Most of the people on this site who claim to like Harry Potter have 0 understanding of the messages and themes in the books, and less understanding of the actual events of the books, which makes it really fucking suck for me when an “analysis” or “list of problems” pops up on my dash and I have to whiz by it and still catch snippets of “i dont understand why a 15 year old who was subjected to abuse and trauma every year of his life is so moody and sulky, must be because boys are stinky lol”.

These are the kinds of people who become teachers and abuse the shit out of the undiagnosed mentally ill kids in class because they don’t understand how emotions and actions are filtered through the lens of trauma, and don’t care. 

Watch, if they find this post they’re going to say stupid shit about it and prove me entirely correct.

#i always have a sad chuckle when a snape hater goes on a rant#about how he’s the most evil man in the world #because he’s shitty in the classroom #i’ve lost count of how many have said #the immortal words #‘as an aspiring teacher myself’ #and i always pour one out for the kids who will end up under their watch  #because yes #snape is shitty in the classroom #and you shouldn’t aspire to being a teacher in the modern world if you’re going to behave as snape does #whose behaviour was in line with a magical school in a magical world in the 1990s  #…but nor should you be one #if you can’t see why #the abused boy #from a poverty stricken background #who is bullied mercilessly by the popular gang in the school #who is even lured towards his death as a ‘prank’ #and the faculty appear to side with his bullies #and he can’t talk to his best friend about it #and ends up pushing her away under awful humiliating circumstances #if you can’t see why that boy would end up joining a cult #then you also have no business being an adult in a position of responsibility over teenagers  #because the fact snape came back to the fold and didn’t die a loyal death eater #is barely short of miraculous #and miracles are in short supply in the real world
