The story behind a collecting craze that began in Renaissance Europe.
This was a very interesting documentary, talking about how cabinets of curiosities became what they are. The documentary explains how Cabinets of curates became bragging pieces for the rich and wealthy. It became a compassion who could get the most exotic objects. People would hots parties in their cabinets to flaunt their wealth.

Mr. Bingo Is a illustrator by trade who has mad a reputation for himself by insulting people. He has a light hearted approach to things and uses edgy humour in his work. I love the work he does the comedic values are brilliant and I think the use of humour is so attractive in the world we live in today. Whether the humour be edgy, slapstick, family humour etc, I think is a brilliant tool to attract people and draw attention to your work. this is evident with Mr. Bingo’s work.
Although I see fine art as more of an expressive medium and I understand it is more important to show induvidualism as an artist, As a graphic designer I don't see it as being as important. My reasoning for this is art music dance etc is more of an expression of the individual where as graphic design is more orientated around industry therefore there needs to be some form of conformity. I see being a graphic designer being more of a visual problem solver, finding creative solutions to visual problems.
But I can see some benefits to being more expressive with my design work, maybe through my own personal branding, such as business cards, portfolio etc.
I was watching a documentary the other day on the BBC called "Back in Time for Dinner". It was made up of several parts. It was about a modern day family who had to eat and live like they did in each decade. It started off in the 1950's and goes un until the 1990's. There was one part I really found interesting and that was during the 1980's where bottled water became popular. It just made me think, when people say "advertising has no affect on me", companies are now able to make us pay for fancy bottles of water which normally we can get water for free. All due to branding and advertising. The documentary goes on to say that people took an interest in buying bottled water as it worked as a way to boast, for example "I am earning so much money I can buy something which you can normally get for free". This just goes to show how much advertising and brand reinforcement has an affect on people.
Here is one Idea for the Degree’s exhibition. the idea is to overlay work with each individuals degree number.

Murray Parish Trust Completion
The clients where very happy with the outcomes. They where happy with the brand and feel it represents them well. They now have a website where you can see what they do and where you can donate to their trust click here to have a look.

The final thing we where asked to create was a landing page for the Murray Parish website. This is how we chose to design the landing page
Here is a mock up for the stationary range, including letterhead, comp slip and double sided business card.

We where then asked to continue with the branding creating other stationary, a business card, letterhead and compliment slip.
We swapped the smaller footprint to that of Ella Jayne’s. We then did some variables for the darker version. With James and JJ’s help we decided that the one with the lilac “THE” & “TRUST” worked the best. As the white text made the “MURRAY PARISH” pop out.
After discussion with James and JJ, they decided this idea was strongest and asked for us to develop it further. Swapping out the smaller foot for the Ella Jayne’s foorprint. Then also to try the logo out on a darker background.
These are the initial designs me and Ryan came up with for the Murray Parish Trust logo.

Me and my colleague/friend where responsible of working on the logo. We both had to come up with some ideas for the logo. We liked the idea of using either Ella Jaynes foot or hand print in the logo like the client said as it adds a nice touch to the logo.

Sarah and James like the idea of incorporating Ella Jayne’s foot or hand print in the logo. They also liked the idea of using lilac, although they where not hung up over it but if we could include it they would like to.
Further to our discussion here are photos of Ella Jayne's foot & hand prints.
The client wants the brand to create a classy but personal image, so nothing to “austere or grand” but something that people take seriously. Also Ella Jayne's presence in the logo is important to the client.
The Murray Parish Trust
While working at untitled™ we where asked to create a logo and brand for a Charitable Trust called “The Murray Parish Trust”.
The Client's are the actors Sarah Parish and James Murray, who have set up 'The Murray Parish Trust'.
The Murray Parish Trusts goal is to raise funds, to the target of £1M, for a new childrens hospital in Southampton. They previously raised funds through the Charity 'Friends of Picu' following the tragic death of their baby daughter Ella Jane at the age of 9 months, 5 years ago. They have now decided to move away from Friends of Picu and set up their own Charitable Trust. Though initially they have the same goal of raising the funds to build the childrens hospital. this might develop into other areas of giving. They are launching the Charitable Trust at the Groucho Club in London with a charity auction of artwork.
The audience for the logo is to people who will give generously to this cause, and not children.
