TIME TO RISE.
a letter to 2015.
2015. hey, old friend, we’ve known each other for a while now, what is it? 365 days? i thought maybe we’ve gotten to the point in our friendship, where, honesty is truly key. so, you’re gonna die. no, not as in “everyone dies someday” as in, you’re gonna die, now. phew, said it, now that i’ve gotten that off of my chest:
thank you. you’ve been good to me, seriously. i can’t quite explain the feeling i get when looking back upon you, you’re something i never experienced, 2015, both extremely literally, and, not as much. you helped me find my footing. and most of all, i was happy this year, in fact, the happiest i’ve been since 2008, the year before my grandmother passed. you did that for me. it was an honor to be able to meet you, 2015. and although we’ll never meet again, and you’ll become a distant memory, you’ll still be one of my favorite ones. i guess what i’m trying to say is, i love you, 2015. as i write this speech, a funeral speech, for you. i have a warm heart, and a engraved smile that you’ve left me. i guess it was in your will, huh? i appreciate it, and i needed it. so many experiences i hope i never forget. and now, i can meet your relative, 2016, with peace in my heart, knowing you’ve been laid to rest appropriately. i’ll try my best to make you proud in the approaching year. but rest assured, you’ll be known for your many deeds done. worldwide, some good, some bad. but one thing you’ll be known for, undoubtedly, is being prolific. you wild thing, you. i hope you go to year heaven with a picture of the world in your hand, or maybe even a large wallet.
bless you, 2015. as the countdown comes, and everyone begins to accordingly rid you of their mind to make room for the new years unknown memories.. 3…2…1 i’ll say a prayer you got your wings not a moment too late. happy new year, old pal. ––– max.
