SPOILERS FOR ep 25 of CR4 and d20 a Crown of Candy
Watching Critical Role 4 is genuinely the highlight of me week and so enjoyable when I don’t have a little birdies in my ear telling me it sucks.
The best part about watching the first episode of The City Council of Darkness is that Purpee is about a third LARGER than where I grew up. Like yes…. Small town… it’s so different here… haha all the places are closed before 9pm… so funny.
No but actually I feel seen living in the middle of nowhere is definitely an experience.
I love gay April Fools because what do you MEAN your prank is a one episode long season two for a show that never actually existed.
Never been more excited for an April fools prank than I am with this D20 YouTube countdown.
A great Thursday is watching the new Critical Role episode while you force your friend to watch Cloudward Ho next to you
(Brennan is wearing the same shirt on both of our screens rn who’s surprised?)
Hi I'm alive. Phibzposing
I’m sad and it’s 1am so that means it’s the perfect time to watch D(e)ad the movie. (This is my 3rd time watching it and I have never watched it before 1am)
I think Murph and Beardsley sitting next each other is the secret glue of fantasy high, because over time Murph gets more comfortable taking big swings and doing things purely for The Bit, and at the same time Beardsley gets more comfortable with the actual dnd mechanics so that they have the technique to back their big swings up.
I have made solider, poet, king edits for each table so far and that got me thinking about the differences in what they wish they were vs. what they are.
I’m loving critical role campaign 4 so much and every single PC
This was lowkey hard and I ended up switching a few quite a bit but I wanted to stick with one PC per box
me, watching my mutuals post ceaselessly about a fandom i’m not in:
Murph and Emily on Um Actually! This is not a drill. Also this was the first um actually I’ve watch in a while and forgot how bad at this kind of trivia I am
spoilers for d20, crit role, & WBN
I know this has been talked about before and I can’t remember who originally said it. In the last 24 hrs I’ve been thinking about how the true tragedy about Muni is not that he’s dead, it’s that from the second his name hit the paper he was always going to be dead. He was always going to be the prodigy who tragically died too young of a sudden aneurysm. Muni never had the chance to be anything else. Muni, even though he is someone Hugi loved very much he was always the backstory to Hugi and never in the actual story.
This is the same tragedy of Thjazi in Critical role 4, dying for a cause you believe in (especially in dnd) is heroic and the ultimate sacrifice. Yet that’s not who Thjazi is, he’s someone who was created so that he could die and set the campaign in motion. Brennan killed him twice, once when the campaign opened and once when the idea of the campaign was first made. The plan to save him was never going to work because there was never a plan to save him, he died from the curse of being an NPC.
I think one of the campaigns where this is highlighted the most is world beyond number WWW (major major spoilers here) both in grandma Ren and Suvis parents. First grandma Ren, her death was always going to happen both to have the three PC come together but also so Ame could become the Witch of Worlds Heart. You don’t get Ames coming of age if she’s alive. In her birth as a character her death certificate was signed. And then for Suvis parents, they were never going to save their daughter and the world she will one day inherit they were always going off to their deaths. There were no rolls, no creative problem solving, no perfect game place that could save them because there were no odds. The deck wasn’t stacked against them because there was no deck. There has to be a villain so Suvis parents have to die.
and then lastly my tragic candy land, ACOC and rav war. As Brennan once said he killed Pamelia Rocks twice, once when he wrote that she died, and once when he cast the spell that killed her. For Lou was playing a king and a king doesn’t become king when his parents are alive. You need your character to be invested in a world and for that to happen you need them to have love and loss. Something and someone worth fighting for.
Anywho I could go on and on about more and more NPCs but these ones stick out to me as especially tragic.
Whatever you do DO NOT listen to orange juice by Noah Kahan and think about Hugi I repeat DO NOT
Finished the Gladlands episode HOURS ago and still have tears in my eyes
After that Gladlands episode I need to figure out how to get on the list of people that need >10 second hugs from Kokomo
