cecilyjvcksonâ:
She signaled to the bartender, the man crossing over to her so she could order another drink. âAnother whiskey, please? You want anything?â She asked Theo, hoping he would say yes, if just to keep the conversation going. âMary Durk. What a sexy name. All the girl and boy furbies are going to love him,â she said, absentmindedly twirling a lock of long blonde hair around her finger. âWe can give the sex talk together. United front and all that. Show him that mom and dad are a team.â
âUh, yeah,â his head nodded, âplease. Same thing.â As the tip of his fingers softly tapped the bar surface, his eyes didnât leave her. âOur son is gonna have so many admirers. I mean, how could he not? Heâs fucking cool.â Aside from the obvious surface flaws, that is. âWeâll do it together, but we canât dumb it down for him. Straight to the point, simple, easy, whatever. What age, though?â
b-harloweâ:
A sober Bea would have slunk away from his closeness, the lone wolf inside her howling for solitude. However, once she had a few drinks in her, the social side of the blonde reared itâs head. âWouldnât you be worried about falling in?â her eyebrow raised in question. âIâm guessing being drunk doesnât leave you with great coordination. But, I am always up for a late night walk. Just as long as we stay on dry land.â
âFalling in isnât so bad if you know how to swim,â he responded, leaning away now as he stared up at the sky. Being outside and not in the chaos he was previously in, it felt nice. But it also brought back the thought of Lockwood and the app. Shaking the thoughts away, his eyes glanced over at the person he was talking to. âDry land it is, then. Dry, dry, dry. Thatâs a weird word, you know that? Say it so many times and youâll wonder if itâs actually a word or if itâs made up.â
milesaldcnâ:
âItâd probably be easier if I understood what all the signs say, but I donât speak a word of Dutch,â he said, shrugging his shoulders indifferently. âAh, itâs no problem. Nothing more frustrating than not being able to find your way around. What are you even looking for?â
âUh,â was he going to say the truth and give Miles a reason to think he was pathetic? Or was he going to lie and act like he was just exploring a city he had already explored a lot of -- even if he didnât know his way around. âFriends. Dutch friends that know nothing about me, mostly.â
cecilyjvcksonâ:
Tucking a long strand of blonde hair back behind her ear, her blue eyes focused on his. âCompromise, fine. If only because I want to stop talking about the name Durk.â Her red lips, lipstick slightly smudge from being raised to a glass of whiskey, parted to let out a soft laugh. âHeâll be a fashionable Furby. Make all the others jealous,â she stated, strap of her tank slipping down with the small shrug she gave him, the lowering of his voice making her lean in closer to hear. âAlright, you can be the father, but only because Iâm not ready for motherhood. But I totally could have handled the sex talk. Iâm good at those things. Would have kept it factual and informative. Besides, maybe heâs into boys. Donât be so closed minded,â she joked, lips twitching into a smile.Â
Theo sipped his drink as she spoke, listening intently. For some reason, he was interested in the conversation -- no matter how weird or out of place it actually was. He set the beer down as a smile grew on his face, the thought of becoming a father to a Furby actually making him excited. Theo had always wanted to become a dad, so this was just one step closer to getting that experience. âHey,â his hand moved casually as he spoke, âthat just means Iâm the better informant since Iâm a guy. Iâm open to giving Marv any advice he needs.â
maddiealdensâ:
Arm resting along Theoâs shoulders in a gesture of familiar comfort, Maddie squinted at the paper as if staring at it hard enough would magically give her the answer to Theoâs directional dilemma. Resignedly turning her head away from it and toward Theo, she offered him a small smile. âWell, youâve got me. Useless or not. And I donât have any strict plans for the day if you wanna get lost in the city together,â Maddie offered, smile growing minutely as the other revealed the goal behind finding the building. âDutch friends, specifically?â
âWell, yeah, I know that.â And it wasnât a problem for him. At the mention of a specific kind of friend he was searching for, Theo couldnât help by shyly look away with a slight shrug. It felt weird saying it aloud. âDutch girls, maybe. But, I mean, Iâm not opposed to hanging out with you instead. I can just act like someone completely different around them since they donât... I donât know. They donât know me.â
iâll be on soon :)
miaxcsâ:
with the shadow not moving an inch, the brunette let out a BARELY audible sigh before she removed one of her earpods, head slowly beginning to lower down to look at the innocent victim she was ready to shoo before her gaze settled upon a familiar frame. a way too familiar frame, in her case. âtheo ? â she asked, clearly in disbelief to find him there before her ; not because it was surreal they met, but the fact she wasnât made aware he was in this part of the world too. âoh, my god ! what - what the fuck ? what are you doing here ? â her mood was seemingly turned for the better as she offered a smile despite the shock that was still fully plastered on her face, taking out the other earpod from her ear before she stood up to wrap her arms around him. â âi canât believe youâre here ! âÂ
The reaction he got caused a grin to appear on his face as he held his arms out and wrapped them around her. It was a nice reaction, given the longevity of not seeing one another. Theo didnât realize how much he liked being around her until now, although it could have been because of the surprise of running into one another. âIâm here for the whole school thing,â he stated, reluctantly pulling his body away so he could see her face. âWhy didnât you tell me you were gonna be in Amsterdam?â Before Mia could respond, he hugged her again with a shake of his head. âForget it. I fucking missed you, dude.â
milesaldcnâ:
âUm,â he started, investigating the map as Theo extended it toward him. He figured he must not have glanced up properly, had been too wrapped up in his current task to notice he was speaking to Miles and not a nameless local. âThink itâs on the West end of campus,â he said with a shrug. âBut thatâs as far as I know. Donât really know my own way around yet.â
âDamn,â he mumbled to himself. The last thing Theo wanted to do was continue walking farther than he wanted to, but that was his fault for not figuring things out sooner. âWhyâre there no good directions around this place?â He retrieved the map back to his side, actually giving who he was talking to a look. âOh, my bad, dude. Iâve been going around asking whoever I see and you were the unlucky one.â
cecilyjvcksonâ:
Raising a single eyebrow at his âblondieâ, Cecily looks him over with a smile, shrugging her shoulders. âWow, spanked for hating the name Durk. Mr. Grey will see me now, I guess,â she joked, lips wrapping around the straw of her drink to take another sip of gin and tonic. âNah, I didnât eat crayons. Melted them with a lighter until it got confiscated when I accidentally lit some girlâs hair on fire. Coming for Patrick Veronaâs bad boy brand.â She licked over her lips before speaking again. âThe father? This is kind of like one of those flour bag experiments in high school. Fair warning, Iâm absolutely the type of parent to lose the child.â
His eyes squinted as he paid attention to her features, soon licking his lips and nodding. He heard everything she said, though he didnât care to say anything that would continue the topic of crayons. âIâll compromise on Durk being the middle name,â a finger rose, âIf you let me be the father and have partial custody. I gotta take him shopping for an eyepatch or something. Maybe a hat. And,â Theo glanced over at the Furby before leaning closer toward the blonde and lowering his voice. âHeâs gonna need a dad in case he needs to talk about girl Furbies.â
miaxcsâ:
one thing was ABSOLUTELY downright obvious ; mia didnât want to be here. in fact, the last thing she wanted was to spend yet another semester with the people she had every plan to avoid until late september. which not only explained her run to spain and getting off the grid, but the reason why she actually kept a somewhat low profile. which was odd ; especially if you knew her. either way, if it werenât for her father that basically dragged her ass to amsterdam to begin with, she would probably still party on her friendâs yacht in the middle of spanish sea trying to forget everything involving watershed and the damage it has done. why did her father send her here ? she didnât exactly question. not like he would give her an answer even if she did. sitting cross-legged in front of the old wooden table in vodelpark while soaking up the warm weather in a summer dress, the brunette listened to one of the newest ( underrated ) musicians on youtube through her earpods, simply enjoying her saturday afternoon. dark shades hiding her mocha-colored hues, she kept her head up towards the sun until a shadow came over her. âyouâre blocking the sun,â she stated the obvious without actually opening her eyes, simply assuming it was yet another local. â âthatâs usually a cue to move,âÂ
In all honesty, Theo enjoyed being in Amsterdam. It was nice to get away from Lockwood and all the drama that came with it. He wasnât constantly reminded of Tatiana or anything that really had to do with her, which was a good thing for him since he needed a long overdue break. Exploring the new country was fun until he got lost, and the only place he could remember was Vondelpark. It was calming, something he needed after partying as much as he had been. Which, wasnât normal, but it was the perfect time to try change things up. âWhat?â Theo turned around, eyes landing on the girl that spoke a familiar voice. Seeing Mia was surprising since he wasnât expecting it, and the way she spoke gave her identity away, but didnât want to say anything unless he was wrong. âI was protecting you from the sun.â
b-harloweâ:
a small trail of smoke danced into the air as it escaped the blondeâs cherry lips. her hair was thrown up into a haphazard ponytail and her chipping nails held the half smoked cigarette between them. the night was as beautiful as you could ask for, the air still warm enough to enjoyably sit by the lake outside the bar. dulled music echoed through the night as bea continued to feverishly finish the cigarette before going back in. footsteps interrupted her thoughts and she turned to meet eyes with the culprit. âhere for a smoke too?â her voice low yet inviting. âor are you just going to drunkenly walk around the sea walk? if itâs the latter, donât expect me to go after you.â
Theo promised himself that heâd let loose and have fun for this trip. He wasnât going to reject drinks or parties or anything of the like. After a handful of drinks, he was outside and roaming. Theo shook his head side-to-side as he heard her words, a grin forming on his face. âYou wouldnât join me?â he questioned, moving closer to her and sitting down beside her. Theo could feel the alcohol in his system, but he wasnât drunk. Not to him, anyway. âWhat kind of person are you? Huh? You donât like walking?â
maxdarlxngâ:
Max wasnât the most aware person, to say the least. Meaning, when she was just walking around campus, her mind tended to drift off, so at first, she didnât react when the boy called for her. After realizing he wanted to ask her a question, she immediately turned around to face him. âSorry! I didnât realize you were talking to me âŠâ she laughed lightly, biting her lip. Looking at the name of the building, she nodded quickly. âYeah. The diner on campus? Iâm actually headed there now.â She needed dinner before she went out for the night - having the metabolism of a hummingbird wasnât always convenient. âItâs not a far walk, just up to the end of the street, and then a right.â
He was about to give up before reaching out to her, and even then, he didnât have much faith that sheâd be of any help. A soft sigh of relief occurred as he gave the girl a genuine and thankful smile before finally speaking. âYou have no idea how much I love you right now,â Theo joked, his hazel eyes staying in her. âDid you wanna go there together, maybe?â
lusilvasâ:
âNice to meet you, Theo.â She reciprocated the nod, simply brushing a brunette lock from her face. â Now I can start my career as a tour guide, what do you think ? â She joked, her steps always light as the smile seemed to linger. âTo the right, you can see a few dorms â Junior ones to be exact,â she continued, however soon cut off once she heard his suggestion. âOh, that sounds great ! Can you skate ?â
His head nodded without hesitation as he looked over at the dorms, then at her, then back again. âYouâd be a great tour guide. Everyone would ask for you to show âem around.â His nose scrunched and his head tilted slightly to the side. He knew how, but wasnât that good at it. âI guess?â was his response before continuing to clarify. âI mean, I went a couple times with my family when I was little, but I sucked and never went again.â
cecilyjvcksonâ:
âHarsh. Thinking of crying crocodile tears in the bathroom now. Dreams? Crushed,â she responded. She knows sheâs strange, that her odd sense of humor is off-putting to some. âDurk? No offense but thatâs a terrible name. If a child was named Durk I would have bullied him so hard in elementary school.â Her leather skirt shifted as she crossed her legs putting her head in her hand. âYou look kind of familiar. Like the hall monitor who wrote me up in 9th grade for smoking. Think heâs still a virgin. Didnât mean that as an insult, or that you look like a virgin. Just making casual observations,â she said with a shrug, smile still on her face. âAnyways, think he could be more of a Satan Junior. He looks demonic enough.â
As much as Theo wanted to act offended by the virgin comment, he couldnât help but smile and laugh at it. He was used to it from his friend group, so hearing it from someone else was amusing. âOkay, listen, blondie,â a grin was still on his face. âDurk is a fucking great name. Youâd be lucky to even know a Durk.â Theo mimicked her movement, head in hand. âYou look like a girl that used to eat crayons in my fifth grade class. She was weird.â A beat passed. âAnd you should stick with the Durk name since I now wanna be the father of this demonic thing.â
bastianlisâ:
âUh, do you know where, uh, this place is?â Though his mocking tone verges on cruel, his smileâs easy as he nudges Theoâs shoulder and slings an arm around his shoulders to draw him in for a half-hearted embrace. âThatâs the Social Science building, whyâre you going there, dude? Taking some fuckinâ psych course or something? Lame.â A piece of gum keeps his jaw busy, dark eyes shielded by pristine Rayban sunglasses as he looks around the campus quad. âLetâs go get a drink instead. Feel like I havenât seen you in fuckinâ ages. You been holed up somewhere masturbating?â
A look of annoyance played on his face at the mocking Bas did as he pushed himself away from the embrace. âJesus, dude.â It mightâve been a while since they really hung out, but that was one thing Theo didnât miss about his friend. Sometimes it was nice not being ridiculed, even as a joke. âOh, yeah, definitely. I need a drink. All this nonstop jacking off is making me so tired and I feel like my armâs about to fall off.â
maddiealdensâ:
Familiarity was a comfort, especially in the face of so much newness. Amsterdam was exciting, sure, but it was a lot of excitement for someone as timid as Maddie. The blonde found herself jumping at the chance to indulge in her old favorites when the opportunity arose: her favorite brand of red wine, her favorite sweater, her favorite snacks. All familiar comforts. So, when she was greeted by Theo Samuels, a family friend and yet another familiar facet of her life, a smile easily slid onto her face. âTheo,â she greeted, smile wilting minutely as she read the name of the building and raked her memory for something useful. âIâm⊠horrible at directions. That hasnât changed. Is there not an app that can give you directions? Sorry for being useless. Whatâre you looking to do there? Anything fun?â
He shouldâve known sheâd be useless when it came to directions. They both were. Even then, he was happy Maddie was who she was and that he stopped her. âI thought someone would fucking know this place, but everyoneâs either saying they donât know or theyâre ignoring me.â His eyes stared at the name of the building, trying to think of where he last saw it. Fist crumbling the paper, Theo stuffed it into his jacket pocket. âIâm trying to find new friends. If theyâre up for fun, Iâm not against it.â
