Very early WIP of the map/level selection screen of my game
A bit rough around the edges but it's a great start!
Most assets in the tilemap are just reused assets from the levels and the rest of the game, but some props and the player sprites are new, i'm particulary proud of that last one:

Two new designs for the bosses of my game, a rather pathetic whitch and the leader of the group also final boss of the game
The later is called Iris, I'm still not too sure about the former
Now I have seven bosses designed, I don't need any more, they all cover all the boss fights ideas I've had from a long time ago, now it's just a matter of actually implementing them in the game, I was supposed to keep the scope small, but designing characters was too fun, perhaps not every character will make it into the final game
Working on adding hazards to the levels, things that can damage you that aren't the enemies themselves.
For now I have lightning strikes and lava geysers, still wips, but I like where this is going
Messing around with character design ideas to make the villains of my game
I'm not too good at character design but I'm getting there
Here's what I've got so far:
She's more of a magician than a witch, but a magic user nonetheless, I call her Lucy
A scientist witch, I like when there's a bit of sci-fi and technology in fantasy worlds, she's the one that represents that, I call her Tori
I like the type of character that carries a big ass weapon, she's meant to be the boss of the lava/volcanic zone, her name is Cero
A more normal "spooky" witch, very halloween-like, her name is Alma
Neither the designs or the names are final, but I like where this is going
I try to design these characters based of what would be fun to fight against or what I haven't done yet, I can only do the generic witch so many times

Finally i have the 3 main types of equipment working in the game!
Items, wands and brooms, to provide support, change the attack stats or the movement ones respectively
Players can now choose their equipment to match their play style and needs, here's an example:
The first one has balanced movement, decent shooting speed and a burst attack.
The second one is faster but slippery, it's got a lower shoot speed but a powerful explosive attack
The shopkeepers of my game
On my game you can visit 3 stores, to buy items to use in combat, and wands/brooms to change your attack/movement stats, and the shopkeepers I've designed for them are…
They are Ada, Rita and Dera, shopkeepers of the items, spellcasting and brooms stores respectively!
After lots of thought I've landed on these names, they come from spanish words:
Ada <- Hada (Fairy)
Rita <- Varita (Wand)
Dera <- Madera (Wood)
I still need to implement them into the game and make the systems to equip the items they sell, but at least the games graphics are coming in nicely!

A new character for my game, the shopkeeper of the items shop!
If you remember the shopkeeper of this store used to be other, but I've since decided this store should have someone a bit more… generic, I'm still gonna use the other character, but in another store.
I dont pride myself in my character design abilities but I think she is really cute! I'm still looking for names if anyone has any suggestions
Even MORE progress on my game!
Now I have a working in-game store, so the player can finally use the coins they collect to buy the items
In still working on the UI, but I want it to look something like this, with the shopkeeper in the center:
On other news I've redesigned the plaza to make it simpler, I wanted it to be like a hub for the player to go back after every level with shops and story related locations, but the levels ended up being quite short and the story very simple, so I got rid of some buildings and now there's just stores, and the movement it's exclusively 2d
That's all! Except for a little thing, but I think she deserves her own post, in any case I'm happy to be progressing so much in the systems outside of the usual combat I've done so far.
Finally got around redesigning the spell book enemy design! (old/new)
It was the very first enemy I added to the game before I replaced it's model with a winged slime, so it's great to have it back on the game
Every enemy needs to fly in some way, I didn't like how the old one just floats because of ✨magic✨, I feel I can make better excuses than that, so I'm pretty happy with the new design, it makes more sense I think, also it's kind of funny

First of all I've got a neat little test room so I can try new enemies!
(I used to just modify the script of another level to include the new enemy)
Next point: The combo meter, now the game registers when you defeat enemies withing a certain time without getting hit, this is very useful for the:
Ranking system! I've been trying to think of what happens after you "finish" a level, this is what I came up with!
Basically you just need to fulfill 4 goals in each level to get the maximum rank, pretty simple but for now will do.
Now it's looking like an actual game, with actual objectives and goals, and an interesting gameplay!
