hi im working on a haunted hotel au so im just gonna. drop a bunch of stuff about it into a long intro post

if you dont wanna read it all tl;dr is that this is an au blog and im gonna be dropping stuff about it here sometimes blahblah its about the realities abaddon couldnt save blahblah esthers exploring them

ive always wondered what the realities abaddon failed to save are like. we only get snippets of a few and its only their deaths, but what if a couple of the freelings (or even side characters like heather) are surviving? that's what this is exploring basically

as of now i have one of these timelines done and am writing / designing for it while i work on the others. each one has a set combination of surviving cast members, ill list the current 3 i plan on including in no particular order since i am trying to keep a surprise for one

i felt these would give me good chances to explore these guys a little. do note that these groups only include the people who are major parts. some side ghosts are here too

how are we seeing these timelines though? well, esthers the one exploring them! i felt like she was the one i understood the least when i started this stuff so naturally that means exploring her character a little by writing about her.

its for this same reason shes not part of the three groups i currently have. while having two esthers would be fun, it just doesnt suit what i want y'know

question 2! how would these realities.. be different. why would different people survive hell on earth

well, theyre not all hell on earth. if abaddon's actively trying to stop a ritual, whos to say he didnt mess it up a few times? apocalypse is a broad term, it ranges from zombies to the sun exploding. and *because* it's so broad, these failed realities are all different ways you can define an apocalypse

im unsure what other questions to fit in here but if you have any i encourage you to ask it helps me develop my worlds more clearly

You mentioned a13's version of the apocalypse and i was wondering if you could explain that a little better?? Im curious lol

the 3 timelines shown in the main story have different versions of an apocalypse! a13 is a desolate wasteland, a53 is overrun by plants and a28 is zombies

each timeline has its own reason why those who lived lived. for a13, the wasting didnt have any affect on conduits (which is why ben is the sole survivor). a lot of ghosts are missing because.. well how would you have spaghetti night when its just ben. pretty much anyone whose reason for staying involves the living people (other than ben) got cored

i think a13's apocalypse was the calmest though. the wasting stuff took a solid few months to finish before ben was the only freeling. i mean abaddon never died but he did leave once kathy died. but youd just get kinda tired and sick over time and then never wake up really

i feel like his design changes arent properly explained yet so thats below

as you grow up your hair tends to gain more melanin. the earlier the attempt for that timeline was, the further into the future it is from a101 (the one where everyone lives)

a13 is.. well, the 13th, and is around 4 years after the cult stuff.

it's is also why hes in different clothes. realistically his hoodie from when hes 13 wouldnt fit him at 17. theyre suited for colder weather due to that... somewhat? being what a13's version of the apocalypse is

additionally, a13 doesnt get sun. thats why his skin is represented as white in the timeline's artstyle (it isnt. if he was from a101 itd just be like. abaddon colored)

i was gonna defreckle him for the same reason but i feel like thatd be taking away what makes him ben. i cant do that thats cruel. its like taking his tooth gap or his mouth shape. cruel and unsual
