Personally.... I fucking hate Yelena x Bob. Like, nuh-uh.

Yelena is Bob's emotional support human. Her word is law and if she says the darkness can get lighter if they help eachother, then it can.

Bob is Yelena's little brother. He is someone to care for and to make her feel human again, a person who needs her help and love.

And, for Yelena, there probably is a bit of projecting because of Natasha. But Bob probably also projects a bit because he never had someone love him the way Yelena, and the whole team itself, now does. Both on a more subconsious level cause they probably don't realize it, but its there.

idk, I love their friendship. Friendship to lessen mental illness and save the world.

someone in the marvel writing room sat down with the thunderbolts* script a couple years ago & said, "this time we're making SURE they're not coworkers" & marvel was saved & the world rejoiced

Another nice thing about Thunderbolts* is that there's just no romance at all. It's been too long since I've watched something that didn't have romance in it and I didn't realize how much I needed that. Its a breath of fresh air.

When Bob says something like “the highs are so high but when it’s low……” I had tears in my eyes. One sentence, that I myself have said so many times but hearing it caught me so off-guard.

If anyone finds the movie’s ending stupid, all I can say is this: sometimes you just need enough people to care. You just need someone to force their presence in your life. You need to hear, over and over again, that you are enough - not because you’re not listening the first time someone says it, but because your own voices are much louder and much more recurrent. It’s someone bringing you back to a consciousness that helps you realise you’re not as worthless as you actually feel… as useless. And sometimes, having that helps so much that it will get me through the day without a black silence echoing all around me. And that’s what Thunderbolts does. That’s why it actually matters beyond being in the MCU and being a movie.

I love the thought of the new avengers showing up in doomsday with bob in tow and everyone else being like

“who the fuck is that”

“bob”

“why is he here”

“he’s our friend”

something about the final climax of thunderbolts not being this huge, explosive battle where the villain is irredeemable and the heroes summon the power of the galaxies to stop them-

but how the final climax was quiet. the darkest shadow, a void falling over new york. it wasn't loud, there wasn't any screaming. it descended upon the city and the people didn't have a chance to react before it swallowed them whole.

how the team's battle was internal, inside their own minds, instead of a huge punchy shoot-off. (especially with this group's skill set, it was unexpected) how they all fought through the shame and guilt and their worst nightmares only to embrace each other anyway. the villain fighting against himself only to realize he is allowed to be loved, despite it all.

how they are all fucked up and have done terrible things but saved the city by holding each other tightly, so tightly that bob realizes the void isn't all he is, and light always comes again.

this movie had so much heart, it made me feel something for a team again, we are so back.

Iron Man 1 really said "the actual bad guy is the white capitalist who is selling arms under the table to both sides in order to extend the war and make as much money from it as possible," and Iron Man 2 really said "the white capitalist who gives a platform to people with bad intentions in order to make a buck is the reason the bad intentions have the opportunity to prosper and cause untold damage," and Iron Man 3 really said "the real terrorist is the white capitalist who will create and use fear to manipulate governments and the public in order to sell a product," and I really don't think enough people recognise this.
