        To say that her interactions with the man charged with guarding her life are interesting would be a vast understatement. He’s unlike anyone she’s ever encountered before; while Maria is no stranger to the stuffiness of polite society and the propriety that is so often shown to royals, he has a certain degree of aloofness that surpasses even the most proper of courtiers.
