That solid white line is one of the characteristic markings of E. edax

That’s what I thought, too, but I’ve also seen it on E. ravilla so thought it best to include both species. Especially since I didn’t get a location from the person.

I’m not sure I’m going to open submissions/asks back up again. I just don’t have time anymore to ID on a daily or even weekly basis (I’m on vacation this week, so I’ll slowly be playing catch-up). I’m really sorry about that- I wish that I could do this full-time, but it literally doesn’t pay. :)

Nice! Argiope trifasciata, Banded Orb Weaver or Banded Garden Spider.

Can you please tell us what kind of spider this is?

The genus is Agelenopsis, but narrowing down to a species is really tricky with these spiders. Great photo, though!

Southeastern Indiana. In a blackberry patch catching nats

Argiope aurantia. Super common, harmless and great to have around.

I found this spider in my garage and there are webs all over like this but this is the only one occupied….funnel weaver? Hobo? Or just a grass spider?

Funnel weaver and just a grass spider, Agelenopsis spp. Hobo spiders are funnel weavers, as well.

Found in Cape Town. Chap mans Peak.

You were close with your “huntsman” tag- they’re a wall crab spider, also commonly called “flatties”, family Selenopidae. There are two main genera in Cape Town- Anyphops (56 or more species) and Selenops (around 12 species). Totes harmless.

I noticed this palm sized guy running up my curtain and I’m really curious as to what he is!! He looks very similar to a Brown Recluse but I live in SW England?! Thankyou!

There are no populations of Brown Recluse in England. That guy’s a harmless funnel weaver, Eratigena atrica, the Giant House Spider.

Have found three of these today.  One in each bathroom and one in the bedroom..large and fast.  We live on the Oregon coast.  Any help identifying would be appreciated.  I have more photos if needed.  Thank you.

Eratigena atrica- Giant House Spider. Cousin of the most likely harmless (there’s a lot of evidence that they’re harmless) Hobo Spider and harmless, themselves.

Harmless orb weaver- genus Eriophora. Not really sure which species.

Tampa fl in our bathroom

Bit of a long shot, since photo gets blurry when I zoom in, but could possibly be  a male Cithaeron praedonius. Definitely male, though there are no photos on bugguide. Males appear to be darker in the abdomen than females, but this guy could have recently molted.

Again- not super sure at all on this ID, but it was the closest result. Unless I’m overlooking someone obvious. I did check Cheiracanthium and Strotarchus but the legs don’t match up with this guy.

Found this on our extra car seat. Tampa FL Car seat was in the garage then my friends car and in our house. My three and one year were dragging it around the house yesterday until I decided to take it back out to the garage this morning.

Immature widow spider. Going by the hourglass shape and coloration, most likely Brown Widow, Latrodectus geometricus.
