here’s the official sign-up for a festive and fun rp writing event inspired by chopped, where creativity, chaos, and holiday cheer collide! this season's theme is gingerbread dreams & tacky traditions! sign-ups close on december 11th at 10pm cst, so be sure to sign up asap.
whether or not you participate in the writing portion, everyone is invited to the tacky christmas sweater-themed friendsmas feast in leavenworth, wa on january 3rd at 7pm cst.*this event is held on december 19th in canon time.
please make sure to read everything before signing up. here’s everything you need to know to participate and make the most of it.
if you have any questions or need more info about the event rules, don’t hesitate to reach out to us via dms! we’re happy to help and provide any clarification you need. no question is a dumb question. 🖤
sign-up period:
sign-ups close on december 11th at 10pm cst, so be sure to sign up before then.
to participate in this event, please like this post or comment below with the names of the muses (if sideblogs) you wish to have participate. make sure to specify names so we don’t have to search; “all” is not enough. liking this post gains an entry to the event, please keep in mind.
know that you're signing up for a writing event where you'll be writing alongside others. if you will not be around to keep the paras and interactions going, it’s best you skip this. replies are to be short and to the point, not novels.
after sign-ups close, we’ll randomly pair participants into teams of two in a post in @mayhemplus if there is an odd number, we will do our best to do what we can to make it all even and fair.
team dynamics / writing:
this lasts canonically for one full day set in leavenworth, wa on dec 19th, but in the group, the process will take place from december 11th until january 2nd.
the characters will be utilizing a local cooking school, surrounded by an abundance of ingredients and having access to all the tools and resources they could possibly need (more details on this in a later post).
once you’re paired, you’ll collaborate with your teammate throughout the event. we encourage you to reach out to them via texts or private posts to discuss your game plan and then dive into writing.
this can be as casual or as detailed as you’d like. think about how your characters will approach the challenges—whether they’re bickering about ingredients, fumbling over instructions, or becoming a surprisingly good team, it’s all about the story you want to tell!
the heart of this event is the writing! while creating your dishes and gingerbread houses, focus on character interactions, funny mishaps, and kitchen chaos. remember, this is a WRITING EVENT—it’s about telling a story.
keep your replies SHORT, mostly dialogue-heavy to maintain the flow of the thread. replies don’t need to be overly long—shorter replies with fun banter are encouraged to keep the momentum going!
emphasize the process over the result. nothing has to be perfect—in fact, we want to see some creative disasters!
the challenges:
round 1: create a dish (either a main or a side) using a random set of three mystery ingredients unique to your team, given when you are paired by us.
round 2: build a gingerbread house together. embrace the chaos and imperfections—messy frosting and leaning walls are all part of the charm!
focus your writing on the process: brainstorming, cooking, decorating, and the inevitable mishaps along the way. let your characters’ personalities and interactions take center stage.
submission details
deadline: all submissions must be posted by 10pm CST on january 2nd, 2025. the friendmas event will take place on january 3rd, 2025, giving us time to remind anyone who hasn't posted and ensure everything is good to go!
requirements:
pick one person from the team to post the dish and gingerbread house you’ve prepared, tagging both of your names with a description of your dish and how the mystery ingredients were used.
it's optional, but feel free to share how each of you contributed to creating the dish.
a photo of your completed dish.
a photo of your gingerbread house.
important: for photos, you can use pinterest or similar platforms for inspiration, but please avoid using overly polished, professional images. pick something realistic that fits the messy, holiday vibes of the event. nothing will be perfect, so just do your best.
feast highlights:
being that polls only allow 12 options on tumblr and we’re not sure the number of teams we will have, what we will probably end up doing is randomizing 1st, 2nd and 3rd place via generator to determine the winning team for the culinary clash.
first place will receive a bragging rights trophy to keep until the next event culinary clash event.
bring your tackiest christmas sweater! we’ll hold a group vote for the ugliest sweater, too, with a small prize for the winner.
the dishes and gingerbread houses created during the event will be the stars of the feast. your characters can “sample” these dishes, laugh about the process, and share the holiday spirit.
there will also be plenty of additional food to enjoy for everyone attending.
future events
if culinary clash is a hit, we plan to host more of these events throughout the year, each with new twists and themes. the winning team will remain paired for the next event, keeping their trophy until another team dethrones them. if a member of a winning team departs (either by removal or choice), the remaining player retains the trophy and can continue with a new partner.
final reminders:
embrace the chaos: this event is all about fun, sharing ideas, collaborative writing and creativity. nothing has to be perfect, let your characters’ quirks and mishaps make the experience memorable.
focus on the writing: keep threads lively with character interactions and dialogue. this is a great chance to explore dynamics and have fun in a festive setting.
have fun! whether you’re cooking up fictional masterpieces, writing about disasters, or just enjoying the feast in your tackiest sweater, we’re thrilled to have you join the fun!

welcome to the official sign-up for our first annual secret santa event! please take a moment to read through the guidelines and expectations before signing up. just a reminder, this is a completely voluntary event – no pressure to participate if it’s not for you! 🎅🎄
signing up:
to participate in this event, please like this post or comment below or dm the main with the names of the muses (if sideblogs) you wish to have participate. make sure to specify names so we don’t have to search; “all” is not enough.
after commenting, fill out the brief survey found below and post it on your blog, tagging m.secretsanta so we can easily find your post through a search. you can decorate your post or leave it plain.
the cut-off for sign-up is december 5th, at 9am.
DO NOT SIGN UP IF YOU PLAN ON NOT FOLLOWING THROUGH! signing up and being inactive for long periods or not following through with gift giving goes against the holiday spirit.
being paired:
you’ll receive a message on december 5th from @mayhemevents (to keep our main dm box tidy and for important messages) with your secret santa match. while you shouldn’t reveal who you have, it might be nice to casually connect with each other and take the opportunity to get to know one another a bit more. don’t be suspicious.
gifting:
you are required to give your secret santa three gifts:
1. something comforting
2. something for their home
3. a sweet treat
no gift cards, subscriptions, money, or overly extravagant gifts. while there's no specific budget, please keep it practical.
post your three gifts to your secret santa on your blog on the 12th, no later than 11pm cst, and be sure to tag them when revealing yourself as their secret santa.
general reminders:
please only sign up if you are able to queue by or be online the 12th to post your gifts. signing up and being inactive for long periods or not following through with gift giving goes against the holiday spirit.
as this is a voluntary event, you will be temporarily banned from participating in future opt-in events if you don’t follow through.
that being said, if you’re unable to participate or run into any issues, please let us know as soon as possible so we can make adjustments and avoid any disappointment. it’s totally fine as long as you give us a heads-up in advance. things happen.
it doesn’t matter what time zone in, as long as you can queue your posts on the 12th! early or late, your call!
examples for gifts:
something comforting – think of something that brings warmth or relaxation. (e.g. not limited to: a cozy blanket, a scented candle, a book, journals, something inspiring, mug, items related to self-care, sleep masks, or soothing teas.)
something for their home – this could be anything that adds a personal touch or practical item to their space, like a decorative item or random gadget. (e.g. not limited to: candles, something related to their favorite hobby, colors; be creative.)
sweet treat – a delicious treat to satisfy their sweet tooth, whether it’s chocolates, cookies, or a special snack.
don’t just pick one thing from each of these lists for your ss, tailor it towards them. these are simply meant to be ideas.

somehow, this person and i are now roommates. i’ll reply with 2-3 house rules we’d have while living together—whether they’re funny, serious, or completely random!
“i saw you singing along to 'all i want for christmas is you' earlier. don’t deny it.”
“the tree backstage fell over, and i’m pretty sure it’s because of you.”
“whoever decorated your locker with fake snow is definitely getting payback.”
“you made hot cocoa for the ring crew? of course you did.”
“snowstorm’s messing with flights, but i figured we’d be stuck here together anyway.”
“snowball fight?”
“you look way too proud of that santa hat.”
“i saw you holding a wrapped gift earlier—who’s it for?”
“you made snow angels in the parking lot before call time. why am i not surprised?” “huh? you want me to? no!”
“the reindeer antlers don’t make you look tough, but they do make you look adorable.”
“you keep complaining about christmas music, but i saw you tapping along to it.”
“someone made a snowman outside the arena, and i’m betting it was you.”
make sure to indicate the number of requests you’re open to accepting at a time.
for this task, post what is on your spotify wrapped. as of writing this task, it has not been posted to know what the aesthetics and how it will look. from previous years past, we can count on the following: your top five artists, top five songs, top genre, minutes listened, your top song of the year and top artist. include whatever you want! chat about how some songs inspired you and the general theme of music has played in your life this year.
after much thought, we’ve decided to move culinary clash to december! it’ll be our big holiday event. later this month / early december, we’ll share a sign-up post with all the details and expectations. with thanksgiving, travel, and everything else going on, we feel this will make things more manageable for everyone. we’re excited to host this as a writing event and hope you are too!
“you’re never this quiet; what’s on your mind?”
“there’s a coffee truck outside—figured you’d want one before call time.”
“you haven’t eaten anything all day. go grab something before we head out.”
“someone’s been doodling on the whiteboard backstage—let me guess, it’s you?”
“i found this random thing, and it screamed ‘you’ for some reason.”
“catering’s got cake. thought you’d want a heads-up before the vultures get to it.”
“i heard your promo earlier—you really nailed it.”
“i saw you sitting on the ring steps, lost in thought.”
“you brought donuts for the crew this morning—what’s the occasion?”
“someone left a note in your locker; i didn’t read it, but you might want to check.”
“you’ve been adjusting your gear for ten minutes—are you nervous or what?”
“your pre-match playlist is all over the place—it goes from heavy metal to pop ballads.”
“i caught you trying out a cartwheel backstage—care to explain?”
“you left your entrance jacket in gorilla—again.”
make sure to indicate the number of requests you’re open to accepting at a time.
i’ll write a starter where the receiver gets caught talking about the sender with an npc—whether it’s a compliment, a secret confession, a random rumor or even something wildly out of context. the sender just happened to be in the right (or wrong) place to overhear…
xkit users: DO NOT cut off the header! keep the empty cake in every reply.
please cut tag reblogs so there isn’t a long line of posts.
resize your pics or double up to not have a photo take over the dash.
you have 12 hours to contribute, or you will be skipped.
please keep notice of who is above you so that you can message us if the person holds up the line. just dm us and we will handle it!
tag your post #m.event (hear me out cake)
try to do it as timely as possible as we want the event to end saturday november 16th, 2024 at 9pm cst but no worries if not.
this process continues until the sequence loops back to @mayhemplus.
if you signed up and your name isn't on the list, please message us on the main! no one is meant to be left out! sometimes human error happens. we’ll get it sorted! 🖤
read carefully: choose two numbers—one for "truth" and one for "dare" located under the cut-tag (e.g. truth 1, dare 4 – mix and match). i’ll either answer the "truth" question or do the "dare." please be fair, and if you pick truth, give a genuine response, not just the easy answer.

hey everyone! just a heads up, there’s a new meme dropping later tonight, and we’ll be adding more starters, prompts, and all sorts of fun stuff throughout the week to freshen up the blog.
this is just another gentle reminder:
we ask that you only reblog ANY meme/starters/etc if you’re planning to be active (sending out and answering) and respond in a timely manner. please don’t reblog with “sending out later” or anything like that. if you’ve got multiple characters, only tag the ones you can actually respond with without getting overwhelmed. and hey, try to spread the love around—don’t be shy about sharing more than once if you can!
we do these for fun and engagement, so we expect people to be ready to jump in and respect everyone’s time and energy. no hard feelings if you want to gather replies for later, just know we’re trying to keep things fun and flowing! let’s keep it positive and avoid any ghosting or long delays. it’s not fair, kind, and it definitely won’t have people rushing to send you anything in the future if they know you’ve ignored their efforts.
we really don’t want to sound rude or bossy, but we know how much effort goes into sending things and we’ve all been there, when you send something to someone who reblogged a meme and then it never gets answered and or the person just disappears. we just want to keep things fun and fair for everyone so no one feels ignored or like their time and effort is being brushed aside! thanks so much, everyone! 🖤
anyone up for a meme tonight? like this if we get 5+ likes, we’ll publish it! if not, we’ll definitely do it tomorrow night. just want to make sure there’s enough people around to actively participate.
