you know that rollercoaster tycoon post about someone (paraphrased) “sending rollercoaster crashes flying into rival parks to lower their rating” that got a lot of initial attention despite being obviously flagrant bullshit to anyone with a working memory of rollercoaster tycoon so nowadays you mostly see the corrected version going around.

every week i see neopets equivalents of that post going around and only 30% of the time does it have any correction.

and for the record, i don't think them making user shops look completely visually incongruent from neopian shops was, like, an anti-scamming manuever or anything, least of all because out of all shop scams out there, "tricking the user into thinking they're not on a user shop" is practically nonexistent, and moreso because the new user shop layout removed link preview on item hovers, which is a way bigger safety concern. regardless, i think they just up and forgot they already had a more adaptive shop template that could have been used as a baseline and started rewriting it from scratch instead.

i'm REALLY not normally bothered by UI changes, i really try to not be that guy. but it kind of drives me bonkers that the user shop UI looks nothing like neopian shop UIs now. they used to match each other pretty decently, and the current neopian shop UI is mobile friendly anyway. why. still, i do appreciate them giving us as much information/examples about how to do custom work on the new layout as possible. many would not even do that anymore, especially since a lot of buyers tend to actively hate highly custom shop layouts these days.
