Same reason you are, I’m assuming. I wasn’t going to live there forever.
Right - no, you weren't.
Why so curious Maya?
I'm nosy.
No, it’s entertaining but I was bored with my attire.
So you're spicing things up? I like that.
You’re uh.. you’ve got um, something…
You have something on your face.
Oh shit - where?
It went very well thank you.
No details?
Thanks, no special occasion. Just got bored with work.
Working in a club is boring?
Scarlett. Nice to meet you Maya.
Pleasure's mine.
Then let’s go.

brooklyn baby ➜ zac & maya
Brooklyn not being too far out from The Heraldry it was a slight shock when he heard that there were actually a lot of people who had never visited the culture filled streets, sure there were rumors that lurked about how a man would get shot every few minutes, or people would be getting raped but in the long time that Zac had been traveling to that part of the state he had never really seen anything that would worry him, but then again Zac was that sort of person who always tried to find the best in the worst of places. So when Maya had informed him she was but one of the many people who had never been to Brooklyn Zac jumped at the opportunity to take the girl out, there was no harm in it really since all he had planned was to go around and show her some of the places he liked to photograph and on top of everything else it wasn’t bad that the girl he had decided to take with him was quite the looker which meant he would probably get a few good shot’s in.
Glancing over to the clock just to realize it was a few minutes before he was supposed to meet the girl, Zac lifted himself up off his bed and walked over to his side table picking up his phone, and wallet before beginning to search for his camera around the room. Finally finding it he placed it within the small black backpack and examined the bag to identify if all the lenses he planned on using were there. As he finished packing up all his belonging’s Zac made his way out the door and locked it behind him before making his way over the elevator. It didn’t take longer than a minute for the elevator to reach the ground floor. A few minutes later the male was accompanied by the female, turning around to see her he smiled slightly and gazed in awe completely shocked at how attractive she truly was. “Well, I’m a photographer so I usually take some shots there, which is something I’d love to do with you to do.” He smiled to the girl indicating her towards the camera bag he was carrying before making his way towards the door. “You’ve never really been to Brooklyn? Are you just saying that or are you serious?” he laughed out before placing two fingers into his mouth and blowing into it halting a cab towards them.
Why anyone would want to photograph Brooklyn was beyond Maya's ability to comprehend, although she wasn't going to reveal that to Zac, no need to offend him just yet. Brooklyn was filled with poverty, crime and violence - she couldn't remember the last time she had seen anything beautiful there. And why would you want to take a photo of something that wasn't beautiful? She had thought photos were supposed to capture moments worth remembering. At least in her mind, Brooklyn wasn't worth remembering. Maybe he saw something in it she didn't. "So is this a hobby or a profession?" She asked as he held the door open for her and Maya stepped into the taxi, with Zac providing the instructions as to where to go. Photography was never something she had tried herself, art wasn't really her forte anyway. "And I've never been." She lied. "No one I ever grew up with really wanted to go. Neither did my college friends. So I never saw the trip worth taking. Maybe you can change my mind."
It was doubtful that he would - when she made up her mind, she stuck to it. Especially when it concerned the past she was so protectively hiding from everyone in her life. You're always better off with a really good lie. Part of her was curious about Zac though - and his past. "So did you grow up in Brooklyn or what? I mean, you obviously know the streets pretty well." She commented as they passed over Brooklyn bridge, the skyscrapers disappearing into the background behind them. Why choose the rusty lofts of Brooklyn when you had Manhattan? She would never know. "You must see something here."
haven ➜ sebastian & maya
In a night club, it was easy to lose yourself - in the alcohol, the music, the dancing...at a time where no one could talk, it was euphoric. There were no pressures to be anyone but yourself - and Maya couldn't talk about how relived she was about that. There were too many rumours, too many sharp eyes - too much attention being paid for her. Once, she never would have said that was a bad thing, but today? She couldn't be too sure. Nothing was ever concrete, she had learnt that lesson a long time ago. It had begun with her childhood and ended when her relationship to Sebastian did. After that, she had swore she would never let herself get hurt - especially not by a guy who followed his type. And she had sworn she would never see him again - but as her luck would have it, they were neighbours. God it was tempting to set his apartment on fire. Arson was almost worth it. Even here, she was haunted by his presence - and probably for a good reason.
Maya would have recognised that profile anywhere - she had been out with him enough time in clubs to recognise the steep profile of his face and what his hair looked like when the dim light bounced off it. So far, he hadn't seen her. She could turn around - get herself another drink later. But screw him. He stopped dictating her actions a long time ago - and she wasn't going to let him control her anymore. Pushing through the throng of people, she found herself leaning against the bar, next to him. "Two shots of tequila." She ordered, shouting above the music and screams of people. Resisting the temptation to turn her head and look at him was impossible - and so, she granted herself that one wish. "Are you stalking me?" She asked, as if it hadn't been her who had approached him. But still, of all the nightclubs in New York, he chose this one? There were no such things as coincidences.
I try. Is it working?
Maybe.
You don’t remember me, do you?
No. I remember. I'm just wondering why the hell you're here.
