In the last few months I’ve moved in a new place in Milan and finally I’ve got my own studio. Angelo Colombo, young Italian actor and high school mate of mine, is the subject of the first portrait I made in this new space. Nothing to be pointed out as a portfolio hit but, I may say, it’s a first round I’d like to celebrate.

"Direzioni (Anni)Zero è un mediometraggio / documentario indipendente girato tra Milano e Torino nel Marzo del 2011, con protagonisti i componenti e le canzoni della band underground dei Somewhere Between. La storia, paradossale e a tratti volutamente naïf, del gruppo è l’espediente simbolico per esprimere una velata quanto allegorica fotografia della cosiddetta “generazione anni zero” del primo decennio italiano degli anni duemila. Italia, 17 Marzo 2011. Tra le strade di una Torino post-olimpica e immersa nel pieno delle celebrazioni per i 150 anni dell’Unità d’Italia, il film ripercorre la storia dei Somewhere Between. Ironici, distaccati, stralunati, i caratteri di questa misconosciuta “(under)underground” band riflettono l'intrecciarsi di diversi registri stilistici. Un sottile e velato alternarsi tra finzione e realtà mira a svelare l'entusiasmo e le difficoltà di affermazione di una giovane generazione da poco reduce dal primo e forse indefinibile decennio degli anni duemila, quando sogni, speranze, ambizioni non sono mai apparsi così sfocati. Uno spaesamento perso e a metà strada (“somewhere between”, appunto) tra il sotteso e l’indefinibile, ma anche tra la fine dell’adolescenza e l’inizio dell’età adulta, dalle cui responsabilità non si può, inesorabilmente, fuggire."
