" King of the Demon Children "
: NEW TO BLOG : | Another leader of the Promised Land who I haven't really done much or, I have been slowly trying to piece things together while I do these OC ref sheets. Another not new to me OC new to here, and also who will be added to my Living the Dream island some other time.
Notice: I have loads of OCs but there are also sub categories; Like OCs with "Important roles" and "side OCs" which are not entirely my "Main OCs" but still very much matter to the worlds I've created with them; This is in association with the Promised Land and the Frostclaw.
| A king who leads a small settlement of individuals who idolize and worship the sun and basks in all its light and glory, the tribe is referred to as the " Demon Children of the Sun " and are very close allies with Kira and his legion of Deceit.
The tribe, just like other tribes and civilizations, they too have many names such as; The "Demon Children", "Children of the Sun", "Fires of Solaris", it's not entirely clear who these ones are; But some believe that they derived from the flares of the sun and took a more humanoid form to appear more "appealing" to those more on the mortal side, whether that being true or not is uncertain, as they seemingly used their potential to bring fear and ruin to the hearts of many on the behalf of the goods Kira bribes and persuades them with. Haruun is no exception to these deals, as he is a selfish and greedy individual himself.
The Children of the Sun never were on good terms with the Golden Palace and it's inhabitants, as well as their allies, even before Kira's reign they were always envious by the riches of the People of Gold; Haruun's grandfather and great grandfather had this same envy, however had mostly steered clear from the rest of the Promised Land to not let this greed and anger get to them, Haruun on the other hand decided to take measures into his own hands and take it a step further, took the chance when a man with great yet vile ambitions risen from the shadows to rule the lands, having such a terrifying individual on his side sounds delightful indeed. Even when Gwendyll, the Silver Queen, he did not get along with when they were on the same side, as Haruun prefers all the delights and recognition for himself.
The blood of the Demon Children burns bright and is even hot to the touch for those who are not from their origins; Their blood may not be as hot as lava or the sun itself, but it can still burn very harshly upon touch
They are not compatible when it comes to breeding and having offspring with other races, and to prevent inbreeding within their own is quite difficult to keep up with also, so in order to not cause too much confusion, some families have different ear piercings and different cloths or markings to differentiate between them so they can tell between each families; There is roughly 4 or 5 different family ranks, Haruun is just born in one of the more wealthier families who always ends up becoming chiefs to the tribe
Even though it's rare for any outsiders of the tribe to ever notice, when a member of the Fires of Solaris tribe were to ever decease, they would burn in a bright light and immediately return from the flares they had once formed, assuming returning to the very sun they were birthed from; Hence why you can never retrieve their body or prove of their existence after their time in the world of living, of course the people will always inscribe tales of their adventures and of their bravery
Their appearance that they chose for mortal eyes definitely appears more ape form or "neanderthal" like compared to their actual intelligence; As in they are not on the same levels as Kira's cunningness or Gwendyll's knowledge on technology, but that they are able to properly AND efficiently execute plans they go over again and again in one night. Having the Demon Children alongside Kira, it was how they were able to kidnap Prince quite a few times for an almost successful light magic extraction process, for Kira's long lasting plan for complete worlds and worlds beyond takeover
The signature jewellery they wear is of golds and the gems are rubies that can only be found within their tribal settlements and whereabouts can be located; The rubies are very rare and definitely desired by almost the whole of the Promised Land, however to get there and be able to set up a mining facility in the Sunburst Canyons without being ambushed by the Demon Children is the biggest challenge which not many have succeeded in doing so; Those who have managed to get their hands on those rubies or even the mere scraps of, sell them at ridiculously high prices that only those wealthy enough can buy
The Demon Children, as stated previously, live in the canyons that acts as a form of entryway from the swamplands where most Earth Elves reside, to the mass desert where a flourishing palace of Desert Dwellers live; Haruun's tribe has always either harassed and tormented the Earth Elves and the Desert Dwellers, even sometimes hosting "hunting seasons" where they steal the riches, or even kill them for food sources, fortunately the Desert Dweller civilization is a LOT more prepared to fend off most ambushes or hostile Demon Children than they like to let on, the Earthen Elves however, tend to hide, flee or turn to stronger forces to hopefully find a safe haven until the bloodgened festival is over, it's practically a purge for them
Despite willingly working alongside Kira, the Demon Children are still a very secluded lot, they only work for or with those who can benefit them in any way, again as mentioned, with riches, food or overall a lot of fortune; A few of Haruun's people have worryingly speculated that Kira would betray them when they no longer deem "useful" to the tyrant, but Haruun himself firmly believes that he and his people will be able to bail last minute with their said benefits to escape someplace more "befitting" for a "reliable and faithful chief", his words alone
Chieftains of the tribe are to only be of males, having female or non-binary presenting individuals is considered an "inexcusably pathetic" choice as the reasoning behind this statement, is they are deemed unfit to lead, using their "feelings" and "hormones" to dictate their choices that are not logical, despite Haruun being the walking, talking hypocrisy in that very statement
The Demon Children are most certainly the carnivorous kind, hence why they have chosen to include all elemental Elven tribes into their diet, with the exceptions of Sky Elves as they are difficult to get to, the Nocturnal Elves since their main "ally", Kira is one himself, and also they do not taste that nutritious either, or the Ice Elves as the original Frost Folk were almost a delicacy compared to their modern kin who just taste bitter. They are also not afraid to incorporate other races into their diets as well, examples such as; Desert Dwellers for their tails and rump which specifically can be made into sausages and steak, Merchants as their organs are rather tender and flavourful sizzled with spices, Aqua Guardians for their fins and eyes as selling them as food items in blackmarkets is a fortune waiting to happen, and the parts are juicy with flavours of the sea and saltiness, and even Vermin children are a rich man's dinner potential since the void they are born from surprisingly tastes like food of the gods without any flavour enhancers or food additions, however is very rare and difficult to obtain as the Vermin Kind are not only overly protective of their young, but are also very strong in their defence of their civilization as well
The Demon Children don't take kindly to those who try to show them up, especially when it comes to Haruun's association with the Legion of Deceit; He was already miffed when the fabled Bounty Hunter ended up being a female Nocturnal Elf under mind control of sorts who is actually very reliable and competent with her job, but when he found the humour in when she makes claims and makes nonchalant jabs and remarks at Seer, it does very much make him laugh. The Demon Children tribe have actually somewhat grown fond of her expertise, but it is just for personal entertainment purposes, and that's it. On the subject of Seer, if that measly Desert Dweller wasn't a complete pleaser for Kira's ego, his people would be having that fortune teller as a feast, Haruun just knows if he DID manage to kill Seer now, Kira would wipe out his entire tribe and bloodline, maybe even the sun itself
The Demon Children of the Sun are not saints, they refuse to do anything that aids others besides themselves, the fact that Haruun does not care for Kira's lifelong plan and how it can potentially ruin his legacy and his people do not ever come across as troublesome to him most of the time; His one and only goal is to find any form of "enrichment" from all that they have contributed, and he will not let anybody stand in the way of his "fortune and riches", he is very greedy and is willing to do anything to satisfy his everlasting hunger for anything he can get his hands on.
He was and is always envious of how much power and influence the People of Gold have over the rest of the Promised Land, he always dreams to have that sort of benefits for his own, but knowing he's under Kira temporary rule makes him realize in those moments sometimes that what he wants, the tyrant will actually have instead if the plan does in fact manage to come to fruition, maybe he'll see if he can dual or kill Kira for his position last minute, if they win against that "dictating Aurelius" as some like to refer to the Golden King as. He doesn't care for the other temporary allies, he surely does not give a damn about the fabled Bounty Hunter, unless they are to make jabs at the weasly Seer, nor does he care for the Seer's private ramblings about some measly "God of Mayhem", because hearing the cunning fortune teller mumble about it so much just makes Haruun want to shut him up, as long as he gets a LOT out of this in the end without himself or his people being used as bait or sacrifices, that's all that matters to him. In a way he's a fool and greed blinds him of the potential threats to the Promised Land.
Haruun is not really a character I have put much thought or purpose behind until this point on, in fact originally I wasn't actually going to do much for any of the leaders of chiefs that reside within each region of the Promised Land as I never had all that much to go by when I first started getting into all this, all this was mostly going to be about was focusing on the Frostclaw (since all my former fan characters from this are practically from this tribe alone) and even on Caligo, Asim and Karmen.. But since pretty much making my way around trying to make this project feel more lively and such it's been adapted further and I ended up making more OCs for this, may even make a few more since I have loads already who contribute well to most aspects of the "story", but there's also more parts that would work as well if I incorporated it into them.
I have other ref sheets from the other leaders that I just need to update and or completely do an overhaul of, but in the meantime this will probably sit in my drafts for a while until I finally have enough of my OCs that have complete ref sheets and bios, but until then I'll mention:
I did in fact make a design for Haruun in the past which was of a height chart of all leaders, although some of the heights and basic character personalities has somewhat completely or partially changed since then, but with the new one that's seen at the top is only a slightly updated version of this older one below.
Overall it does feel like I already had a set design for him and his tribe as is, and that it just needed to be tweaked in some areas, the only thing he never really had was a basic personality to his character; Although I do vaguely remember thinking of making him and his people as former enemies to the Golden Palace, but I already have the Silver Beings fitting that status when they get to that development, it wouldn't balance well in my opinion if I did made almost all allies of Kira's ranks to be his ex-allies.. Besides, making the Demon Children tribe on the same side as the tyrant fits their characters a lot more, Haruun wouldn't settle sticking by Aurelius's side even if it meant life or death, he despises the Golden Palace with a fiery passion for their wealth.
Honestly a lot of these leaders never really change much design-wise, I believe I just slightly better at drawing their physique and signature attires that make them unique to each other, it's practically a staple to have some form of face covering or mask within the Promised Land it seems as well, seeing as most, if not all races, beings and such have at least some part or their whole face covered by cloth, woods or other suitable mask-like materials. Quite frankly, I am proud of the art, the purpose of the OC and this guy in general.
Now here's hoping I get on with updating the ref of their refs that I have almost finished with along with finishing up or working on new ref sheets for existing OCs.
