My friend ( @ello-its-slimegoat ) had put a thought in my head. Lately there's been a lot of populatity of character vs character rap battles (Shes 17 Scott.) And also as a lot of us in this fandom probably know Actor and Caine are kinda similar especially after the last episode so....

I’m honestly so tired of the Chase obsession in this fandom.

Before anyone jumps on me, yes, I know he’s been through things. I’m not denying that he has trauma or that bad things have happened to him. But the way the fandom talks about it, you’d think he’s the only character in the entire story who has ever suffered.

Everyone else’s pain just gets brushed aside or treated like it’s somehow less important.

JJ literally got possessed. Twice. That’s not a small thing. That’s a massive, horrifying experience for a character to go through. And yet somehow it barely gets acknowledged in the same conversations where everyone is endlessly dissecting Chase’s trauma.

It’s like the fandom decided a long time ago that his suffering is the only suffering that really matters.

And honestly, the way people portray him doesn’t even feel like nuanced trauma representation anymore. The whole "sad divorced dad who needs people to take care of him" narrative has gotten so exaggerated that it’s basically become a caricature. Instead of a complex character with layers, flaws, and strengths, he’s constantly reduced to this helpless, dependent sad boy who always needs someone else to fix him.

That’s not deep. That’s not meaningful character analysis. If anything, it flattens him as a character and turns him into a fandom comfort prop.

And the worst part is how this dynamic pushes every other egos to the sidelines. Their arcs, their struggles, their trauma it all becomes background noise because the fandom conversation keeps orbiting around the same "poor Chase" narrative over and over again.

And honestly? That’s the biggest reason he’s become my least favorite ego. Not because I hate him as a character, but because the way the fandom constantly centers him and reduces him to this "uwu sad boy" archetype has made it exhausting to engage with anything involving him.

I completely agree with this and what you stated isn't even the most of what has happened to JJ. Granted I might be biased as well but I can tell you one thing that being possessed twice is not just it. In the first video he was also manupliated into a state of trusting anti and then possessed.

It's heavily suggested that in the first video with JJ, the hand that gives JJ the knife is Anti and then after JJ gets possessed, Anti doesn't do any horrid or anything he simply stops JJs wound from bleeding. This all sets JJ up in being in a state of trusting Anti and then it all leads up to the 2nd video where Anti puts strings around JJ and forces control onto him.

I hate how sexualized had owoed this fandom has made Chases writing

Chase isn't a good mormally person.

He is a man who saw that working on a channel that wasn't going anywhere, would be better then getting a part time job to try and support him, his wife AND KID/S.

Not to say Chase is a horrible person, no, but he's just not smart and his morals are in the wrong places and most of the fandom cushion his actions and ignored the layered writing.

All of the egos are so layered to the point I love this fandom so fucking much for it's writing. I could gush all day about JJ and the lore but then I look at the fandom and it's like...

Things could be better.

The ego fandom just in general still has this standards like it's 2017

Granted 2017 wasn't a bad time but at the same time

The characters are bigger then their desciptions.

Marvin is more then a cat magician

JJ is more then a mute puppet

Henrik is more then a german doctor

Jackie is more then a superhero

And Chase. Is. More. Then. A. Sad Dad.

Not to say that people can't baby Chase Brody, if you love the guy and wanna like take care of him and stuff be my guest who am I to stop you, just don't ignore the others cause their writing is just as amazing and don't dumb down Chase to be something to idealize

Those things can be in the same room at the same time

JJ x Henrik - my top favorite and one of the ships I really like compared to the rest lol. JJ and Henrik have this sort of stable and relationship where their kinda like taking care of each other and the others. They do their best to take care of each other and make sure each other are ok

Wilford x Dark - this is quite basic lol but I just generally feel like their a bit trauma bonded while at the same time they feel distance from each other

Wilford x Abe - TRAGIC YOAI. obviously I don't ship them in wkm but their tension in wmlw is so tragic to me and aches me dawg

Author x Actor - ONE OF THE RAIR PAIR I'VE FOUND AND IS MY 2ND MOST OTP, I love these two it's "guy who wants the world to revolut around him" x "guy who make the world whatever he want". It's such a peak ship but I love edging the ship as it's such toxic yoai

Host x Bim - another rair pairrrr!!! And lowkey got the idea from @yellow-hollow cause their one comic of bim and host. It's basically a qpr tho

This is a reflection of how Actor is perfect to their father and William is the debt that burdens them all.

Actor is the perfect son, nice appearance, clean shaven, most likely good grades, on his way to university

William is rough, "messy" hair(thats what curly hair would be reffered as), messy stubble, dropped out of high school, on his way to the military to make up being a failure. William was only adopted to keep Actors circle around him involved in the cult.

Both Actor and William end up having lots of issues later down the line. Later down the line Actor and William end up getting in a fight where Actor spills about knowing Williams real father and Actor ends up having issues with being perfect to the point he will go to murder if he doesn't have people who deem him as the right fit or perfect. William ends up having anger issues and minor perfection issues as well where he wants others around him to be perfect like how he thinks they should be.

Don't you think that namedropping an artist is a bit weird? Why can't you just block? You obviously know the name.

I do see that name dropping could be a issue but also I just particularly wanted to highlight that I don't like then and their content makes me uncomfortable and I don't want their fanbase interacting with me. Also I do have them blocked.

As of rn I believe that I don't have a fanbase to be able to actually send hate to people by just mentioning their name but if I was more popular yes there would be a much bigger problem. I get your point is what I'm saying.

But I will probably be remaking my DNI list soon as I'm realizing there might be a issue here and there.

I made that DNI list as like a last second thing cause It took me monthhhhsss to finish that intro post and I wasn't really thinking behind it. So please try to not to point out any more issues with that DNI list untill I get the time to make a new one.
