Comets are more dangerous than Asteroids.

Asteroids are relatively close to the Earth and therefore their orbits can be studied. Instead the long-range Comets come from the Oort cloud that extends from 0.3 to 1 light year from us. The heat of the Sun activates their wake only in the inner Solar System making them visible. But too late to implement protocols to avoid a collision with the Earth. In addition the Comets travel at much higher speeds than the Asteroids, causing extreme damage in a possible collision.
