@maxwellssecrets:
The phone felt heavy in Maxwell’s hand now as he was sitting against the wall in his quiet and dark flat. He had been trying to write the same text over and over. The words never felt right and he didn’t know how to explain what had happened. He finally put the phone on the...
After the text had been sent, Max had put the phone at his feet again. He didn’t want look at it now as he waited. Some time passed and he started to grow impatient. Course that was what caused his little problem in the first place. Maybe if he was more patient none of this would had happened. As the minutes passed, Max weighed his options. He thought of tossing the body down the garbage shoot. The man was slender enough to fit with a little force. As Max considered all the reasons why it was a poor excuse for a plan.First off , yes, the body would be crushed but still enough would remain to make it quite evident that it was a body among the bags of trash. Then on top of that, Max considered all the evidence on the body now.His skin under the guys fingernails where the guy had scratched his arm.The fibers lingering on his clothes from the couch he was sitting .The fibers on him now that from laying on the floor. Not to mention the stuff from Maxwell’s flat that were clinging to the soles of the guy’s shoes.
He’d never be able to get rid of it all and Max really didn’t want to have to touch the guy again now. He’d also never be able to carry him out. Even late at night would be too risky . His neighbors were too nosy. They reported the most mundane noises or sights as evidence of criminal activity. He couldn’t risk taking the body out as whole. Maybe he could…no..he couldn’t do that. He looked at Peters arms.Arms that had held him only a few hours ago. He’d couldn’t cut Peter into pieces . He just couldn’t. Maxwell was capable of a lot of things but not that. No. Not that. Max wasn’t sure why but there was a line between pushing him down the shoot and cutting him into small pieces, but it was there.It would be a line he could never cross.
As he was lost in thought , the text alert on his phone buzzed. He was a bit nervous now.Maybe it was just his brother to make a jab at him again about whether or not he was in prison again.He hadn’t called his brother in a week now. He could see why he may wonder. He couldn’t put it off. He had to face it and look and hope for the best. He picked up the phone and brought it close so he could read the text.Maybe the number he had called would answer back. The man…he figured it had to be a guy..for some reason could send him away or laugh at him.If it was either of those two, Max would think of something else. He had to know the reply before he could start making plans, though. He clicked on the screen for the new text . He read it. Whoever it was was interested or he least seemed interested. Maxwell thought a sec of what he could send back that was sure to get the attention he needed. It was too long a story to explain on text.He still wasn’t sure about calling either.
Then it hit him. Max stood up and walked over to Peter’s body . He took a deep breath and clicked on the camera function on his phone. He turned Peter’s face to the side with his shoe. He wouldn’t have his last picture of him staring up at him like that and he didn’t want to risk Peter’s identity by showing his face and sending it to a stranger.He tried to find the best angle and the best lighting so the picture would be clear and most of Peter would be in frame. He took three to be sure and kept the best one. He attached a message to the picture file just to have something else to send.
I’ve killed the thing I love and now he is but a secret I must get rid of. M
Max waited before sending it . He looked at the picture again just to be sure. He felt like he had one shot at getting this right. He had to make sure it was perfect. He sent it and like before hoped for a reply.
