  if you play ANY sort of villainous character - from a pick-pocket to a full-scale serial killer - and i follow you, please know that iâve come into this FULL WELL what iâm signing up for. i donât expect you to soften your character for me, iâm not going to complain when they arenât nice to my characters, and i honestly probably love watching them do what they do. not all characters are going to be the âgood guysâ, or the type of villain that can be redeemed. not everyone has a tragic backstory that makes them do the things they do - some people enjoy it, others just do it because they can, and for some itâs all they know. yes, there are villains with a soft spot or two - this doesnât mean they need to change everything. our characters become friends/lovers even though my character is a âgood guyâ? you keep doinâ you. keep stealing those purses, killing those people, burning those villages to the ground.Â
    tl;dr - I DIDNâT FOLLOW YOU BECAUSE I WANTED SOMETHING SOFT AND EASY - you keep beinâ a villain, babe, cause youâre  just as excellent as the heroes.

A gala. A formal event where the poshest of the posh gather for celebration ofâŠwho knows what. Usually reserved for royals and blue-bloods and yet somehow Mr. Mint found himself roped into this situation by none other than Baroness Von Bon Bon herself.
Mint hardly knew how to tie his shoelaces, much less a bowtie! And yet here he was dressed in a white dress shirt and pink blazer with coattails in the back. He felt silly like this! Silly and uncomfortable! How in gobstoppers did the royal family wear this day in and day out. He would go insane if he had to wear it one more minute, and heâd only been wearing it for about thirty seconds so far.
Bon Bon admittedly had to dress him. Mint had no clue what he was doing or how to put these things on properly. Though every time the Baroness would get her hands near his bowtie Mint would become irate and begin pushing them away, and she would have to fight till he gave up and he let her adjust it. Why, dressing Mint was just as difficult as dressing a toddler!
And when finally she had straightened his bowtie to her liking, Mint reached up and gave a tug to loosen it again. If he was honest this material was getting more and more uncomfortable by the second, and if he had to wear it then it was going to be lose around the neck because he didnât want to choke to death, just to impress a few people at a party!
âWhy do I even have to go to this shindig anyway, eh?â He huffed sharply.
There were few things that could make Mint snap at someone, but putting him in uncomfortable clothes was probably the second thing at the top of the list.
He was really beginning to miss his plaid.

Mr. Mint had been lead into the castle by a red nib. He had always thought the little things strange. Their incoherent gibbering was interrupted now and again by blurbs of common speech that only furthered Mintâs suspicion that they functioned like a hive mind. The long awkward walk was finally brought to an end when the thing jabbered to get the lordâs attention.Â
And so there Mint stood, unable to look at Licorice, because his eyes were focused on this strange little creature flailing its arms and talking nonsense. His shoulders were tensed in discomfort and his brow crinkled with unease.Â
Why he felt so out of place that he failed to actually talk to Licorice and address the elephant in the room. The...elephant in the room was not an elephant however. It was a bowl like basket that Mint was holding, woven from frosted wheat and covered with a blanket. And something under that blanket was moving...Â

The lumberjack smiled and hugged her firmly to himself, not enough to cause her any discomfort of course, but hard enough to show how much heâd missed her. Too often he spent weeks, sometimes months working for the sawmill out in the Peppermint Forest. He was always happy to be back in the town, especially when it meant he would get to see the lovely Frostine! Heâd been admittedly smitten with her since her kingdom integrated with Candyland, and the two of them got along just fine.Â
He gave a deep breath and a contented hum as he slowly set her down, nevertheless he did not remove his arms from around her. âNo yârâmajesty, no tricks! Iâm just a logger not a magician. Though I can make a mountain of chocolate chip pancakes disappear in sixty seconds flat! No, I simply couldnât help myself when I spotted yah! â He hummed again and smiled at her, his eyes shining. âHow have yah been?âÂ
 Oh, the Queen could not stop grinning! There was just something about Mister Mint that really made her so happy, so full of warmth. She had to admit, out of all the citizens of Candyland, Mister Mint was by far one of her favorite people, at the top of her list, in fact. Her glass heels gently touched the ground as her set her down, and she gently placed her hands on his shoulders, looking up into his face with a serene sort of smile.Â
 The frost monarch could not help but giggle lightly at Mintâs words - once again he managed to allow her to throw her sense of propriety and duty out the window. She felt more at ease, like she could be moreâŠinformal. And while part of her feared that, because she was one to keep up appearancesâŠfor once she wanted to throw all caution to the wind and live a little.Â
 â Iâm so happy to see you again as well, Mister Mint! Iâve beenâŠquite busy, as of late, but I found myself in great need of a reprieve from my duties. At least for a little while. And if I may confess something, IâŠwell, to be frank, you were the first person I really wanted to see. â Pink tinted her cheeks as she gave Mister Mint a shy but happy smile. She wasnât sure if it was obvious to everyone else, perhaps it was, butâŠshe was very much fond of the peppermint lumberjack. And perhaps more than just mere fondness.
Taking one arm from around her waist he tilted his hat a bit and gave a whistle. His cheeks deepened in color and he looked off to the side, hardly able to hide his flattered smile from her. Frostine was just awful sweet! Why, he would even say she was Peppermint-errific. She likely didnât mean anything by it he was sure, but it didnât stop him from blushing.
Golly, the queen sure did make him feel real special. It warmed him right to the sweetheart in his chest! He radjusted his hat and brought his hand back to her hip.
âWell, golly! You sure do know how to put a guy at the top of the world, donât yah!â

 The spherical man wandered around through Peppermint Forest, whispering 'oh dear's to himself every now and then as he could hear the faint sound of peppermint bark being harvested. He rushed off, scooting on the snowy ground and holding his hands together. "O-Oh, Mr. Mint! Have you seen a gummy bunny near here by any chance?"
He heard the gumdrop fellow before he saw him. He stopped midswing of his ax, the sudden interruption in motion caused him to stumble a bit. Luckily he was a fairly balanced man and he managed to stay upright. He looked to Jolly, blinking for a moment and hummed.Â
âA gummy bunny?â He stuck his ax in a stump nearby and lifted his hat, scratching his head. âWhy, no sir, canât say I have. Do yah need some help findinâ the lilâ one?âÂ

Mint placed his hand on his hip and stared at the bag curiously. This was an odd happenstance. What could possibly be going on here? It was obvious Duke was indeed busy. That meant no fistfight, not today anyway, which was a shame cause Mint was so ready to wallop him! But he didnât want to interfere with something that was truly important, even still...
His brow quirked up with a confused curiosity.Â
âDid someone in the royal family have a baby?âÂ
What was so peculiar to him was that if that were the case then surely he -and the whole kingdom- would have known about it. But this was all strange, why else would Duke be carrying these things?Â

Of course, she knew full well it was wrong to play favorites. Being a Queen, she did truly believe in treating everyone with fairness, that no one was to feel left out, and that her subjects were equally deserving of her protection and respect. But in all of Candyland, there was one who certainly gained her favor so much that she felt a surge of excitement whenever she traveled to his home in the Peppermint Forest.Â
And that was her current destination today. It was a strange thing, that whenever she was away from Mint for too long, she would feel a hole growing in her heart. And it pained her so much that it nearly became unbearable. While she traveled to the Peppermint Forest by Royal Coach, as soon as they arrived at his home she went up to his abode alone. She did not need her guard with her, she didnât want it. She desired to be alone with him, as scandalous and inappropriate as that was.Â
Though, she found herself not caring in the least bit about how informal this was, and steeling her determination she knocked upon the door of Mister Mintâs home. While she kept it contained and kept composed on the surface, inside her heart raced in joy, and she was quite excited to see him again.Â
Likewise Mint often found himself thinking about Frostine. He considered himself fairly close with her, though he admittedly wished to be closer. And at night, after heâd worked hard enough that his hands felt as though they would split open from the cramping brought on by baring his ax, he would relax at his dinner table and think about her.Â
When he had heard the knock on his door however he nearly jumped through the ceiling. He hadnât quite been expecting company. Barkley let out a low âboofâing sound and flailed his short legs around excitedly before he was able to really stand up. He bound for the door, his red ears audibly flopping about.Â
âI wonder who that could be.â Mint hummed, tapping as he approached. When he opened the door his mouth fell open. He was in such a state of shock he almost forgot to grab Barkley by the collar to stop him from jumping excitedly on the lady. âFrostine!âÂ

Frostine had grown increasingly flustered, albeit silently so, when she reached out to trace Mister Mintâs scar on his chest. A bold, unprecedented move on her part, and most inappropriate. Still, she was drawn to it, and felt the need to examine it, to touch it. Her gaze fixated on it, until Mister Mint took her hand in his own. It was then she finally lifted her head, her face mere inches from his and her fingers curling in on his hand to grip it.Â
There it was again. That feeling of her heart fluttering. A curious sensation, but most wonderful. Just like him.Â
The monarchâs eyes were locked onto his, and she gave him a soft smile. â I would like to hear it. Only if you want to tell your tale, however, I will not press it. I will say this: the thought of you getting hurt, or that youâve gotten hurt, deeply troubles me. I would never want to see you come to harm. I most assuredly would protect you, Mister Mint. IâŠhope thatâs not too forward of me to say. â Finally she glanced away shyly, biting her lower lip in apprehension.Â
Mintâs own ever-present blush tipped the color wheel to red. The sentiment was awfully sweet, just like the girl who had said it. He laughed a little and looked down at the ground a moment before letting go of her had. He removed the hat from atop his head and ran a hand through his hair.Â
âWell, alrighty. Hoo...where to begin...â He hummed and moved to fine a place to sit while he thought. âWe were out in Peppermint Forest, in the deep woods where the candycane trees grow thickest.â His leg bounced a bit as he recalled the story.Â
