A Letter to the IkeSen Fandom
As much as I love the idea of the popularity contest and getting rewards for it, this year’s event is basically a repeat of last year’s event. Not that it’s not great for the new players but the old players are left wondering year after year what’s the point in the popularity polls if it only dictates who will be in future events. To a point where many of the content of the favorite characters are unobtainable and, for the unpopular characters, no content at all (or subpar content at best).
I know many in the fandom echo my thoughts on recent events and the constant lack of diverse content. There’s also the quality in the content which has gone down due to the rush in which the content is being pushed out. Either grammar and punctuation or even reusing the plots from other events.
It has become obvious the intent is to make as much profit as possible but at the expense of the customers? Not that I’m against Cybird making a profit it’s the way in which it’s making the profit is turning players away from the game. It has turned into a pay-for-content and pay-to-win game. Many of the people I used to interact with in the fandom has left or have stopped playing because they can’t afford to and are discouraged by the sheer amount of event items they need to meet requirements to obtain content. I would love to support Cybird, but I do not have insurmountable amount of money to spend on the game but for the amount in which I can spend on the game I would like for it to be an investment I know will result in care for their characters and content.
As for the volume of which the events are being churned out, it’s fatiguing and with the inconsistent schedule for the lucky times has made it impossible to make the most out of the events. The story events is a race to get through the stories where I would like more time to sit and enjoy them, not worry about making lucky time so I can get the items I want. Also, it’ll be easier to spend money on game if the events spread out over the month…rather than having all of them at once. Then I can plan accordingly of how much money I will spend in each event instead of being overwhelmed with them and just giving up on doing an event because it has become impossible to prioritize which items and content I want.
I would love to speak about the unpopular characters but I have no experience in not having content of their favorite character. However, I have had the painful experience of watching all my friends being upset every time their characters are over looked for the more popular characters.
When was the last time we had Shingen content? What about Hideyoshi? Mitsunari? Yukimura? Sasuke? and of course, the one character that does not get content at all, Kennyo? And when they receive content, they often don’t stack up to content for Nobunaga, Mitsuhide, Masamune, Kenshin and Ieyasu.
This is not even including the added characters. What will come of them?
Why am I making this post? Well, to make the fandom’s frustration apparent. Sure many have moved on but for those of us who have been here for years and the ones who are just beginning their time in this fandom.
Don’t put all your votes into Nobunaga, Masamune, Mitsuhide, Kenshin, and Ieyasu. UPSET CYBIRD’S OBVIOUS RIGGING OF THE POPULARITY POLL.
