the most valuable thing
it was pouring rain when you showed up on my porch. you were crying and i didn’t know why. you asked me if i loved you as if you didn’t deserve love – when our lips locked i did my best to answer your question
because i know what it’s like to have your heart shattered into an unsolveable jigsaw puzzle. and this was why i never made a move but never knew it was torturing you
the world is a harsh place and everyone is fucked up. it’s all peachy on the outside - but i know what lies within when i was in pain & tearing and so i gave up on caring.
but
as i held you i remember what i once read how one must treat one’s heart with gentle- ness because a girl’s heart is very delicate and vulnerable & yet beautiful
like the wing of a monarch butterfly
