Camp Cretaceous Beast Wars Prompt - Ben Pincus and Blackarachnia
Finally, the last of the campers and their⌠Predacon companion?
Alright, hear me out about why Ben and Blackarachnia actually work as a duo. Many would expect Rhinox or Silverbolt to be better candidates given how the other campers are partners with a Maximal. However, both Ben and Blackarachnia seem to be the opposites of their respective teams that were quick to change when faced with an unfamiliar environment.
So letâs get into the why and how!
In an alternate chain of events, Ben wasnât knocked off the train by the Pterosaur flock on the sky tram. Instead, Terrorsaur was in the flock to stalk and capture the campers. However, Ben was in the wrong place at the wrong time and he was caught and brought to the Darksyde.
During his capture, Ben was put into a holding chamber guarded by the newly created Blackarachnia, who would taunt Ben and threaten him whenever she wanted.
It got boring really fast.
She wanted to do something fun, or at the very least, something interesting to her. She took him out of the chamber and secretly brought him out to the jungle to hunt him down while in her beast mode.
During the chase, Ben found Bumpy and hid with her while Blackarachnia kept hunting him. At some point, Toro appeared and started to hunt Blackarachnia. In an effort of survival, she tried hiding as well but Toro had managed to get some of her legs.
Wounded and defeated, she was almost brought offline had it not been for a moment of courage by Ben somehow finding the strength to throw rocks at the Carnotaurus to draw it away.
Both the human and Predacon were now miles away from the Darksyde. Ben couldâve left her then and there, all the problems could be over but something told him to stay and help the wounded Predacon. Now with Bumpy at his side and lost in a jungle full of Dinosaurs, the odd trio stuck together, much to Blackarachniaâs dismay.
Blackarachnia learns very quickly that humans are very vulnerable and weak. In this case, Ben is a very vulnerable, weak and germaphobic human that thinks something is going to reach out and eat him every five minutes. She found it to be very, VERY annoying whenever he leapt up to her before dropping him.
She also found Bumpy to be annoying with their squeaky noises and cutesy behavior. She was a Predacon and a killer, not a babysitter.
In order to keep Ben from looking like he was about to pass out from the smallest sound, she decided it was better to show him how to defend himself. Not as a Maximal ally, but as a future (hopefully) Predacon.
Over a few weeks, Ben toughens up but not in the way a Predacon does, but as someone whose survival means hope to someone else. In this case, itâs both Bumpy and Blackarachnia. The latter doesnât understand why he would care about her, they should be mortal enemies. Instead, heâs helping her.
Eventually, Blackarachnia (once sheâs fully healed) leaves back to the Darksyde and she isnât surprised no one has really missed her. For some reason, it hurts.
During various battles with the Maximals and Campers, Blackarachnia avoids conflict with Ben after their first interaction. These are not out of pity, rather, it is because he was the first true being that helped with healing her and sticking with her to survive in an unforgiving jungle.
Ben sees Blackarachnia as someone trapped in a bad situation and thinks she is a good person after being with her in the jungle. During their time together, she wasnât much of a talker but did at least find food for him to eat so she could rely on him to help heal her and get her back to the Darksyde. He had a cousin who was in a bad relationship with someone, and sees the same with her.
Whenever itâs late or heâs alone, he sits at the edge of the jungle clearing with Bumpy with a plate of Energon cubes he secretly sneaks from the Axalon and sets them in front of the trees. A black and yellow claw carefully picks them a few at a time, this is their weekly interaction until someone decides to actually make some kind of conversation.
The Maximals and other Campers eventually learn about this and try to keep him from getting hurt or worst.
On the opposite side, Blackarachnia is chastised for her interactions with the Maximal ally. Megatron, on the other hand, believes it is an opportunity to put a spy in the Axalon.
While the plan goes flawless at first, Ben confronts her when he sees her planting equipment in secrecy. A confrontation leads to Ben trying to convince her to join the Maximals, she denies the request and escapes.
Long story short, Ben is completely flabbergasted how quick Blackarachnia now wants to change sides when he sees it. She is completely smitten by Silverbolt. He REVELS in the truth and uses it to tease her.
Itâs obvious she is obsessed with Silverbolt.
Itâs from this point, itâs obvious they now are exploring a sibling-like relationship where Blackarachnia is the okder sister and Ben is the younger brother and somewhere in between, Bumpy is the massive scaly tank puppy they share and sometimes, Ben likes to tease her about Silverbolt.
With Benâs newfound ruggedness and cynical nature after living in the jungle, she now has to keep him from getting himself killed when he rushes headfirst into danger.
Near the end of the Beast Wars, the two have to rely on each other to help bring an end to something that has nearly destroyed the island and its dinosaurs.
Every close call and near-death experience has Blackarachnia still trying to keep Ben from dying the worst kind of deaths while he jumps headfirst into them.
When the kids are finally returned to the mainland, Blackarachnia says goodbye to Ben⌠And the waterworks with awkward hugging and ugly crying faces begin.
Definitely one of the weirdest goodbyes both the Maximals and Campers have seen but no one wants to break it up. Itâs both sweet and funny.
Between visiting Bumpy and going to school, Ben has a little extra time to video chat with Blackarachnia with a special machine that can reach Cybertron.
He takes time to speak with her about his life and learn from her what she is doing with Silverbolt and their relationship, being 100% supportive and promising to find a way to visit someday.
And that is the last camper and their Maximal (and Predacon) partner. Next time will be the Campers and their least favorite Predacon.
