I think bro’s the type of coworker whom you’d swear should be doing modeling part time but his actual side hustle is investing in AI (modern AU dark magic equivalent) and using it to give himself an advantage at work. Will absolutely deny that he’s utilising it while simultaneously defending its usage tho babsbsbs. If you question him about why his suspiciously ai-slopish mails and reports are so bad he will find a way to get your ass fired asap!
So..New quest found me on the beach. I wasn't really happy about this season to begin with, but now I just want to write my thoughts out and.. Honestly forget about it. (Wow how dramatical)
IMO it was a mess. Gameplay wise - less interaction, less free rewards. Reputation quests? Omg don't get me started on this. NPC costumes in paid battle passes now. Ridiculous. Story wise - they cramped three seperate quest lines into one phase. Everything suffered because of it. In the end the only thing that I liked - Gwen's story. It's simple and hard to fuck up.
Orion's story.. Is it even ended? Honestly, I wasn't able to play, but every time I ask my friends about new quests they simply shrug, bc there was no new quests.
The stakes were so high and this.. This is most unsatisfing ending they could give to all of the involved characters. And of course after that someone will blame Cyran for Kazim and Orion situation. But.. I don't buy it. Orion isn't some poor baby. He is heir to the throne, adult and smart enough on his own. I think it's him asking Cyran for help. And as stated in previous seasons, people who serve the court, must follow the orders no matter what. (But it doesn't mean Cyran didn't enjoy this little side project with flesh-binding curse.)
And finally.. Cyran himself. Yes. Yes I am currently obsessing over this mage disaster, so I am biased. You are free to disagree with me on what I will write down.
Is it just me, but he feels off? It's like he was written by different person with different vision for him. Cold, composed character suddenly became such an irrational mess. And last quest with his chambers doesn't really makes this any better. Because now we saw, that he had a plan for Merlin, but for some reason writers decided take a different route for his story.
Note that I usually analyse stuff from writer/director point of view. After all it is them, who makes those choices for character. But that comes with, as I said, biases. My, company and everyone, who interacts with final product.
His mental breakdown looks out of the blue. Mainly because, as I said earlier, lack of time for the build up in this season. For the same reason his monologue about "cleansing the world" Didn't really made sense to me. I mean, he lives and thrives in the same world he wants to destroy. I fail to see his reasons. I would be nice to see or at least hear what happened within story, that made him think that way.
Eryndor's comment about him is.. Obscure. And I don't really know what to make of thar.
(We can build theories of course, speculate over every line of dialogue. But at some point it's going to resemble fnaf lore discussions)
They had potential to such good story with Merlin being out of their element, fighting Cyran on his field. You can disagre with me but Merlin, who actually struggling against someone is far more interesting and entertaining. But it's my personal wishes and partly irrelevant. Either way in the end Merlin appears as op/marry sue who one shots any problem and faces zero consequences.
To end this rant on positive note I will say. It's nice to have more information that we can discuss and build around, not only about characters but about world and magic system within it. God is the witness I am sucker for magic systems and lore.

When the Valen skin came out, plus there was a Merlin costume with a shirt and belts, I made a skin for Cyran, because my soul demanded it, and then I made myself a modern au where Cyran is the corrupt -part-of-syndicate- mayor, and Merlin is a detective in the department investigating the syndicate case (I've already shown these sketches )
