This blog has been active for a while now, surprise surprise! But the character has returned to Balmung and will be headed on new adventures there. If youāre interested in keeping up with all of that, please follow:

Iāll be leaving this one as-is for Old Timesā Sake. Lots of good memories to be preserved.
During that time Iāve changed servers along with some friends and been on something of an extended hiatus from FFXIV RP. But 2018 is here and with it chances for a fresh start. New ideas, new projects, a whole new bag of tricks same old smug thief-catte. To borrow the tried and true quote...
General Theme: Bad Businessman ā Squirrel Nut Zippers
There's a man going around town
Spreading lies
He's the bad businessman
Does his business while he can
He just does his business bad.
Sad Theme: The Bullet ā The Devil Makes Three
Well he opened up this shop at the age of nineteen
Stealing anything the eye could see
Said gather 'round you people, anything you need
Keep my name on your lips
And put the word out on the street
And I will rob 'til my fingers they are down to the bone
Wander 'til I can't remember my own home
Drink 'til I don't know the meaning of alone
'Til that bullet flies to carry me home
Fight Theme: Bourbon Street ā Jeff Tuohy
Try to swim with me and you're bound to drown
Throw you a line while you're going down
Yeah, I know this street and I own this crowd
And my only companion is a lightning cloud
I seem real nice and easy to trust
Ashes to ashes and dust to dust
I'm gonna lead you a path to self destruct
On this crazy train that I conduct
Love Theme: Rum - Alestorm
The time has come
The time for a drink
But I don't want vodka or mead
None of these drinks will quench my thirst
Rum is the drink that I need
Happy Theme: Mr. Pinstripe Suit ā Big Bad Voodoo Daddy
Now he strolls through the city like a big ol' alley cat
With his pinstripe suit and a big bad voodoo hat
I don't believe I ever saw him without a kitten on his hand
And no one swings as hard to the big bad voodoo band
Hey Mr. Pinstripe Suit, hey Mr. Hi De Hi De Ho
Well I know you got the answers we all wanna know
Mr. Wingtip Shoes, hey Mr. Always On The Go
Well I know you got the answers we all wanna know, yeah
Death Theme: Glitter & Gold ā Barns Courtney
Do you walk in the valley of kings?
Do you walk in the shadow of men
Who sold their lives to a dream?
Do you ponder the manner of things
In the dark
The dark, the dark, the dark
This oneās pretty tough. Itās fun to try and find a song that sounds like it would suit the character as well as being relevant lyric-wise. Thankfully an awesome friend got me into the habit of making inspiration playlists for characters to listen to as I play them so I already had most of these tucked away.
You donāt have to, obviously, but itās a lot of fun as well as a challenge.
[Ok seriously this time] Love Theme: Wait So Long ā Trampled by Turtles
I could never pretend that I don't love you.
You could never pretend that I'm your man.
That's exactly the way that I want it.
That's exactly the way that I am.

- Special Abilities:
Smoke and MirrorsĀ ā Maāsae depends heavily on the element of surprise in combat and creating an environment of controlled chaos. A potion slipped out of his sleeves to temporarily blind or paralyze is a pretty standard trick. Something combustible is more his speed if he needs to steal an advantage. Heās never without smoke bombs as a go-to move. Heās even learning to harness his own volatile aether to create flashy distractions though this still tends to backfire on him. Itās not fighting dirty if it keeps you alive, though it would never fly in an environment like Grindstone or a Tournament
Opportunist āĀ Never stop moving. If he sees a weak point heāll grab for it with both hands. It leaves him more susceptible to feints but he tends to prefer armor gaps that heās created himself either through distractions or tricks.
- Weaknesses:
Aetherically Incompetent āĀ He canāt sense it. He can see it if he concentrates and a favored pastime of his is watching the aether flow of his mage friends but in a combat situation he canāt sit still long enough. Spells come at him seemingly out of nowhere and prolonged exposure makes him sick. His mantra when dealing with mages is to end the fight before they know it began.
Mid-RangeĀ āĀ Up close Maāsae is decent with daggers and street brawling punches. Even with heavily-armored opponents he can find a place to slip a blade. At a decent distance he can deal out heavy alchemical explosives or corrosives. Mid-range heās at a bit of a loss since he canāt reach with his blades and would rather not risk burning himself.

the warrior is most commonly used to symbolize the victory of a war. raised in the image of their trainer, and at most times, their parental figure, the connection that is fundamental in building relationships is extremely weak. although warriors find it difficult to trust, once they do, it is a bind that lasts until death. while warriors are fiercely loyal, they are extremely wary of strangers. their greatest wish is to be credited in their achievements, and they tend to isolate themselves if they aren't validated, taking things personally. warriors tend to things for the greater good, and destroy to protect.
fictional characters that are warriors: arya stark, indiana jones, lisbeth salander, sirius black
Sae came to find me as I was preparing to have the barrels filled with the first of the artificially aged rum. I had a small cask with me for tasting and he agreed to taste it with me.
While we talked I spoke of the reason I was⦠encouraged to leave my village and that the last of my money was now gone. I think someone mixed a little too muchĀ āStarlight Cheerā into Maāsaeās drinks of late because he offered me his gilpā well, A gilpurse with coin. He seemed so moved I thought he would cry. He even spoke of giving samples of the Starlight Special away.
Samples. Of Rum!
For free!
Perhaps I should warn the others that Sae has been replaced by an impostor.
* Extends pretty much only to his troupe and gang. Anyone else he would sell for a corn chip. Actually, heād still probably sell Athrun or Kherem for half a corn chip. Or even the crumbs in the bottom of the bag.
And they spent the whole long, dusty walk back laughing about how awesome it was until Athrun scolded Tai for being irresponsible and Sae for nearly blowing up Tai... again.
