The Watcher and the Rain || Solo
All rain will drown your clothes if you stand in it long enough. People say that it is that fine rain that gets deep into your clothes, clings to your skin in the matter of seconds that gets to dripping wet, but Evan Rosier knew different. He had spent many nights waiting outside in the cold, debating with himself whether or not it was a good idea to run up those couple of steps and knock on the door of Emma Vanity. Ever since he had found out about the unborn child he had been reluctant to visit Emma in fear of someone finding out that they were still in contact.
It was a fear that he had for a reason; there were always bodies moving in and out of Vanity’s place, entering hurt and dying, before coming out heeled a whole. Just like Evan had done that time, only now he wasn’t hurt but refused to leave. But what was the point in hanging around? It wasn’t as if he and Emma had much of a future. No doubt Evan would die for his trickery, his slap in the Dark Lord’s face for going behind his back to a blood traitor. But he loved Emma, he always had. Those feeling weren’t going to vanish in a night.
The rain continued to fall in heavy droplets, splashing against Evan nose that stuck out from under his soaked cloak. Boone was waiting at home, curled up on the couch waiting for his master to return with a meaty stick for the creature to eat and enjoy. Unfortunately, Evan had no stick nor was he planning on going home to his dark, empty flat any time soon.
Crack.
Evan’s heart dropped in his chest at the sound of someone apparating close by. He body sunk back into the shadows of the hedges that lined one side of the street. He could just about hear footsteps over the wind whirling around him as they slapped the wet pavement.
A hooded figure crossed the road, hunched over in pain. Evan could make out a hand clutching at the figures arm which seemed to be twisted out at and odd angle. The figure continued up the steps that lead up to Emma’s front door and a white hand stuck out to knock against the painted wood. A couple of seconds slipped by before a lined of light shot over the road and a second figure appeared. This one was a lot shorter than the first and her hair was wildly pulled up on top of her head. Her abdomen, Evan noticed, jutted out to form a high bump.
Relief washed over Rosier at seeing Emma’s healthy glow through the rain. She was okay, her and the baby were fine. Evan need not worry about them for another night. He found himself smiling across at her, his feet stepping out from under the protection of the dark hedges as if he wished for Emma to know he was there. But soon the first figure was being beckoned in and the large, charm protected front door was being closed, leaving Evan alone in the rain once more.
I think I need to stop hanging around Em's street... This wall is freezing my arse off, the neighbours cat is getting too friendly and Em can look after herself, pregnant or not.
I should leave.
Weekends...
And here was me thinking that we didn’t need an excuse for either of those things…
We don't really but having an excuse now and then is useful if someone is trying to make you do something else.
Weekends...
Excuse for sleeping and drinking.
I should have just gone into banking.

Rolling her eyes, she said nothing. She did have people who cared about her and she would tell them if she needed to. But, she tended to handle things on her own but Rosier was not worth explaining that to. She was going to try to ignore his insults. He wasn’t worth it, in the least and that was her opinion.
She crossed her arms, rolling her eyes. “If you think I have a problem standing up to you, you have something coming to you. I don’t follow the stupid pureblood women don’t speak out of turn thing and I’m hardly afraid of you. I was chosen by him from a young age, can you say the same thing? If anyone’s worthless, it’s you.”
She bit her tongue hard at the way he referred to her. ”Stop calling me a fucking animal. Do you know what an animal is? A worthless fucking thing like Emma fucking Vaniity and you may have ran and cried like the coward you are, when she decided to fuck me because you couldn’t do it, but she’s fucking filth and he still wants her dead and you know what? I’ll gladly watch. In fact, I’ll make sure he finds her because whether or not you’re done with her or not, you’re pathetic and unworthy with the fact that you were willing to even lay with that. At least I knew it was gross. She’s pretty much the dirtiest slag there is and everyone fucking knows it. You act like I’m gross but I have fucked two, yes two guys, willingly in my life and that disgusting thing. She’s done far worse. Tell me, do you call her an animal. She’s the one that instigated with it. In fact, I’ll make sure he finds her now if you don’t shut up. Say one more rude thing and I’ll crucio you right here. I’m not scared of you or her fucking connections or your disease ridden ex. Learn whose presence you’re in and learn who the significant other in my life is because you cross him, you’ll die. And that is not a fucking bluff.”
Evan tasted blood.
He was never one to raise a hand to a women, he'd never willingly go out of his way to hurt them, punish them for something. It had been the one good thing he'd gotten from his upbringing, from his loving mother who'd been ripped from him far too young. Despite all that, Evan couldn't help the shake that ran through his body at Carrow's words. How vile and twisted an individual could become all due to an inflated ego thinking that she could come to no harm. His hand had curled around his wand ages ago, wanted to strike out and jam itself deep into Carrow's throat, severing her carotid artery and just watch her bleed out on the floor.
Long time ago Evan knew he couldn't help who he'd fall in love with. No one had control over that, hence why Carrow had fallen for nothing more than a puppet, a play toy of the Dark Lords. He'd been bred for nothing but the Dark Lord's pleasure and Carlisle was nothing to fear because Evan had nothing to lose, not really. Sure, he was going to be a father but what sort of father could he be knowing that he'd never be there? Never get the chance to actually say that he was a father.
"You honestly think you're something special?" Evan hissed back, his wand slipping free from his pocket to point in Alecto's direction under the table. "You think something like Carlisle could ever care for some twisted old bat like yourself? You're delusional, Carrow, you always have been. Just look at you. Threatening someone, acting as if you were someone special just because you were picked out at birth. My father is one of his originals, I was brought into this world to continue what my father has done. Don't preach to me about being fucking special." His voice was low in fear of drawing attention from those around them.
"As for Emma," he pressed on, his head shaking from side to side. "Just because she didn't bow down and blow him doesn't mean her life deserves to end. She wasn't manipulated from birth, she had choice unlike the rest of us and if you were any human being you'd see that not every pureblood needs to have a mark on their arm, not everyone has to fight." His wand jutted out further. "I never cared how many dicks had been with her because it's not the number who makes the woman, Carrow, so no matter how many pricks you've had, she's still more than a woman than you'd ever be."
Evan kicked back his chair causing it to topple back into the table behind. His wand slipped back into his robes but Evan kept a strong hand around it. "Now, I've got a job to do. Without you."

She rolled her eyes at his words. “Oh believe me,. I could. Don’t underestimate me and if I didn’t, I know people who could and there’s no argument about that, in the least.” She basically hated Evan because he refused to see any fault but hers in what had happened. But she didn’t care about him enough at the end of the day to hate him.
"The thing is is going to bash you in the head if you call her a thing again, or hit you with a cruciatus curse so hard that you’ll wish you could go find your worthless blood traitor slag to make it better." She rolled her eyes. "That’s it. Keep fucking talking."
She rolled her eyes again, downing a drink. “Yeah I know that. So, let’s get to it. I can’t handle being in your presence much longer, that’s for sure.”
"Getting others to do your dirty work," Evan muttered, lifting his glass to his lips for a refreshing wave of whiskey to burn its way down his throat.
Evan, deciding to lead because Carrow was clearly far to wild and deranged to do so, stepped out towards an empty table that was within earshot but not directly on top of a little knot of wizards chatting away. A smile graced his lips at the smell of freshly baked bread and pumpkin soup; it reminded him fondly of Hogwarts and the winter feasts. "Now, now... Temper, temper. You can't go about cursing people, especially me, around here. You'll get yourself beheaded," he commented as he sat himself down on a stool.
"You know, I never understand why such creatures even try to bother with human interaction," Evan continued, ignoring Alecto's threat if he didn't shut his mouth up. "I'd have thought you and the other pup would have run off to live in the hills a long time ago. Eating children along the way."

"I am well aware that is what it is. A lot of people don’t realize that. Carlisle doesn’t see it, neither does my brother. Without going into specifics that I am not willing to share and that you don’t want to hear, he went to our parents at a young age and made sure measures were taken to prepare us for this life. He only does what is in his own best interest." She shrugged then. "I’m just saying, I guess that’s one thing we do see eye to eye in, is not being blind to the manipulation that he performs to get what he wants."
She then sighed and decided to stop speaking, because no one needed to know that she wasn’t 100% behind all of it all the time anyway and she followed him and then rolled her eyes at his words. ”Oh please, never mistake any emotion I have for concern. I just don’t want to have to be one of the ones to carry your dead body out. Your blood on my hands would only be worth it if I was the one to kill you.”
She rolled her eyes. “Well maybe if you did similar things, you would learn to get the giant stick out of your arse that has been there for years now.” She then followed him, knowing they had to focus.
For someone who had willingly stepped into bed with Evan's girlfriend, Alecto didn't have much reason to hate Evan. He thought it was mainly out of principle for the fact he hated every disgusting thing about the woman. In fact, she wasn't enough deserving of being named a woman; Carrow was an animal, it's behaviour so far from any human being. Maybe the Forbidden Forrest was a better suited place for such a beast. "As if you could ever kill me," he muttered, not caring if she heard as he walked off towards the bar.
"Firewhiskey and whatever that thing wants," he ordered, nodding towards the thing behind him. Evan recognised the tender as Chatlove, her face rounder than when he'd known her at school. Switching his attention to the thing, Evan replied, "I quite like behaving as any... normal pureblooded male would behave, thanks. Just because my upbringing was more suited to this time there's no need to show your jealousy, Carrow."
Evan turned back to the bar, handling his recently poured whiskey and laying out some money on the bar. "Now, we need to sit somewhere where we're in earshot of any important information. The sooner we find something, the quicker you can go off chasing rabbits."
Said Slytherin, “We’ll teach just those whose ancestry’s purest.”

“I guess so. It doesn’t always work that way, you know. Sometimes people may turn out a different way but when you have someone like the Dark Lord, he has ways of controlling the way things happen to make sure that people turn out a certain way. It’s not always as easy as it seems.” She didn’t know what she was saying or why she was talking, but sometimes words did come out without her, wanting them to.
“You think so? I mean, he hates me but who doesn’t? People need to learn to be less annoyed when I torture their pathetic filth love in front of them. It’s not like I killed her.” She still found the whole thing rather amusing, but she knew that Rosier was likely right. “You probably are right though. If anyone is at the center, it’s going to be him. He tends to want people to flock around him and the sick thing is people do. My money is on most of the pathetic Gryffindors.”
“Whatever you say.” She nodded, knowing he was right. Ophelia was her best friend but she never should have run. It had ultimately led to her death. “I know that. If he hadn’t wanted what he wanted, then Amycus would have been killed, as would I when I didn’t let him do so.” Her ears perked up at his words. She wasn’t about to point out that she often felt the same way.
“I have noticed that and although she was still new to it all, she wasn’t horrible. Just make sure your occlumency is up to speed or it will lead to problems. Fuck, I am going soft or something. We need to figure this out so I can go burn the innocent or something.”
Evan grunted, wiping his forehead with the back of his hand. "It's manipulation," he replied. "He twists things until you comply. Look at my mother. She's dead thanks to the hold he had on my father and they had been at school with one another. Situations change."
Deciding to not question Carrow sanity at that moment in time, Evan didn't question why her and her fuck buddy thought it wise to torture whilst in Hogwarts. Had Dumbledore really been that blind? He doubted it, but why let it slide? Clearly Hogwarts hadn't been the safe haven everyone had ranted on about if it educated psychotic inbred individuals.
Making a move for the Cauldron entrance, Evan push opened the door and paused, looking back to Alecto. "I'm prepared but thanks for the concern," there was a clear smirk marking his face. "Also, I'd rather not hear about what you classify as fun." With that, Evan stepped into the warmly lit local that was abuzz with chatter.
