the reorganized Heroes for Hire and later collaborated with MI-13 and the Avengers. Only recently has Shàngqì learned the horrifying truth, that his father was resurrected by rogue agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. What this means for the Master of Gōngfu and the world at large has yet to be revealed.

Biography:
Anya Corazon was born and raised in Puerto Rico. Born to a Puerto Rican father and Mexican mother – she lived much of her early life in the ‘Latino’ quarter, her family too poor to move away to pastures new. Her father, Gilberto Corazon, worked as an investigative reporter, while her mother had unfortunately passed away when she was very young. The Corazon family remained living in Puerto Rico until Anya was around eight – by which time she had near enough raised herself. Streetwise and tough, she was clearly the outcome of the area in which she lived– although there remained a sweet and innocent spark within her. Desperate to move her before she became any more influenced by the rough area in which they lived – her and her father up and moved to New York, moving to a small flat in Brooklyn.
While initially detesting the move – Anya quickly found herself adoring some of the finer things in life – and as much as she believed she missed her former home, the better schooling, the time she got to spend with father and the excitement of big city life were more than enough to sway her. Attending a better grade and middle school – she found herself naturally quick learner – a girl who was popular because of her brains- but also of her streetwise and sensible attitude. She had seen and tasted danger – and they respected her for coming out of it unscathed.
She continued to live with her father for years. While they were by no means a wealthy family – they were able to get by, with Anya able to keep up with various fashion trends – and was able, with a little saving, to buy most of the things that she needed to keep her ‘cool’ at school. During his absences, she was left in the care of neighbours and friends of Gilberto.
However, while one can take the girl from the projects, one can’t take the projects from the girl. As she continued to age – puberty saw the resurgence of her feisty attitude. While she had often been a carefree girl at school – she noted that others aged, they became all the more bitchy, and formed groups which singled out and bullied others. While initially a ‘girl who could get on with most, Anya couldn’t stand how her former friends treated others about the campus, and she soon split off from the group, becoming something of a loner. Making it her own personal duty to right the wrongs of these self-proclaimed Princesses, Anya began resorting to violent justice.
Despite getting into trouble on numerous occasions, she couldn’t seem to stop herself from aiding those about her. She’d charge headlong into verbal disputes – that on getting violent – she finished with a flurry of punches (often mistimed, miscued and poorly placed.) As much as her father asked her to stop – to try and ignore others problems, he couldn’t get through to her - Anya believing that justice should be served in any way possible – and knowing that sometimes getting physical was the only way to get through to a few people.
It was on her first day starting Milton Summer’s High School, co-inciding with her 16th birthday, that she picked a fight with a ‘jock’ who’d been bullying some poor defenceless children about the campus. She followed the boy and group of his friends from her school to Brooklyn Bridge – wishing to exact some revenge upon them after picking on one of her friends. Unfortunately, she and the boys found themselves caught in a war between two warring supernatural factions – The Sisterhood of the Wasp and Spider Society. Fatally injured in the small skirmish, Anya was saved by a man named ‘Miguel’ – a member of the Spider Society and magician, who imparted some of his powers into her. A tattoo formed upon her arm, giving her strange an mystical powers – enhanced strength, agility, and an armoured chitinous carapace.
From that point on, her life was to change completely. Considering herself a hero Anya joined the Spider Society as a hunter, working with them in an attempt to stop the Sisterhood of the Wasp. It threatened both her family and the few friends she had made at Milton Highschool, but as always, her sense of justice prevailed. Undaunted by the new role she was to take on, Anya started going by the name of Arana – believing that it was her responsibility to use the powers she had to protect those about her (even if it meant trying to juggle homework and heroing duties.)
Since becoming a hero, Anya has undergone various changes – in her abilities, allies and costumes. Having worked closely with Spider-Man, a number of people began to refer to her as Spider-Girl, a name she would eventually take after initially spurning it. She would, albeit briefly, form a fast friendship with Rikki Barnes and become part of the ‘Young Allies’, a short lived group of young heroes that was quickly disbanded with Barnes’ death. She would lose her powers completely, having had her carapace torn from her body, work as a de-powered vigilante, and finally regain powers similar to those of Spider-Man following the events of ‘Spider Island’.
She is no stranger to loss, having had one of her closest friends and father killed, but no matter the issues that face her, Anya, now Spider-Girl, has always found a way to overcome the problems of the past and move on to an ever bright future, y’know, especially now she’s in the Avengers Academy and all.
Totally random question- But if we're finding that we do actually have more than enough time to RP and are managing our characters well - are we allowed to create a second blog to submit a secondary application? Or do you prefer one character per person? :)
The character limit is, at the moment, two characters per role-player. This second character may be picked up at any time at the discretion of the administrators. Deciding factors may include activity, posting level, and total time within the role-play. For the moment, no second characters will be accepted. We would ideally like to be open for at least a week before allowing multiples to be picked up.
I would like to apologise as there is a slight scheduling delay - the application acceptance time has been delayed to 11:30 PM (GMT) as I find myself in need of the extra time so as to properly create the necessary character graphics that make this role-play so visually pleasing. Send in some last minute applications if you have any!
