“Babe, what are you doing?” Kate asked, rousing from a nap. She had been reading on the sofa with Lily but now she woke to her husband sitting on the floor with a book in his hands and Lily curled into her side still napping herself.
“Reading Casino Royale to the babies,” he replied.
“Oh okay, so I can’t read them Grimm but you can read them James Bond?” she teased.
“It’s James Bond Day, I wanted to share it with them,” Castle told her. Her heart melted a little. He was so excited and nervous about the twins coming. Their baby boys. “This book… means a lot to me.”
Kate smiled. “How about you share a movie with me once Lily’s in bed?”
“As long as there’s M&Ms in my popcorn, I’d like a movie night with my husband. And Daniel Craig.”
“Bond night?” He asked eagerly.
“Yes, it is James Bond Day,” Kate replied. She honestly didn’t care what they watched, she just wanted a night curled up with him.
“Maybe if you set it up now we can watch something with Lily,” Kate suggested, enjoying her comfy spot on the sofa.
Castle jumped up and laid a kiss on her head.
“Like I would make popcorn without M&Ms? It’s like you’re new to a Castle movie night,” Castle feigned hurt. “I stocked up on the gummy bears you like too. Don’t tell Lily or you’ll have to share.” He whispered, eyeing their sleeping daughter.
Kate’s eyes lit up. “Yes please. Mommy and babies want.” She ran her fingers through Lily’s hair, starting the process of waking her little girl from her nap.
She looked at the book lying on the coffee table. The copy of Casino Royale she knew Martha had purchased for him one birthday when he was a kid because he’d taken out from the library so many times. He was sharing a part of his childhood with his kids.
He stuck his head out of the office where he was grabbing the projector and sheet.
“Why don’t you read a little more?”
He smiled, dropping his prizes into a chair and grabbed the book from the coffee table, slipping onto the floor and pressing a kiss against her baby bump before getting comfortable and reading a little more until Lily roused and wanted to play and watch movies.
Cause you know Castle celebrated it somehow!
