Research looking into Richter’s writings in the Daily Practice of Painting. It was really interesting to hear his inner monologue and ideas about the medium and how he feels he uses it. I also research into his 48 Portrait series, this made me think of how I catabolise or name my work to make it more understandable or to convey meaning
-18th February 2020
Some preliminary research into Gerhard Richter and his use of soft-focus, also known as Vermalung
-Monday 17th February
I started to look into Sarah Kogan and her work on display at the Saatchi Gallery. Her use of abstracted landscapes and tonal qualities provide an experience for her audience. That subtle feeling of conveying heavily topics like death and war, through her void like paintings. I want to study her paintings to see how she translates ink into oil and retains the fluidity of the ink.
