Donât make that joke.
Sure. Okay. Sorry. I wasn't trying to look at you, and I'll just go back to my lab now.
"So I keep hearing. Place does seem pretty interesting, to say the least."
"Most interesting group of people I'm sure."Â
I can feel you staring. Stop.
Why don't you just put your claws back in then, and we'll all be good here.Â
Rogue pulled herself away from his touch as fast as she could, shaking. Images flashed through her mind. Nights in labs, laughing with a dark haired girl named Jen, waking up in the middle of wreckage, moments where she could feel her heart beating too fast and that awful feeling of entirely losing control and becoming⊠Rogue breathed in sharply, shaking as she tried to remember who she was. She needed to get back to her lab, she had work to do⊠She blinked, looking over at Bruce, her hands shaking. She had to stay calm or she might become⊠or would she? The effort of figuring out which memories were hers made her head feel like it was splitting open.Â
"You need to⊠I have toâŠ" Her heat was beating too fast, she had to calm down, it was dangerous, she might⊠might what? "Sugar you gotta whole lot of messy up here." She tapped her forehead lightly and winced. "I gotta get back to the lab⊠or you do⊠or somebody does⊠you should talk to Jen more though⊠or I should⊠this is gonna take a long time to sort out.. damn your psyche is pushyâŠ"
Bruce was trying to focus on his breathing, the ins and outs that could calm his heart. He heard the girl speaking, but was mainly trying to block it out so he could focus. Until the words that passed through his meditation began to get strange, and personal. Once he heard "I might" his eyes snapped open, realizing he might have a true problem on his hands. He moved back over to Rogue, but was careful not to touch her.
"Hey. Hey. Look at me. I need you to focus. What's your power?" If she was simply confused with an influx of his memories, then things would be awkward, but in the end it would be fine. He'd never talk to her again and pretend she didn't know things he refused to ever tell anyone. But if she did somehow gain the Hulk (stranger things had here after all) he needed to start dealing with this immediately.Â

"God, I hope not."
"Do you need something?"Â
This isnât a game. Games are for children. I am capable of figuring things out myself. Always have.Â
Consider it an experiment. Me testing to see if you're as good as you say.Â
Coffee, anyone?
Iâm sure you do, but you donât seem to particularly like me, however. Which is more than fair, I suppose.
Sorry.Â
"Youâd assume right."
"Only got here a couple of days ago, still trying to find my bearings."
"Well it's not too bad once you get used to it."Â
"Oh, come on. Â What has Wayne ever done to you?â
"Nothing. I don't have a reason."Â

"Thanks, Bruce. What about you? What does it feel like for you when you make someone else smile?"
He shrugged. "It's good for them I guess."Â

"Forgive me for pointing this out but you look just like anyone else here. At least so far. I presume there is more to that statement."Â
"If you could tell then it wouldn't be a secret."Â

She opened her mouth to ask about why, but then she saw the look on his face and decided against it. She looked over at him curiously as he pulled a different mouse out. She smiled and petted the mouse, âR-really? I can have him?â She smiled. Sheâd have very few petâs before and while she never pictured herself with a pet mouse, it little guy might turn homeless otherwise. âJeffery, thatâs cute.â She chimed.Â
Bruce gave her a small smile when she chose not to ask about his pet, grateful. Then he looked a bit taken back by he reaction to the offer of the mouse. Â Initially, it had been a joke, but if she wanted to take the rat, he would certainly let her. He did need a place to stay after all. "Of course. But I do need this cage, so uh.. you'll have to figure something out for that. You can have as much food as you need though."Â
Rogue knew that it was a little ridiculous to go off campus every day just for the sake of coffee, but sheâd found a cafe a short walk away that made coffee that tasted like angels had flown down from heaven and personally prepared every cup, and sheâd be damned if she was going to go back to the instant crap after tasting this liquid gold.Â
As she made her way back towards the main building of the school, she lost her footing on a patch of ice and slipped, banging her head on the ground. For a moment her vision blurred and she groaned in pain. She felt someone kneel down beside her and before she could register what was happening, their hand was on her face. âNo, donât!â She breathed in sharply as she felt that familiar pull of absorption.Â
Bruce had decided it was time to take a walk. He had been doing some work outs inside, but never leaving the lab was getting to him. He couldn't stay on campus, as people might attempt to speak to him. But of course, trouble had no trouble finding him. He saw the girl collapse, and ran.Â
He recognized her when he knelt down, but if anything that made him more less nervous than touching someone he didn't know. He reached out, getting ready to check her head for bumps. But as soon as his hand touched her, she was screaming, and he felt a strange pain everywhere. He leaned back and grabbed his head, breathing through his teeth. "You okay?"Â
Anyone willing to participate in experimentation is not just the average mind. Showing the slightest bit of curiosity shows me your mind is different from the rest.Â
As long as you don't ask around about me. That would be cheating.
Not good enough.
I want to wait long enough until I can feel all of Gotham fear turn from the inside out. Itâs not only you Iâm interested in, but with your mind, youâd make an ideal first experiment.Â
Why my mind? Maybe I'm just screwing with you to seem interesting.Â
