a small trail of smoke danced into the air as it escaped the blonde’s cherry lips. her hair was thrown up into a haphazard ponytail and her chipping nails held the half smoked cigarette between them. the night was as beautiful as you could ask for, the air still warm enough to enjoyably sit by the lake outside the bar. dulled music echoed through the night as bea continued to feverishly finish the cigarette before going back in. footsteps interrupted her thoughts and she turned to meet eyes with the culprit. “here for a smoke too?” her voice low yet inviting. “or are you just going to drunkenly walk around the sea walk? if it’s the latter, don’t expect me to go after you.”
A cigarette. She knew it from the moment she walked past the blond figure. Much as she hated how much it separated her from others, and made her look like a complete buzzkill, her body couldn’t tolerate smoke of any kind. She started coughing her oh-so distinct CF cough, and distanced herself from the girl. “Clearly not the former,” she managed to get out, taking in a quick gasp of breath. “Cigarettes don’t really work with my lungs.” She kept her distance as her cough died down.
