Text: What can I say? I was fine with knowing the basics to take care of myself, but when I found myself wanting to take care of someone else, I realized I needed to be better. Mary was suddenly and endearingly reminded of Sky as the girl got distracted by the idea of rainbows. "Mmm, yes. Not to say they're right but mamas and daddys can get focused on their babies being safe. I feel so lucky that your brother is so wonderful and truly loves Sky, but I won't lie to you. I would have wanted him to find anyone who could keep him from slavery." It had always been her stated desire for her sons to find people they loved, but in the end in her deepest heart, she just needed them to be safe. She smiled. "But that's just part of their thoughts. They also want their babies to be happy and in love too."

Text: I knew the basics when it came to cooking but he was the reason I wanted to improve and now I'm constantly asking you for ideas or tips. Just... be patient with him and remember if he seems distant that it has nothing to do with you or dad. He's just not good with parents and he happened to claim someone that has some of the sweetest and nicest parents and he's not sure how to handle that when it's directed at him. He does take care of me and he makes me happier than I think even he realizes.
Text: You know we won't start a fight just to fight, so if it happens then there's a valid reason. I did warn him that you'd likely want to hug him, but I also told him that as affectionate as the Evans family is, we also respect personal space too.
Text: It is good that they teach some of that in Institute, but I did notice you asking more questions when you started mentioning Robin in your calls. I think that's when I knew it was serious. “I love cheerleading,” Kyla confirmed with a quiet smile. “And I am good at it.” She’d never been told by a parent that being bad at a life skill is anywhere near okay. “But isn’t messy bad, Miss? I don’t like messy. I’m more of a ‘pretty things’ person. Could I find a claim like that?”
"That is the absolute best. When what we love matches what we're good at." She smiled warmly. "You can absolutely find a pretty claim. But just remember messy can be pretty too. Like a rainbow after the rainstorm. Flowers growing out of dirt."
Text: Cooking isn't his strong point, but I wasn't the best cook either until after he and I claimed. I'm only a little worried because I don't want to overwhelm my Dom, but if dad is going to talk cars then I think they're going to be fine. I've been saying the same thing to my Dom, in hopes of reassuring him that you're going to love him. I mean, we wouldn't have made it this long together if he wasn't truly incredible. Which is why I just go with the flow, mom, and you know I'll go after anyone that tries to hurt him, and Sammy will likely be right there beside me. I would have to pull out the pouting if you left it at a single hug. Honestly, whenever you and dad can free should be fine. I spoke with my boss already that my parents were flying in this week and he's okay with my shifting my hours a bit this week if I need to.
Text: We learn what we need to learn to do what we love. You didn't have a reason to learn to cook until you wanted to take care of your Dom. He will absolutely want to talk about cars. Text: I didn't think I'd need to ask twice, but it never hurts to ask once! I can work with tonight, and Robin is already aware I wanted to have you guys over so I'll give him a heads up and we'll put together dinner for us! Sky's not mentioned that him and Hunter are planning to try and get us all together before you guys leave. We can tell you all about the move, and you'll get to see our new place and how it's finally starting to feel like home for us.
Text: Are you sure? I know how busy you both are. I don't want to make any trouble for you. Maybe I can come and make dinner with you! Oh, well you know your brother. He was more excited to show me his and Sir Hunter's shirts and how they match the puppy's. There's no way to understand how him brain works. I'll talk to him and get things more settled and let you know. I can't wait! I'm just so happy for you both. Also a little bit happy for me that I get to see you both and give you both the biggest hugs.
“Im glad he has someone to talk to about it too, because I could never. I’m next to useless in the kitchen,” Kyla chuckled. “Yes, well my father’s very prestigious in his circle. He wants all of us to have his version of perfect claims and it just doesn’t work that way.” She really liked Mrs. Evans. She was warm, and easy to talk to.
"There are so many things to be good at. I'm sure you've got a lot of other things you excel at. I know Sky has mentioned that you're a cheerleader, right?" She nodded along as she listened and let Kyla get out her thoughts. "No, I'm afraid it just doesn't. My own claim was the exact opposite of perfect in my parents eyes and look at us now." She held out her hands to encompass her whole beautiful life. "I've got my Dom, who is the love of my life and my partner and I've got my beautiful boys. Is it perfect? Not even close. It's messy and hard work and I wouldn't have it any other way. You'll find your messy, wonderful claim too. Don't you worry." She knew that she was speaking in opposition to the girl's parents, but she didn't actually care in that moment. She reached out to squeeze her hand.
“Yes, I’ve discovered that he’s a great guy. And he likes to cook! Who knew?!” Hunter was an excellent chef, and always willing to fill her various cravings. “Appalachia, huh? Can’t say I’ve ever been there. Though any place smaller than Lima is probably not for me. I get bored easily.” She thought about what Mrs, Evans said, but she was pretty sure she was wrong. “My parents don’t really care if I grow. They just want me to find someone to settle down with so I’m taken care of.”
"I can't tell you how happy it makes me to have someone to talk to about cooking. And I also get a picture of just about every meal from my son." She chuckled. "You're almost there right now. The Appalachian mountains go from Georgia through my home in Kentucky, parts of Ohio, and even all the way up to New York. We're a bit more downhome back in Kentucky though." She let her full accent out to play as she said those words. She considered what Kyla said and put it together with things that Sky had let slip over the years about both Archer and Hunter and a picture that she didn't quite like began to form. She kept her voice even though as she spoke. "I suppose I can understand that. The consequences of not finding someone are a parent's worst nightmare."

F2F: "Mom!" Sam grinned, as he stepped out of the main entrance to the hotel, onto the sidewalk. He walked up to his mother and immediately enveloped her into a big hug. "God, I've missed you," he chuckled.
F2F: After spending a slightly exhausting afternoon with Sky, Mary was happy to head to the hotel to relax with Dwight. All exhaustion left when she heard that magic word though. She looked up and smiled brightly at Sam, opening her arms to him. "Sammy. I missed you so much." She held on probably longer than a grown adult wanted their mom to hug them in public, but she didn't care.
