or the gang would be talking to local police and hotch would look over and gideon's just balls to the wall running for whatever reason. just running off like an old man escaping the retirement home, buck ass naked and free

I've always thought that s4 and s7 were the superior CM seasons, but which ones are your favourites now?

seasons 1 and 2 are my favorite. i think gideon is such an interesting character and the team dynamic is a lot more fixated yet unstable while he’s with them and he is so unhinged. the unsubs and overall episode pacing are unique and fun. instead of sticking to the formula of the later cm seasons, there are fun twists and surprises and very silly elements that make each episode exciting. every rewatch im always amazed that the early seasons really are banger after banger after banger

#season 4 is also one of my fav seasons. banger after banger.#but i do enjoy the freak element gideon brings to the early seasons #season 4 is more like the team operating as a well oiled machine #but since its not always fun to watch everything go perfectly bc theyre perfect they mix up the storytelling in creative ways #asks #anon #i think if you asked me five years ago i wouldve said 2 and 4 are my fav #and ten years ago i wouldve said i didnt even like watching season one #something about the editing and quality seemed so horrible then but so nostalgic now #seasons 3-5 used to be my favs for sure. i can tell bc i know those episodes by heart even when i havent seen them in years #season 7 has some bangers dont get me wrong #but i personally dislike quite a few of the popular epsiodes. like heathridge manor

rewatching cm and as fun as some of the episodes in the later season are, they just genuinely lose the plot after season three. the first few seasons follow a group of talented, intellectual individuals w their own strengths and weaknesses. but by season six they become a homogeneous hivemind with gaping holes in their logic to allow for the silly unsub of the week to get away with it long enough to make the episode interesting. the fleshed out characters become stereotypes of themselves. what do you mean legendary trekkie spencer reid doesnt know what twilight is? what do you mean he doesnt have email?

#i always use spencer as the example bc his are the most obvious #but to me emilys writing in season six has been egregious #she doesnt know… ANYTHING. season 2 emily wouldve laughed her ass off at some of the shit s6 emily cant figure out #and i keep seeing cme posts and i cant help but wonder how horrible it is #idk like the later seasons are always a bit hard to watch #but this time im finding it hard to get through season six

sometimes i remember how much jj seemed so repressed-lesbian-coded in the early seasons. we really couldve had it all

#thinking of the gay unsub episode where she identifies w him just wanting to admit to himself who he is #and will learning that his bff was gay and going to her like ‘hey. if u want to end this for. particular reasons. thats ok’#like he KNEW and was giving her an OUT #and she couldve TAKEN IT and started unpacking her feelings for (emily/penelope/whoever)#it is objectively funnier that she kept running away from that bc of course she would #but they spend so long pretending shes happy with her cookie cutter heterosexual lifestyle #(even if every once and a while they show pretty explicitly how grating that life is for her)#she deserved so much better as a character. what a waste

rewatching cm and to me morgan and hotch’s dynamic is by far the most underrated and compelling to me. not enough people talk about just how protective morgan is of hotch (a scene that rlly stood out to me was just how devastated morgan looked in 5x01 when they came to see hotch in the hospital). they also have crazy chemistry which is kind of hilarious when their actors supposedly had beef irl, but yes anyways hotchgan for the win, you’re one of the few people out there that GETS IT!!

i love morgan’s desperate attachment to hotch. time and again we see how morgan trusts hotch above all else—even above gideon. the only thing morgan doesnt trust hotch with is his own life
