I dreamed

About a young former paratrooper who promised to take an old dying soldier for one last ride through the air. The old man specified where he would like to fly and talked as if there would be some kind of cure for him there. The young man humored him and they made the jump coasting over an area of hills surrounded by a dying forest.

As they jumped the young man noticed a series of military vehicles below and soldiers moving around in a searching formation. Then he had issues of his own to deal with as a huge bolt of silver light began barrelling towards him and the old man began to cackle gleefully.

He tried to avoid it, but it was no use and it hit him square in the chest. The parachute caught fire and they plummeted to earth, and all the while the while the old man was cackling as the young man panicked. They slammed into the ground and the cackling stopped.

The old man was dead, cackle frozen on his face and body broken at odd angles. The young man dragged himself away and tried to stand but his legs couldnt hold him, as they were shattered in the fall. The military men seemed to notice him now, and at first he was grateful but they had their weapons drawn and were shouting at him.

He dragged himself into the woods and the closer he got, the stronger he felt. His bones seemed to mend themselves and he was able to stand. Then his limbs stretched, his hair grew to cover his body, and as the men with guns reached the edge of the dying forest, he rose towering above the treeline to fanfare and gunfire with a massive full moon behind him and fog rolling in. His human form was gone. All that remained was a giant beast with fur, fangs, and claws.
