Celebrate Thanksgiving Monday with Magic Monday. November 25th at O'Rourke's Office. showtimes: 7:00 and 8:30 p.m.
Timeless Magic is a highly visual magic show that appeals to a multi-generational audience. The show features sleight-of-hand, audience participation, and highly deceptive but rarely seen 19th century magic effects that are sure to delight young and old. @acorntheater #mastersonmagic
Experience close-up magic next Monday, November 25th at O'Rourke's Office. showtimes: 7:00 and 8:00 p.m. Pictured in photo is the audience of the long running "Frunchroom" reading series which originated at O'Rourke's. A cozy venue perfect for close-up magic.
"Sean Masterson believes some magic is timeless. Whether it’s using sleight of hand with a deck of cards or doing a classic escape, there’s still something, well, quite magical about the art itself, which is what the Chicago-based magician hopes to prove in his latest show, “Timeless Magic.”" Herald-Palladium News Performing at the Acorn 11/30 at 2:00 p.m.
“Thurston stepped off the stage with the ball floating between the palms of his hands, ... The ball left him, traveled over the heads of the audience and the orchestra pit, slowly gaining altitude and speed until it swept passed the gaping spectators…” Howard Thurston show circa 1920
Next Monday is Magic Monday at O'Rourke's Office in Beverly. David Gruba and Sean amuse and amaze with sleight-of-hand card magic and confounding mysteries with coins, dice and borrowed watches. Audience participation is key and everyone is part of the show. Go to brownpapertickets for info and to reserve.
What to do with out of town Thanksgiving guests? Come to see Magic at The Acorn a decade long tradition. “Prestidigitation for the Harry Potter generation, with a minimum of flash and a maximum of understated showmanship...” The Chicago Tribune.
What do magicians do on their day off? Why fly to New Jersey to visit the Wonder Show Museum, of course. Rory Feldman has amassed one of the greatest collections of magic in the world. He brings the sleeping memorabilia to life with his passion and rapid fire delivery cutting himself off in order to reveal yet another eye-popping one-of-a-kind artifact that has miraculously survived a century and wound up in Rory’s marvelous collection. The photo here depicts my surprise (at 1:00 a.m. ET) to learn that the Thurston candy box is the only one of 100,000 to still exist.
Start Thanksgiving a wee bit early with Magic Monday — November 25th at O'Rourke's Office 11064 S Western Ave, Chicago. Showtimes 7:00 & 8:30 p.m. The event space will be transformed into a close-up theater. Get details at brownpapertickets.com
