This figure is obviously inspired by Ridley Scott’s Alien movie and is found on Paisley Abbey in Scotland where it was added during repair works carried out in the early 1990s

Fountain of Youth
Designed to look like a Roman grotto, this public fountain in Allison Park, PA, operated from 1938-1955, when it was abruptly shuttered due to supposed contamination. The handle pump is now gone, and the water isn’t drinkable, but the space inside does occasionally flow with fresh water.
The fountain was built as a WPA project during the depression, shortly after the spring was discovered. It’s actually unclear on whether this is a freshwater spring or an ongoing leak from a nearby golf course reservoir, but the water was declared pure only two years before it supposedly became contaminated.
There’s an urban legend that the fountain was shuttered because it is a real Fountain of Youth, or at the very least has magical properties. Why else would the sign have been repaired as recently as 2009? If you’d like to visit it yourself, the Fountain of Youth is about ¾ of a mile down Kummer Rd. once you turn off Ingomar Rd. There’s a pull off spot on the right, and an overgrown path leading over a creek and down to the fountain.
Last week we explored the abandoned 5-star hotel Monte Palace on the island of Sao Miguel in the Azores. Built in the 80s overlooking the amazing Sete Cidades, the hotel failed almost immediately and fell into ruin. The views are still amazing though…
Once part of Pennhurst State School in Spring City, Pennsylvania, this dilapidated building sits among other ruins of this long forgotten horror filled institution.
