“Never! Promise! I’m sure it can’t be that hard if we just - why did I let go? Help!”
“Oh my god. Are you okay?”
lowell-iversen:
“No one has a background in politics until they, you know, go into politics. C’mon, you’ve got that perfect grin and you’re actually a nice person. Plus you have good hair. No one votes for anyone with bad hair, it’s a fact. Says who? It’s just a museum. Anyone can work there.”
“That’s not even true. I have a degree that allows me to work there. The hiring process was very rigorous. Not just anybody can work there.”
lowell-iversen:
“Then like, get a new job. Or better hours. Hey, you know where you’d be great? City council. You’ve got politician written all over you. I’d vote for you, if I was allowed to.”
“What? You’re crazy, Lowe. I have no background in politics. And I’m supposed to work at the museum.”
xanthevandevelde:
“I’ll only go if you come. I’m - a little afraid to go all by myself. It’s not that I’m afraid I’ll get hurt, I just - it’s better not to be alone, right? When you’re trying new things? It’s better to have friends.”
“Okay, but don’t judge me if I’m holding onto the side too.”
xanthevandevelde:
“That’s so sweet of you to say! Still, I guess I’d better give it a try. As long as I don’t let go of the side, it can’t be that bad, right?”
“I’m sure you’ll do fine.”
lowell-iversen:
“Well, you should really see her more often then. If you’re not kissing her that often, no wonder she wants to be kissed by me under the mistletoe. Really, it’s your fault.”
“It’s not like I don’t want to see her. I just- it’s our work schedules.”
xanthevandevelde:
“I know! What if I accidentally kicked someone in the throat? Or on purpose, though that would be much less likely. Still, it’s a possibility that I shouldn’t rule out.”
“I’m sure the jury would find reasons to doubt.”
lowell-iversen:
“But what if she wants to be kissed under the mistletoe? It would be rude not to. Don’t make me be rude, Matt.”
“That’s my job. And I hardly ever get to see her, so I’m kind of jealous about it.”
xanthevandevelde:
“Oh! I don’t even know how to skate! Though it looks so pretty, I really would like to try it. I’m just not so sure about strapping blades to my feet. I’m not usually allowed blades that sharp in public places!”
“It sounds really dangerous when you put it like that.”
lowell-iversen:
“Damn. Maybe I should steal Em’s too. Wait, that means Em has super soft lips. Maybe I should put up some mistletoe around her.”
“Please don’t kiss my girlfriend.”
spencer-dodier:
“Bro. Yes. Please. It’s my first Christmas that I’m not going home so my already bad wrapping job has to hold up to the fuckin’ mail and everything.”
“That sucks, man. About not being home for the holiday.”
m-barcilon:
“No… to myself mostly.”
“My bad.”

It was out of the ordinary for her to be doing something like this. Not that everything wasn’t out of the ordinary in Nightvale to begin with. It was the fact that she was openly acknowledging in this festivities, much less partaking in them, that was different for her. With few friends and no family anywhere close to her here, she’d just work through the holidays these past few years.
Now here she was, walking to a vaguely omniscient train… Had the train been here before? Was there a train stop in nightvale? Ever? She couldn’t remember, but then again, most things to go ignored and unnoticed with her. A city council member grabbed her by the arm, pulling her forward, but not in a agressive way how a principal would to their office after a fight, but in more of an encouraging way, how your father figure would lead you down the isle, or how they’d help you walk out of a hospital after surgery. Lifting. Leading. Almost kind, but mostly neutral… Why does she know what that feels like?
Before she could think more, a particularly loud, rusty door opened to the train, and she walked inside.
Matt was already sitting in the darkened train car, the glow of his cell phone reflecting on his own face. He looked up when he heard someone else arrive, unable to see anything for having been staring into the light of the phone before. He smiled, oblivious as to who they were.
“This isn’t really what I was expecting from a festival of lights.” He admitted to whoever it was, trying not to take up more room than necessary on the bench seat.

Jesucrist, Quant de temps he estat treballant aquí?
“Sorry. Were you talking to me?”
morethantheintern:
“Maybe one day, if he works really hard, he could be an eternal scout!”
“That would be so cool.”
“I wanted to make it to Eternal but I ended up stuck with concrete poisoning. The doctors told my parents I had to drop out. How far did you get in girl scouts?”
morethantheintern:
“As far as I know that’s how it works. I was in the Night Vale Girl Scouts. I still have my radiation immunity badge in my bedroom. I still has that faint nauseating glow.”
“It’s the best, right? I have so many good memories from boy scouts. Man, I really hope he gets chosen.”
lowell-iversen:
“Yeah, sure, bro. Whoa, tripped!”
“By the way, your lips are super soft. What kind of chapstick do you use?”
“There are multiple kinds? I just steal Em’s.”
