He looks deeply unamused.
I mean didn’t Valryn introduce herself as “Valryn Galerion” did she say Vanus Galerion was her father’s name?
"If she did my mind breezed over it. After all I am in a bit of a crisis here."
Do you think this Vanus and Valryn might be related?
"How would I know that?"
so did you find vanus cute????
His cheeks and ears go pink. "T-that is none of your business!"
Vanus had thought to check up on Valryn to see if she was doing okay. As he was in public, he had decided to don a simple disguise, changing his Arch-Mage's robes into plain robes, his hair from silver to copper (as it has been when he was young), and making his face appear younger. His staff, and most of the rest of his features, remained roughly the same. After briefly checking the Hall of Elements, he went upstairs to the Arcanaeum.

Manni was deeply absorbed in his work, off in a quiet corner, hoping to avoid several people within this college. He was absorbed in his studies in time manipulation and transportation. Almost obsessively. When he looked up be saw a very handsome mer enter that made his mouth fall open and drop his quill.
Vanus glanced around the Arcanaeum, searching, until his eyes fell on Mannimarco, and he froze. The hair was different, yes, and he looked younger, but that was definitely still him. What was he doing here, looking like that? He looked like he had when Vanus had met him.
After a quick glance around, Vanus approached Manni, trying his best to remain nonchalant. He sat across from the other mer, looking him over and trying to shove his feelings down.
"What are you doing here, Manni?" He asked softly, not wanting anyone to overhear them.
He was flustered. His cheeks went pink and his heart hammered in his chest as this handsome older mer approached him. Blasted thing. He hated that feeling. "I... do we know each other?"
Well, that was odd. How did he not know? Vanus's disguise wasn't nearly good enough to warrant this sort of reaction. Which meant... Mannimarco genuinely didn't remember him. That was a problem. Was it a curse? Did he somehow manage to draw another god's ire?
"My apologies, I did not realize you would not remember. Have you been cursed? Did one of the Daedra do this? What do you remember?" Vanus studied Mannimarco intensely, looking for any sort of evidence, magical or otherwise, that would signal contact with Daedra.
"Cursed? Oh no. I was on Artaeum and I suppose one of my spells may have gone awry and I some how was pushed forward in time and well, here in Skyrim."
Well, that was an entirely different situation. Odd, that this would happen while Vanus was away from the Moon. He would need to visit later to check on Mannimarco...
"I see. Then you truly do not know me. You must have tried this spell before we met. What year was it before you arrived in Skyrim?"
"According to what I found out. End of the first era. 2880."
Vanus raised an eyebrow. "Definitely before my time, then. I did not join the Psijic Order until the early second era."
He smiled gently. "I am Vanus Galerion. I am also known as the Great Mage, and founder of the Mages Guild. You and I were... close. No one else was able to match our skill with magic."
"Did the spell I use scramble my mind?" he scratched his head, growing frustrated with his predicament." He then sighed, a moment of vulnerability passing on his otherwise stoic face. "What happened to me?"
"If you mean what happened to get you into this predicament, then I do not know, unfortunately. I was unaware of this before now. If you mean generally... a lot. Regardless, I am more than happy to help you sort this out."
"Are you able to get to Artaeum? Where I am from I mean." he paused. "I f we were close... well, it certainly explains why my heart is beating like this when I generally have no feelings toward others but..." he let out a breath to stop his rambling and try to still his fast beating heart. "It isn't something I like to admit. But your help would be appreciated." he said stiffly.
Vanus smiled. "It's reassuring to know that you have the same reaction to me, regardless of whether you know me or not. I can get you to Artaeum, but I do not think I can send you back to the first era. I do not want to tamper with time more than necessary, especially since we just had a dragon break a few months ago. But perhaps consulting the other Psijics will help."
Manni tensed at the mention of a dragonbreak. "Yes... was it the Mahrukati Selective again?"
"No, thankfully not. They have not been a problem for many centuries. I am not entirely certain what caused it, though I do suspect that Sheogorath was involved."
He sneered. "Oh." though he had no idea why he felt he hated that daedric prince. "I can wait while you go check."

So Manni, I heard you had a run in with Ancano?
( @archmage-valryn )
"He is a nosey fool. I put him in his place."
Now what does that mean?
"It means I told him the meaning of an advisory role, that he doesn't run the place and that I am indeed a Psijic and to go to the Arch Mage to be put in his place."
I would be careful, Manni, the Thalmor are hunting the Psijics… they’re trying to invade Artaeum.
He laughed. "I wish them luck. More than half of the Psijic's there are equally or twice as strong as me. And eventually, I will be the strongest."
Manni… I don’t think you understand the danger they pose, their numbers, they have control over all of the Summerset Isles, the Psijics were forced to flee, to the Island off of Nirn into a demiplane…
"Then they really can not get to us now."
I can’t keep doing this, lying to you… do you know what year it is?
He sighed. "I figured it out three days after I got here, Which means, not only did I move places with my spell, but forward in time."
[she takes his hands into hers] I don’t know if you can go back, even if you can, you need to learn more about the world as it is, it’s been three eras, the world is not the same, the psijics are not the same.
"You under estimate my mind. I will figure it out." he gave a smirk.
I’m not underestimating you, I’m asking you to consider the other possibilities. The possibility that you will not make it home.
Manipulation of time especially at such a scale is dangerous, please just hear me out.
"I suppose we will see then, won't we. I have never been one to pass up a challenge. Now, let's keep this to ourselves. That thalmor fool does not need to know I posses the capability to go forward in time and possibly back."
Manni… you need help, you’re smart enough to know that, let me help you.
[she doesn’t wait for an answer, she simply begins looking through his notes, pointing out a handful of problems in them concerning stability and accuracy]
"Don't!" he collected his notes. "I have a system!" he hissed.
You’re using the wrong word for stabilizing the portal… and daedric for “time” that’s too vague…
"I just started that section of my work! Do you really think I am that much of a dullard that I wouldn't know that? Like I said. I have a system!"
The aurbic word would work better for that

[the sound she maked comes out as a strange buzzing-humming noise that strangely feels like a word, and a universal truth]
It would allow you to more easily break through to the time stream.
You’ll need multiple points of stabilization… hmm daedric sigil stones would work?
"What part of 'I have a system' are you not understanding! I make several iterations of my notes. I separate my studies out into sections. This is the first iteration of that section of notes. And if I need help I approach people as a last resort! I am capable of study, cross referencing and identifying what I need and what I don't. I do not go to a colleague for a couple more iterations of each section of my notes!" he ranted as he collected his things and stood.
There’s nothing wrong with asking a colleague for help, if anything it’s beneficial, it expedites the process. And prevents you from making unnecessary mistakes.
Besides can you honestly tell me you knew the aurbic word for time, it’s very rare information? Using that word will allow you to bend the fabric of reality…
"I never said there was! The difference is you forced your help on me and put my notes out of order!"
I put them back in the same exact order.
"If I needed help I would ask for it!" he finished gathering his things and started to leave, clearly angry.
[She pauses, realizing her mistake] Wait… please. I am sorry… I did not… [she swallows]
I am treating you like a student… in need of guiding… I- you remind me of my brother… I fear I am letting my emotions cloud my judgement. I apologize.
He stopped in the stair well and turned back, clutching his things in his arms. "I need time to myself. Let me have that at the least."
Very well. I am sorry, truly. It was not my intention to cause harm.
"Thank you. I will talk when my mind is in a better place." he then left.

The aurbic word would work better for that
e̶̸̷̡̛̮̰̪̝̻̘͖̤̭͎̳̺̍̽ͧ͑̌̂ͩ̑͛͘͟͞͠r̴̾͟e͘͞y̢̨̡̗̳̫̤̪͙͉͈̥̩̫͇̏̾ͯͨ͊̅ͤ́̑̀͊͗͒̕͟e͈̘̜̣̱̥͓ͪ̒ͫͣ̇͡s̶̡͙̟̳̻͇̮̥͉̗̤̳̿̉̏̋̌͊͂̒ͣͭ̏̂̑̎́ͬͧ͐̈̄̓͂̍̕̕͜͢͡t̴̴̡̛̰͍̬̩͈̤̟̮͓̦͂͒̓͒ͬͪͥ̽ͣͫ͗͢e̷̵̷̴̢̨̨̮͔͈͍̬̯͕͛͒͒̄ͤͤ͌́̉̑̇ͩͨ́ͦ́̀̇̆̒͘̚͡͡ͅrda̢͈̠̹͇̮̱̣̗̟͛ͪ̄ͨ̍̑̃y̷͕̝ͪ͗̋
