a few years ago when i was still in high school, i made a post like, "i love html and js but hate css i hate css i hate css" and i thought when i was in college i would grow out of that mindset...
akame (from akame ga kill) and anby demara are the same character down to the “sister they ‘abandoned’ in the military but still care deeply for” conundrum
Revolutionary idea: imagine [character I like] with [disability I have]. More people should get on this!
okay i have 4 assignments due in less than 2 hours bye
the last thing i posted was unserious and took < 5 minutes so here's a wip to cleanse it
i have never blocked a tag on here so quickly as i have with That Guy
So I watched backrooms
this is what happened at the festival right
staring in horror at the zzz leaks subreddit because they somehow managed to make these characters look even worse. outstanding work hoyo
i couldn't get this out of my head i'm sorry
kill la kill is one of those things where it's just like. yeah ok there's things to be said about the sexualization of high school girls and the rampant imagery of such a thing in otaku culture and that's probably not a good thing, i get it. i am not going to act like the show was made out of pure benevolent feminism either; there are a lot of bits where trigger very clearly tried to have their cake and eat it too, and while i don't think this is necessarily a bad thing because sexualized art and horny design is just as artistically valid as more strait-laced storytelling, i could not tell someone they're wrong for being made uncomfortable by all of the gratuitous ass shots of satsuki.
but if you change basically any single "problematic" facet of the show i just feel like all the intended themes don't work nearly as well. you can't make the characters not high-schoolers (the fascist imagery of japanese school uniforms is brought up by satsuki herself in the second episode) and you can't make senketsu and junketsu more modest (proud bodily autonomy and free-spirited nudity is thematic empowerment against the fascist antagonistic forces that want to garb themselves in clothing and only use sex as a nonconsensual means of humiliation and control). like it's so embarrassing to say "no dude you don't get it they look like that because of the story" but in kill la kill's case that's entirely it. they can't not look like that or else it's a completely different show thematically! ryuuko and satsuki are some of the best characters ever and are so refreshing for women in any sort of action fiction. please watch kill la kill.

another thing about kill la kill. the show is so fucking sneaky. you're watching it and it's all high strung, lightning paced, balls to the fucking wall action and comedy. and then you think back on an episode and you're like "woah one of satsuki's earliest memories is her father telling her she will wear Junketsu (purity) on her wedding night, a garment that can only be activated by the spilling of blood. and this act of blood being spilled will give her a unique form of power that necessitates her being naked and unashamed of her body. but she is being told it can only happen on her wedding night. and then she sees another teenage girl using HER garment, Senketsu (fresh blood), and becoming empowered in her own body without being married. and it infuriates her so deeply she spills blood on her own purity in order to reach higher levels of power. and then she beats that other girl to a pulp. because unlike that other girl, she actually fully embodies what it means to be naked and to be unashamed. this is actually the first step of that character reclaiming her own body after a lifetime of sexual trauma." and that all happens in episode TWO. and it looks like THIS
unfortunately i am that easy to sway. because all it took was them giving remielle and sunbringer a messy exes breakup plot and now i have brain worms
